The definition of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

The Good Moon Cottage is literally a slice of heaven. If my last days on earth were spent here, I'd be the happiest woman alive. Federica, Aragorn and the farm kitties are all lovely hosts, full of friendly smiles and local suggestions. The fruits and veggies that we purchased from the farm stand were delicious....they were obviously grown with love. The view is the most incredible sight you will ever see! I wish I could pack my bags and live in this cottage forever! We will 100% be returning. Put this place on your bucket list! a MUST!

An idyllic hideaway

  • 5 of 5

I know Good Moon Cottage, and as suggested by the five star ratings given to it, it is delighful. I have driven down to the parking place in a small 4 X 4 (a Land Rover or Jeep is not necessary), and though one cannot park immediately by the house, the last few yards are not difficult. The owners are charming; and if help with baggage is needed I am confident that they, or one of their farm staff, would be only too willing to help. The ambience is idyllic; the views stupendous; the atmosphere of isolation in a hillside organic farm is unique. Don't be put off by a bit of petty wingeing!

Hikers' Paradise

  • 2 of 5

We stayed at Good Moon Cottage for 15 nights in 2014 (February 12 to 27). The pictures of the Cottage, itself, are accurate. However, the picture labeled “Driveway [at the bottom of the picture]” leads one to believe that you can drive down to and park at the Cottage. We were told to park at the top of the Hillside. To, actually, get to the Cottage you must traverse (walk) down a zig zagged “steep” uneven hillside consisting of 4 significantly slanted courses of grass, weeds, dirt, rocks, and ruts totaling more than a football field in length. Even if the hillside weren’t washed out in areas, driving down to the Cottage would be scary in the daytime and dangerous at night. Hiking boots are good to bring, especially when it rains. However, the owners provide 2 pairs of rubber boots and 2 flashlights to negotiate the slopes to the Cottage. Don’t forget to bring them along with you when you go off for the day as it is dangerous coming down at night without light. Also, be sure to pack light. You will be carrying your luggage down, not rolling it. The Cottage doesn’t have any screens on the windows or doors, so bug repellent is a must. They do provide a net over the 2 beds which help in the evening when sleeping. We paid for 2 weeks of maid service. On the 10th day, we met a lovely young woman who came to clean the Cottage. She did a great job cleaning, and before leaving changed the bed linens and replaced the two bath and hand towels which we had used for the first 9 days. That was the extent of the “maid service.” On the last night when we arrived back to the Cottage after 9:00 p.m., there was no water service at the Cottage. The thought of traversing back up the hill to report this was out of the question. When we arrived home we emailed the owners and let them know how we felt about these issues. They were kind enough to reimburse us 1/4 of the charge for the maid service and 1/2 of the charge of the daily rental for a half-day without water, with their apologies and a brief concluding comment, “The minor inconveniences of life on a steep hill need to be balanced with the benefits of the peaceful and secluded environment we made for you. Maybe you were not cut out for this kind of location. Better luck next time.” The Cottage does come with a resident cat…very friendly and hungry! Do rent a jeep or a car with a high clearance, you’ll need it. Caution: You need to be in good physical shape which, thankfully, we are.

Too short a visit

  • 5 of 5

Two months after spending a few days here, I look at the pictures on my phone and think that I need to go back immediately. Been visiting the Virgins for over 20 years, boating, condos, hotels, camping. The thought being that hey - we're in the islands, everything else is of little consequence. This place changed / spoiled that rationale. It erased every artifice of tourism and BS and replaced them with the wind, sea and hills and a simplicity that offers a rare opportunity to go beyond mere relaxation.

I doubt anyone leaves here the same as they arrived.

A Slice of Caribbean Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at Good Moon Cottage. The cabin is beautiful, tasteful, and romantic. The artwork on the inside was great and the view outside was fantastic.

We ate meals out on the deck, hiked to the beach (drove to the beach too), and enjoyed chatting with Aragorn, Frederica, and their boys.

If you are looking for modern or sterile or big kitchen - this is not your place.

My wife and I just returned from a delightful week in Good Moon Cottage at Good Moon Organic Farm. There are scarcely enough adjectives to adequately describe the cottage, its location, the foliage, and its dramatic view. Nevertheless, I will try: Good Moon Cottage is a quaint, simple, yet elegant tropical hideaway nestled on the north side of Tortola, overlooking the azure blue Atlantic surrounded by bougainvillea, mango trees, and other tropical foliage with colorful blossoms. Terraces sculpted into the hill, an amazing feat of ingenuity, provide fresh greens, vegetables, tomatoes, herbs, mangoes, bananas, and other delectables. Just outside our door we picked spinach, arugula, basil, and tarragon. You might even be able to purchase a fresh catch of whole yellow fins. After you’ve prepared your breakfast, lunch, or dinner, in the little, but well-equipped kitchen, eat on the deck, catch the cool breeze and watch sailboats slice though the water below your eagle’s perch—then read a novel and take a nap. Refreshed, you can now tour the island. It was never too hot—just right.

Alas, after a week I had to pry my wife’s hands from the deck’s railing and bid the farm a reluctant farewell.

If you’re in the vicinity, book the little Good Moon Cottage—don’t let this gem slide by!
