The hosts are great and this is an amazing home.We had to adjust by one day on the front and back and they graciously allowed us to do that.Pictures fail to capture what a cool spot this is with timeless architecture and every convenience. Kitchen is well stocked and super well organized.Great diving all around. Love the East End.Great moonrise over Tortolla. We had a blast.

The property is stunning. The layout offers a good deal of privacy if travelling with multiple groups, and the kitchen is very well appointed with everything you could need to meal prep while there

From the excellent greeter to the house amenities. I could haven’t asked for a better stay and experience. I’ve stayed mostly on the north shore before this but the experience I had will have me returning to this villa very soon

Our stay at Andara was lovely. The East End is remote and fabulous. We would return to this area of St. John as well as to Andara upon future visits. The villa was spacious, clean, and well appointed. Signature Villas got us acquainted to the home, and were easily available through out the week. A Jeep is a necessity due to the nature of the entry way/driveway. The first few attempts were heart pounding, but then we got used to it. Our family loved the pool and the outdoor showers. We used the hot tub too at night. It was a pleasure working with the owner during the booking process. We made reservations only a few weeks before our stay, and they responded to us promptly. Over all we had a fantastic time, and would return to this lovely spot in heaven. Thank you!

Peaceful setting

We had a great 2 week vacation. House is beautiful and on a very peaceful part of island away from town. The owner was very helpful in process till we met with Manager who showed us home. Great views, beautifully kept pool and House. Look forward to next trip.

Quiet neighborhood and amazing views

The heated pool is a great size and has amazing view of the ocean. House is situated so the really crazy winter winds from east are a bit blocked where the house is situated. 1 mile from Haulover bay is great snorkeling and nice morning walk area.

Exquisite

Just came back from beautiful St. John. This property is absolutely stunning. The house is clean, has everything you need, and just plain perfect. The views are spectacular. After a day of beach going and swimming, the beds were welcoming and comfortable. It was very clear that the owners really take pride in their property and have everything there that you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. We will be back!

Reward for Living

If you are looking for a world class, restfull vacation, then this villa is perfect for you. Natural beauty abounds, picture postcard beaches just a short ride away, starlit nights...... The villa itself has every possible amenity; one of our favorites are those outdoor showers. Thanks to the satellite, we were even able to catch the NFL playoff games under the gazebo with Tortola's twinkling lights in the background! We'll be back!!

This was our second time staying at Villa Andara in 3 years. The Villa, its location on a quiet hill top on the East end, and the spectacular views it has to offer made our second stay at Villa Andara just as memorable as our first. The Villa is an amazing place to stay and for us, is just about the only place we would stay on St. John. The view of Tortola and the bay separating St. John from the British Virgin Islands are breathtaking. While at the villa we always choose to cook simple meals and dine poolside and soak in the amazing views. The infinity pool and jacuzzi offer the same views which are nothing short of inspiring. During our stay at Villa Andara, we had a close call with Hurricane Erin; thankfully the storm took a sharp turn to the north and only grazed us with its outer bands providing the Island with much needed rain. During the storm, we lost power for 15 hours. However, Villa Andara is equipped with a self-starting whole-house generator which provided us with electricity throughout the storm. The AC and entire villa remained fully functional which kept us comfortable and able to enjoy some family time inside while the storm passed. The villa is well equipped with most of what you will need for a day at the beach as well. There are beach chairs, an on-property ice machine and a cooler to take some food with you on beach excursions. There is a built-in gas grill poolside and the indoor kitchen is fully equipped. We give Villa Andara 5 stars!!

Breath taking location

This was one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. The location is a bit remote, and you do have to adjust a bit to the roads in St. John, but it was well worth it. The house was beautiful and clean. The outside space is where we spent most our time. It had plenty of space and was very well equipped. It was nice to have chairs and a cooler to bring to the beach. The views of Tortola and Drakes passage are amazing. We could not get enough and want to come back next year for 2 weeks. St. John is a wonderful Island and the people were friendly and kind.

8 Days in Paradise

Absolutely stunning property. The views are magnificent. The property is beautifully maintained. The outdoor are area was our favorite spot. The outdoor showers were fantastic after a long day in the sun. Waking up in the morning to the beautiful water view is incredible. The only cons were the driveway. Which is unbelievably steep. If anyone in your party has any mobility issues this is not the place for you. Travel very light as you will need to bring luggage to your vehicle. I would definitely recommend this property.

Beautiful Home as advertised

Wow what an outstanding property on the less traveled side of St John. Owners did a wonderful job designing their home. Plenty of space for our six adults with room to spare. Fantastic outdoor living areas with pool, hot tub, grill, sunning areas and outdoor bar. Bedrooms were all identical, very large and extremely nice. Gourmet Kitchen had everything needed to prepare wonderful meals which we did 50% of the time. Haulover and Hansen Beach are both within a mile of the home and offered the best snorkeling we experienced on the island. Thanks for sharing Andy!

Perfect Getaway

Our second time at Villa Andara reminded us how much we missed the St. John. The view from the villa is like none other. Rainbows and ships set in the startlingly blue water and lush surroundings greet you every day. While the view from the villa is magical the Villa itself is a true work of art. Every light fixture, furniture and design element has been carefully thought out to add to the beautiful setting that is St. John. Yes, you need a car to take advantage of the island but we discovered on our last day that a quick trip down the hill brings you to a rocky beach perfect for a quick visit and snorkel. Simply perfect getaway.

Stunning Inside and Out

Andara is absolutely as beautiful as the pictures show. This is our second stay here, the first being 3 years and one very large Hurricane Irma ago. The house, property and amenities look virtually brand new. We didn't know what to expect coming only one year after the devastation of Irma, but we were pleasantly surprised (and happy for the people of St. John) to find many of the businesses are back up and running - grocery stores, restaurants, shops... Irma can still be seen and felt for sure, but the healing is very much under way. The beaches are still beautiful and the water is still warm and this house is still stunning.

Relaxing side of island

Plenty of space to spread out if multiple couples. All bedroom suites are king size with double sink vanities and outdoor showers. Thanks be suite is a casita with a great view of the ocean. Beds are pretty comfortable. The pool area is what sold us when we booked and the pics delivered. Great size pool and always a shady area in case don’t want sun all the time. Used the outdoor living area all the time as well as the outdoor TV. Missing outdoor dining area but that didn’t stop us from eating outside. Nice size grill. Kitchen had spices, storage containers and really well appointed. And loved the washer/dryer.

If you want to admire a beautiful home, enjoy the view and are physically fit this is the villa for you. It being our first time in St John it was disappointing how inconvenient the location was to Cruz Bay & the beaches. My husband didn't feel comfortable tacking the vertical driveway so we hiked up and down with bags & groceries. This villa is not for elderly or handicapped, my husband has a heart condition and I was worried about him the whole trip. By all means make sure you have a full tank of gas it is a 45 minute drive to Cruz Bay and closest gas station.

Please know that your feedback is important to us as we want our guests to have a wonderful experience on St. John. Your booking of our home was made through your travel agent, not VRBO. We don’t know what your travel agent told you about St. John, but since this was your first trip to our beautiful island I hope they made you aware of the geography of the Virgin Islands. A visit to our website, the link is on VRBO, has several photos along with our building blog that would have made the location of the villa very clear. Andara was constructed to take advantage of the peaceful & natural beauty that the East End affords enabling our guests to get away from it all. St John is a rugged island and it is those mountains that provide such expansive views. We are sorry that you did not contact us through VRBO prior to booking your trip through your travel agent. We would have been more than happy to answer any questions that you may have had about St. John and Andara, including the location of some nice East End beaches within a few minutes of the villa that we enjoy and are also on our map on VRBO. While unfortunate, St. John currently only has one gas station and it's on the Cruz Bay side so we suggest getting a full tank of gas for our guests staying on the east side of the island even though it is only 11 miles away. This home was built with Heaven in mind. We have been lucky to visit Villa Andara on two different occasions. When I am not here I am dreaming of my return. The home is exquisite. Every detail has been thought out. If you are not the adventurous type; no worries, there isn't a reason to leave. The impeccable view is panoramic, the infinity pool transcends you into a state of ecstasy. The luxurious outdoor showers that overlook the intertwined vines of the flora allow for a refreshing yet invigorating feel unlike any experience. The kitchen is gourmet all the way. You will enjoy cooking in it or if you are really lucky watching someone cook for you in this state of the art kitchen. If this home is a budget stretch for you, go for it! You will not be disappointed.

Spectacular Villa with Subtle Surprises

Beautiful home with a great view. Definitely high end house in every detail. Extremely well furnished and maintained. A special place. The surprises that surfaced after being here a couple of days should be considered. The house is nestled into the side of a mountain so there is a very steep driveway and stairway. We expected this but progressively realized that the villa is facing due north and the outdoor living area is almost always in the shade of the mountain. This contributes to a darkness inside the house that's difficult to overcome with the installed lighting. Another surprise was the Tortola garbage incinerator directly across the Channel. There's usually a good breeze so it was not an issue for most days but when the wind calmed and they burned there was a very unpleasant odor and requiring us to button up.

We are so happy that you enjoyed our home! We put our heart into the entire process of designing and building Andara and are always happy when our guests get to experience a little of our adventure. Because of way the villa is set on the mountain facing north to take in the views of Tortola and Jost Van Dyke there are seasonal differences in the amount of sun that the villa receives. We are sorry to hear that you experienced issues with the Tortola incinerator. Unfortunately, the facility had been damaged in Hurricane Irma and they were experiencing flare up fires at the facility in January. This has intermittently caused air issues across St. John from the East End to Cruz Bay. Luxurious, Peaceful Retreat

Firstly, I want to thank the owner, Andy, for being incredibly helpful - not only in the booking process, but was also quick to answer our email questions when applicable. The home is impeccably designed, comfortable, and well thought-out, not to mention beautifully appointed. We were looking for a very relaxing vacation with downtime, spectacular views, and wonderful outdoor spaces - and this property offered exactly what we were hoping for! We had the foresight to pick up groceries over on St. Thomas (less expensive and more options) before taking the ferry over to St. John. A four-wheel drive vehicle is nearly mandatory to navigate the island - and the driveway :) By the way - despite what you may be told, don't back down the driveway. It is very daunting at first, but is easily mastered. Coral Bay (about 15 mins drive) offers a couple simple, beachy restaurants/bars and a small grocery store for necessities. We made the majority of our meals at the property. The kitchen is very well-stocked with every amenity you may need. When looking for this type of vacation in future, Villa Andara will be our first choice. Thank you, Andy & Dara, for sharing your amazing home! Dean & Gwen

Building Andara in 2010 fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning a home on a Caribbean island. We have been traveling to St. John for the past 25+ years and have made an annual tradition of traveling with extended family. We love to scuba dive, hike, snorkel, and chillax! There is no place better to decompress than St. John, being 2/3 National Park with some of the most gorgeous beaches in our own backyard. We hope you love STJ as much as we do & are happy to share Andara!

The sweeping north shore panoramic views across to Tortola & the BVIs, watching vessels from sailing yachts to majestic private yachts cruise down the Sir Francis Drake Channel will relax even the most stressed out mainland traveler! The breezes, bananaquits (island birds), humming birds, serenity of the East End called us to this piece of paradise.

Andara is in close proximity to the laid back vibe of Coral Bay and it's unique variety of restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. After a day of exploring or lounging at one of the nearby beaches Andara is a peaceful oasis to return to at the end of the day!
