Butterfly Cottage is centrally located in the most desirable part of the Dordogne - the Perigord Noir. Located in a hamlet on a no-through-road (no passing traffic) the location is very peaceful and enjoys beautiful views across the village and the surrounding countryside. The Cottage is just minutes from fairytale settings of Chateau de Commarque and Les Jardins de Marqueyssac, historical sites of Font de Gaume, Lascaux Caves, Chateau Castlenaud and medieval villages of Beynac, Les Eyzies and Sarlat-la-Caneda.

The cottage looks out onto a large courtyard with a beautiful Mulberry tree that sits in the centre. The courtyard is your own private area to relax in and enjoy watching the swallows fly in and out of the barn door. Also, your personal 3 burner Weber gas grill is in the courtyard so you can cook up a barbeque. Inside the cottage there are beautiful wooden floors and all the modern conveniences of home. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast table and bar stools. The living and dining room area is one great room. The living room has 2 comfortable reclining leather chairs and a lovely sofa to relax on. The custom made sofa is a sleeper bed for the possibility of having a third guest. The dining area has a wonderful large bar top table that seats up to 4 persons. The bathroom is down stairs and is fully updated with a new walk-in rain shower. The spacious master bedroom is upstairs with a beautiful wood beam ceiling, wood floors, and a heavenly King size bed (180*200).

This is a charming property full of character, and beautifully furnished. You have the feel of the 17th century, but all the upgrades and comfort of home. There is a gorgeous garden to relax in and read a book. So whether you are a couple on your honeymoon, friends on vacation, or a family wanting some quality time together, there is something for everyone to enjoy at The Butterfly Cottage.

Butterfly Cottage is your sanctuary for relaxation but as it is located in the heart of the famous Golden Triangle of the Perigord Noir we are just 6kms from Les Eyzies, 6kms from the lovely village of St. Cyprien (and all required services) and 20 mins to the historic town of Sarlat-la-Caneda. Our local centre at Meyrals is just 3km away and provides a bakery, a bar and a restaurant.

Wonderful accommodation in a great spot - we hoped to base ourselves here to cycle around the local area and were delighted Butterfly Cottage had availability. Close to most all the sights (the caves at Font de Gaume especially!) and the pool and gym were a real bonus before and after cycling. Great communication with Uliana (re much delayed arrival time and items which needed posting from home). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - thank you!!!

Perfect location , perfect hosts

Butterfly cottage was the perfect location to explore both the Dordogne and Vezere valley. It provided a peaceful and beautiful retreat, great accommodation and such kind and helpful hosts- Andy and Uliana. A wonderful holiday!

Les Hirondelles Butterfly Cottage Perfection

We have had a great time in this beautiful region. Andy was the perfect host, always on hand with any queries or just a chat. The accomodation is full of character, comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed use of the pool and hot tube. The gardens and setting are idyllic. Plenty to see and do without having to drive too far, local restaurants great value😄All in all A+++

Delightful Setting

We received a warm welcome from Andy our host. We had an excellent time spent in a beautiful area. Our Gite was spotlessly clean, a typical French Gite with charm and surroundings. We would recommend to anyone wanting to unwind and enjoy France at its best 👌

A relaxing time

Fantastic surroundings, wonderful pool and gorgeous gardens. A warm welcome awaits at Les Hirondelles and you couldn’t stay in a more picturesque and relaxing place. We had absolutely everything we needed within Butterfly Cottage. So well equipped, comfortable and charming. Thank you Uliana and Andrew for your warm welcome, we hope to see you again next year.

Relaxing break in the French counytryside

Beautiful area very peaceful in the countrysideButterfly cottage was very cosy, the bed was so comfortable & huge(American king size!), we slept so well. We were lucky enough to have the pool to ourselves after the family who were staying in the cottage opposite left a few days into our stay. It was very dog friendly. There are some lovely walks although we stayed during the ‘heatwave’ with our dog so too hot for long walks. We had our own private seating area at the front of the cottage.The hosts Andy & Uliana were very friendly & approachable & good for local knowledge .You do need a car to get about. The closest town is a 10 min drive. However there is bar Tabac/Medina restaurant which is closer possibly a 45 walk. Would definitely recommended eating there, the Salmon dish was delicious. A very relaxing stay

Paradiesisch schön! Wer Ruhe, Erholung und naturnahes, luxuriöses Wohnen sucht, ist hier goldrichtig. Ein hervorragend ausgestattetes und liebevoll eingerichtetes Cottage mit weitläufigem, schön angelegtem Garten, gepflegtem Pool und Whirlpool, umgeben von Feldern und Wäldern. Unser Gastgeber-Ehepaar, Uljana und Andy, haben uns freundlichst aufgenommen und standen uns mit versiertem Rat und zuvorkommender Hilfsbereitschaft (Tipps für Kultur und Natur, Restaurants sowie Reservierungen selbiger, frischen Eiern von den eigenen Hühnern,...) gern und durchgängig zur Seite. Ganz herzlichen Dank dafür!Vom Wohnparadies aus kann man hervorragend die Gegend erkunden, mit dem Auto sind die schönsten Stellen des Perigord noir im Umkreis von höchstens einer Stunde erreichbar. Und wer gern wandert oder (Renn-)Rad fährt, freut sich über abwechslungsreiche, wenig frequentierte Wege und Straßen.Einziger "Wehmutstropfen": Eine Woche ist viel zu kurz! Doch wir kommen wieder - im nächsten Jahr dann für zwei Wochen...

Séjour tres agréable et environnement reposant

Hotes tres sympathiques. Hébergement rustique plein de charme. Literie de bonne qualité. Tout le confort et même plus ! Animaux admis, j'ai donc pu venir avec mon chat mais pas de chance car d'autres sont venus avec leur chien donc cohabitation difficile pour mon félin.

Merveilleux séjour

Nous avons passé une très bonne semaine dans ce logis des hirondelles, très bien accueilli par nos hôtes (des œufs, des noix et une très bonne bouteille de vin en cadeaux),très discret ,s inquiétant pour nous si nous avions pas froid au cas où que oui du bois a été coupé, un endroit très très calme, de plus beaucoup de choses à faire et a voir dans la région. Nous conseillons vivement cet endroit aux futurs visiteurs de la region.

Es ist der Platz zum Urlaub im Perigord, zentral gelegen und wirklich ruhig und entspannend.Ein großer Garten (man könnte auch Park sagen), ein waremer Salzwasserpool, geschmackvoll und mehr als komplett eingerichtet und mit einem sehr persönlichen Service durch Andy und Uliana; nochmals herzlichen Dank für alles. Ein Wiederkommen steht ganz ober auf der Liste.

Magnifique séjour passé dans ce gîte idéalement placé entre les vallées de la Dordogne et de la Vézère. L'environnement du gîte et superbe, en pleine nature, idéal pour se ressourcer et passer un excellent séjour à visiter le Périgord. Un beau séjour

Vacances reposantes dans un très joli cadre avec randonnées, accompagnés de notre chien, visites de sites remarquables et détente dans la piscine ! Nous étions comme chez nous. Rustig gelegen vakantiehuisje die waar eigenaar en ander vakantiehuis dichtbij gelegen zijn, super vriendelijke gastheer en gastvrouw! Ook aan te raden met hondje(s). Mooie groene omgeving en een zeer leuk zwembad, jacuzzi, pingpongtafel, gasbbq! Rondom heb je veel leuke mooie stadjes en lekkere restaurants!

We have a corporate career behind us but have now decided to embark on a new adventure. We purchased Les Hirondelles in November 2018. The property has consistently earned 5 star ratings and rave reviews over the last 10 years. In our first season we were able to maintain the high standard of accommodation and hospitality, earning our own 5 star ratings.

Location, location, location!!! All our guests agree we are in the center of paradise. Privacy, peace, and quiet!! Away from it all, but with everything close by. You have a gorgeous villa to relax and enjoy, but within 5 to 20 minutes you can see so many fascinating and historical sites in the Perigord Noir. There is so much to see and do in our area, that you could stay for a month and not see it all. There are beautiful village's and chateaux's to explore; the Dordogne and Vezere rivers offering fishing and canoeing; as well as superb restaurants and shops. There are numerous vineyards of Bergerac for wine enthusiasts and there is a different local market situated in a nearby village or town for every day of the week. This is a wonderful home to enjoy and relax in, has all the amenities you could want, and close to everything. We hope to see you soon!!
