About The Owner

Jim and I have owned the property since the late 70's. In 1999, we retired and moved to the WD Ranch full time. Jim is an artist who had his own school in Scottsdale. Mary worked for the Scottsdale School District for 17 years. Jim still teaches at the community college here in Payson, twice a week. He belongs to the Payson Art League and shows twice a year with them. He has his own studio on our property. We love to hike and watch the wildlife. We put in a garden every spring/summer. Love those fresh vegetables and share with our guests when available. We have a wonderful dog named Sage. She is deaf but it doesn't slow her down. She will be the first to greet you when you arrive!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2000

Why The Owner chose Payson

We love Payson. It is a touch of paradise! Payson is a small town with many activities and events throughout the year! And, the people are the best! We love our area because it is secluded, quiet, and away from the city! Great place to relax and receive some R&R.

What makes this cabin unique

Staying at the WD Ranch is very quiet and secluded, but you are about 15 minutes from the Mataztal Casino, Sawmill Crossing Movie Theatre, Walmart, Safeway and Bashas. We are about 45 minutes from two beautiful lakes--Woods Canyon and Willow Springs. The fish hatchery and Horton Creek is beautiful to explore and that is about 45 - 50 minutes away.

Great little place near Payson

  • 5 of 5

Very nice and quaint cabin in a quiet spot just outside of Payson. The listing description and pictures are spot on and there are some antique farming-type equipment lawn art pieces around the property that give it another layer of charm. The owners live on the property at their main house but are not at all intrusive and are very nice folks. They're more like friendly neighbors. Nice little place to get out of the Phoenix-area summertime heat and enjoy some of the cooler central Arizona pines. Thanks again for a great time, we may just see you again!

Our family enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the WDR cabin. The kids loved playing on the porch and exploring the property and the grown ups were hard pressed to leave the hammock. Mary and Jim are delightful; so friendly and accommodating. Thank you!

Our stay at WD Ranch exceeded our expectations! It is the cutest place ever with amazing outdoor spaces to relax. Everything you need to enjoy your getaway is here! The wildlife we saw was a great bonus, the beds were comfy, and the hospitality was exceptional. We plan on making this at least an annual trip.
