After many fun years in the health care industry (research pharmacist , pharmaceutical sales and marketing) , I moved from Colorado to enjoy my family ties in Oregon --where my grandfather homesteaded. I live full time in Ashland, Oregon. I enjoy travel, walking cooking,, gardening, bridge, theater, good friends and my doggy, Honey.
Cindy Barnard purchased this cottage in 2007
I loved to join my cousin in her home here at Seal Rock after moving to Oregon. When her happy, long stay (23+ years) in this home ended, I purchased the cottage to enjoy with friends. I have had fun renovating and invigorating the home to share as a rental with others in this special spot. I hope you enjoy your time here. It is a fascinating area.
Walking with my grandsons, friends and my lab on this beach is wonderful--no matter what the weather! I can watch them play and run for miles and know that this area of the Oregon coast is especially safe and friendly for my loved ones. Good coffee, family, friends and doggy-- beautiful sunsets. Wow! I am blessed!!
This is a good place to just do what you want! Took some drives, shopped a little. Did a crazy Passover took us two days. Read watch movies eight and eight. Took our little dog to the beach. He ate a lot of sand but he ran and ran – 12 years old. Love the house and all the wicker! The yard and blooms are so nice! Love the time here!
Tucked away in Seal Rock, Oregon,we discovered a small piece of paradise. Tucked back into a small alcove of trees, you get an immediate sense of peaceful serenity. The decor ranges from whimsical to modern...all coming together beautifully. It was nice not to have to live out of a suitcase or decide which restaurant we wanted to go to for any of meals. There were a couple days we chose to just stay in and relax, other days we sightseeing. The beauty of the surrounding area is amazing. From the rolling farmlands, quiet beauty of the foothills, to witnessing the awesome splendor and power of the ocean. We were also lucky enough to witness the dignity and majesty of a mated pair of bald eagles while at the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. There are many little treasures to find. One of personal favorites was The Chocolate Frog just down the road in Waldport. The owners were amazing and very friendly. We've had a great time this week and have only one regret. We really wish we could have stayed longer. However, plans are already in the making for next year to return to this beautiful home and the slice of paradise it's tucked away in.
Thought I would write what is charming about this rental. It is so quiet and peaceful. My husband and I went with our little dog and it was perfect. Loved the reading chairs. We read, did a puzzle that took us awhile. Boy was it hard. Watched some movies and went to the beach When you want to go to the beach down the road there are 58 steps down. I use a cane but it was easy. This was the best up and down the hwy for a person that needs help. Loved it! It was so cool and rain for the first 2 days at night. We are from Sac and we have had 100's already. So boy, I wish I could have bottled it up to bring home. But, this house has everything! You will love it!!!!!!!!! And loved the little lawn for our dog to explore.
My Cousin's Cottage is a charming little house tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. The beach is a pleasant 5-minute walk away. The cottage may not have flashy amenities or swanky frills but that's what we loved about it! It's sweet and simple, perfect for hanging out, relaxing, great kitchen for cooking, comfy beds, nice porch out back, lots of light, and fabulously eclectic "beachy" decor. It was my brother's 40th birthday and there were balloons waiting for us when we arrived - an amazing and personalized touch! We will absolutely be back.
Good location to beach. We spent at least 3 to 4 hrs a day on the beach. Very quiet neighborhood even over July 4th. This place provided us the comforts of a home while on vacation (that didn't make us poor just to stay for a week.) We were glad to see a griddle to make pancakes, bacon and eggs for breakfast/dinner. The BBQ was also great. We enjoyed using it for our small family Fourth of July BBQ. Our kids used the sleeping bags and pillows that were provided. VERY GLAD there was a fully stocked washer and dryer area! We would stay again if this place was available for our next vacation.
The cottage was very clean and neat and the owner was very accommodating to our needs. The description is accurate and the directions were easy to follow. This cottage was located in the middle of were we wanted to be, but in a quiet neighborhood away from traffic. We would definitely recommend it to friends and relatives, and to strangers as well. We will be repeat customers.
This house was just right for our family of 3, including our 18 month old daughter. The beach is perfect for little ones, with soft sand that is mostly flat, so plenty of shallow waves to play in. Not to mention the clean freshwater "creek" on the beach. The cottage is comfortable and quiet. Cindy was a gracious host who made sure our stay was to our liking.
Newport Aquarium, Sea Lion's Caves, tide pools, shelling, clamming and crabbing, whale watching, berry and mushroom picking, art galleries, wineries.
