Needs a thorough cleaning

  • 3 of 5

The property is nice and everyone enjoyed the private lake. We had a group of 13, half adults and half kids. Only a few of you will have any real privacy during your stay. We were only there for 3 days. If we were staying longer, we would have really wanted at least one more bedroom. The loft area may be listed as sleeping 8 with a privacy wall, but it's not really a full wall. If you could put 8 kids up there, that may work.

One of the bathrooms is in the master, so everyone else shares the one remaining bathroom. The door opens directly into the center of the main room. Would have been much nicer if it opened to the side.

Your preferences regarding the above may make them moot points. However, everyone in our group thought the interior could have been much cleaner. And these are people who camp often.

We ended up washing a lot of the dishes again before using. Nearly all of the pots/pans had food remaining on them. I get it that it's a lodge made from an old barn, but the wood beams above the kitchen cabinets had so much dust hanging on them that we avoided leaving uncovered food on the stove or counters.

The hot tub had a lot of dirt/gravel/sand in it. I tried taking a cup and cleaning some of it out prior to the kids getting in. Not pleasant!!

We travel fairly often. From hotels to oceanfront condos to ski lodges. We are realistic about what to expect. This is a nice property but could be better.

No place to sit

  • 3 of 5

This beautiful Lodge sleeps "14" but has seating for 3. For example the living area had one very small sofa and two very uncomfortable homemade chairs; the gorgeous beach area had two chairs, one broken; the cute gazebo had four patio chairs, 3 broken; the fire pit, had one slanted bench; the impressive deck had one picnic table and several of those homemade chairs. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of amenities, including kitchen items, towels and bedding. The place was gorgeous but there was no way for all us all to gather around together except for the dining room table. We spent our stay battling over the one comfortable couch and the one semi "sitable' patio chair. If you plan to stand most of the time, you will love this place. It was very clean and offered privacy.

We always have the best time at lodge on the lake. This stay was no exception.

The power did go out once and didn't come back on until the next morning, but the maintenance man was kind enough to bring a generator to get lights and such back. We couldn't really figure out the AC... it always seemed a bit warm in the house, but overall it was a great time!

Great place to stay in Hocking Hills area

  • 5 of 5

It was a great place to stay. Clean and updated. Held our family of 14 just fine. There was plenty to do onsite with swimming, kayaking, basketball, playset, and plenty of free space for kids to blow bubbles or play ball games. Would recommend to all my friends and family!

Well kept. Secluded. Scenic.

Was very happy with my first ever rental. Exceeded expectations with included amenities. Beautiful property. Lots to do on property, but not much in close proximity. 30 min drive to old man's cave. Unpaved road to cabin is long and made me glad I had an AWD SUV. Definitely recommend this place for getting away from it all and still having more than enough comforts to keep you content. They leave more than enough towels and kitchen utensils for you, which was also nice. Also, bring charcoal.
