About the property

Garden Level Apt: Townhouse: 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Spacious Garden Level of a c1875 Brick Townhouse in the heart of the Historic District on Beautiful East Jones Street. Walk to everything!

Send me an email inquiry or just call or text me.

This rental is very popular so if your dates are taken please consider one of the other 1BR/1BA listings I handle. If you do not need a lot of space check my new 'tiny house' listing on this same block of Jones St go to VRBO # 679559

No stairs here, and also no step-down or basement feel to this beautiful ground floor 900 square foot one-bedroom apartment with fully updated kitchen & decor. Walking distance to anything in the Historic District. Situated between Forsyth Park (0.4 miles south of the house) and the River (0.7 miles north of the house) Jones Street is known as the prettiest street in Savannah. Jones is halfway between Forsyth Park and the River making it the definition of 'centrally located'.

Bedroom has a fabulous King size bed as well as a reading sofa. There is a 2nd flat screen tv in the bedroom which is totally separate from the Living Room for privacy. There is a Queen pullout sofa in the beautifully decorated living room. The bathroom is off of the kitchen.

Beautiful furnished back patio is yours to enjoy. Partially covered and partially sunny for the best of both worlds! Relax outdoors under a ceiling fan for breakfast or cocktail hour or even a meal if you tire of dining out!

Prime location, you will see horse drawn carriage tours passing right by your front door. No vehicle needed if you prefer to walk or take a very short taxi or pedicab ride to all the restaurants and nightlife destinations we have. One short block from Whitefield Square and also Troupe Square!

VERY SECURE, this house has bars on the windows and doors. You will see this on many houses in Savannah and the owners think it's pretty convenient! This is a historical feature that may seem extreme to some, especially on the prettiest street in town but one thing is for sure-- you can lock the place down like 'Fort Knox' if you want to!

Parking is free on-street and generally very easy. Most of our guests park right outside the apartment door.

Bed linens and towels provided.

This home is steps away from Firefly Cafe as well as the famous breakfast spot Clary's open 7 days a week. There is a fine dining restaurant, Liberty Street Grill, a couple of blocks away. Johnnie Ganem's Winery (and liquor store), also a local tradition, is a stroll away through Troupe Square. Walk less than a mile to Broughton Street or River Street and you will have a vast selection of other amazing dining and night life options.

The 'main house' upstairs is available on VRBO as well under listing 394500. It has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, all totally updated with high end finishes in all bathrooms and kitchen. Perfect if you are looking for family reunion type accomodations and need another rental close to the garden level.

Check in after 3pm, checkout by 11am.

Approval for 1-night stay will be on a case by case basis. There is a $50 single night surcharge in addition to the standard nightly rate. Email or Call to find out if your single night is possible.

Cancellation Policy: There is no refund for the first payment if you book on this advertising platform but they offer trip cancelation insurance during online checkout. You will not owe the 2nd half if you cancel more than 30 days before you arrive. Feel free to call for clarification.

About Mary Anderson

Hello my name is Mary! I am the property manager for this rental (which is also my former home) and I have lived in Savannah for over 12 years. I am also a licensed real estate agent in the state of Georgia. Feel confident renting from a long time resident and business owner with strong ties in the Savannah community. I manage property for my friends and neighbors all over downtown!

Mary Anderson purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Mary Anderson chose Savannah

Savannah's downtown is such a unique and beautiful design that many people who have traveled around the world name our city as their favorite place. The public green space carefully preserved throughout the downtown and the mix of gorgeous homes, shops, museums and restaurants is what makes the 1-mile Historic District a destination for over 12 million tourists a year.

What makes this apartment unique

When my husband and I lived in this home, we loved walking around our beautiful neighborhood and dining out frequently. The location, just steps from restaurants such as the Firefly Cafe as well as the Broughton Street nightlife, is the top feature of this home. Jones Street is known as the most beautiful street in Savannah, due to its grand width, its historic brick foundation and the gorgeous live oaks mixed with magnolias and palm trees. Additionally, for a single bedroom rental this apartment has a large scale including a nice ceiling height that will not make you feel closed in or have a 'rabbit warren' affect. We have decorated the entire apartment in a fresh clean contemporary fashion to appeal to guests of all ages.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My experience was world class from the moment I made the inquiry to the moment we left. Mary anderson was a dream to work with. She was responsive and very available via phone or email. The unit was as described: clean and well appointed right in the Historic District of Savannah. We were actually 2 couples. The LR sofa pulls out as a hide-a-bed. As there was an alternate entrance in the back through the patio, the living room could actually be used as a private bedroom space. The covered patio made for a congenial social place to gather and share food and wine. The convenience of a large supermarket nearby was a huge plus.

Great getaway and easy little town to relax and enjoy great food with a very friendly atmosphere. The locals were inviting and so nice. Definitely see why people fall in love and stay.

Just in town for two nights on business, and I wish Incould have stayed on longer! Lovely apartment in a great location. I felt like a local instantly, rolling out each morning onto the prettiest street in town.

Adorable vacation getaway! Great times here.

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great stay in this apartment! Perfectly situated in a residential block of the historic district with easy parking and within walking distance to everything. It was super clean, adorable, and well-equipped. The manager was a dream to work with as she answered our seemingly endless stream of pre-arrival questions and requests for recommendations with ease. I would definitely recommend this to traveling couples as it is the perfect size for them. And it's on the ground floor so no stairs - yay! We look forward to coming back here on our next trip to Savannah in the spring. Thanks!

Nice, clean place

  • 3 of 5

It was cute but lacked the extras expected. Not quite as convenient as we thought it would be, but we enjoyed walking the city.

Owner's Response: We asked what "extras" this guest was missing and she prefers K Cup instead of a regular coffee maker. She considers standard coffee makers to be outdated (we had a brand new one during this guest visit so it was not the machine itself that was outdated just the standard drip style that she does not like). We have never had a guest mention requiring K Cup before and we personally love coffee but have an old fashioned drip style machine and do not use K Cups at all as they cause tons of extra trash waste. We will continue to monitor feedback and if more of our guests state that a normal coffee maker is not sufficient we will certainly get a k cup machine too and keep it in the cabinet for those people. We do want to make guests happy, and we monitor all feedback earnestly.

Some good, some not so good

  • 3 of 5

We booked this condominium for our stay in Savannah while setting our daughter up at SCAD. When we arrived, getting into the condo was easy. The condo is on the ground level, which is convenient and there was always free parking on the street in front of the unit. The unit was clean and well equipped with such things as towels, sheets, blankets and everything we needed for the kitchen. The main bed was rather soft for our tastes. The patio in back was quiet and very nice. The unit was very quiet.

We had to change the original reservation due to Hurricane Irma. Mary was very cooperative in allowing us to change and even offered to refund us for two days rent since we were staying two days less than planned. We felt that was a very nice offer.

However, when we checked in, we found that the pillows on the bed smelled very bad. So, the first night, before going to bed, we did a quick wash to clean them. Unfortunately we made the mistake of adding some dark items to the wash. As a result, two of the pillowcases developed dark stains. When we checked out, Mary complained to us about this and rescinded her offer of the refund for the two days we didn't use. She told us that she had to replace the entire set of sheets and we should pay for that. My wife called her to discuss the matter as keeping two nights rent to replace a set of sheets seemed exorbitant to us. During the conversation, Mary became very defensive and raised her voice towards my wife. So, my wife said goodbye and hung up. While we had no problem with paying a reasonable amount to replace the sheet set, this incident really detracted from the experience.

Owner's Response: I am very surprised that after the photos and discussion about the ruined linens this guest would still complain about this. They seemed very nice so I would never have rated them badly for their accident but they did not even report their "mistake" about washing dark clothes that bled on the linens. The maid arrived to discover the entire bedding set (King sheets, bed spread with shams plus comforter with additional matching shams) ruined by dark blue dye stains. I called and spoke to the husband asking what happened. I thought it might be hair dye. He explained his wife washed our linens with dark clothes that bled. I said OK, I understand how that could happen but we should have been notified so we knew what to expect. Since we were surprised by it I was stuck racing around to take the maid replacement items before the next guest arrived at 3pm. I sent him photos showing it was far more than just the pillow cases. Blue dye was on everything. This was also a really nice set where everything matched so I was very sorry to lose it. I told him we would just call it even instead of me sending money back. They had paid a very low rate and moved their dates initially so the $200 hurricane refund would not have even been in the equation if I had not allowed his first date change purely for his convenience. I mentioned that and said all those linens added up to about $200 so I would call it a wash. He said OK! Later before the wife called there was one other aspect of this situation he is not mentioning. This couple moved to another apartment I manage next door because they wanted to stay longer and could not extend at this unit due to the next arrival already booked. They left the key for the other apartment in their daughter's dormitory and called my assistant after midnight asking her to drive downtown to let them in, which she did. So when the wife called me the very next day saying it was not fair I was "charging" so much for the ruined linens, I explained that the cost of King sheets, a matching bedspread and shams plus another matching comforter and shams was at least that much and I was not actually charging anything I was just calling it even. I mentioned the midnight lockout and that many rental companies charge a fee for a lockout call and we were also letting that go. She seemed to realize that was true. At least they recognized how nice and clean the apartment is. This was rare, normally accidents are reported and everything is pleasant.
