The Henry Hayme House was built in 1890 and is located in a prestigious central location within Savannah's Landmark Historic District. Staying downtown in a historic home is an unforgettable experience. If you picture yourself sipping coffee looking out your windows at one of the famous "squares", and strolling to museums, boutiques and restaurants without ever needing to drive then this is your ideal vacation spot. Note: this is the top floor of a historic mansion and stairs are required.
There is a King bed in the main bedroom, a Twin XL in the 2nd bedroom and a pullout sofa in the living room. The remodeled bathroom is small but beautiful with a walk in marble tiled shower. The kitchen has a 2-burner cooktop and a small dishwasher. There is not a range (oven) but there is a nice convection toaster oven. Washer & Dryer laundry unit is inside the kitchen.
We allow infants who are not yet mobile (babe in arms) or well behaved older children as long as parents can watch them at all times and prevent them from opening the emergency exit fire escape door which leads to an iron ladder. This is a 3rd floor apartment. There is no elevator so it is a walk-up and that back emergency exit door is only to be used in a fire emergency if the front door is not an option. It cannot be used as a smoking balcony or any other recreational purpose. We do not allow crawling babies, toddlers and very young children for safety reasons.
Parking is on the public street and is generally very easy to find near this home. The City parking is one dollar per hour 8am to 8pm and free nights and Sundays. There are free street parking spots further away, and public parking decks nearby if you wish to store your car in a garage after unpacking as you will not need it to enjoy Downtown from this location.
