The host was very nice and responsive to our needs. Place was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect. Just on couple of blocks from the Main Street of Bloomfield. We even walked to Walnut St in Shadyside too.
The outside is deceiving but the inside was gorgeous. The old saying -don’t judge a book by its cover. The host was very responsive. We would stay there again.
Inside of house was very nice. It was nice to be able to walk to shopping and restaurants. Neighborhood around the house was sketchy. Parking was in short supply.
We had a wonderful stay at the Yew St. residence! This house was in a quiet neighborhood, clean, and well appointed with all the items you'd need for a stay. Michael was an attentive host with answers to questions within hours.
I HIGHLY recommend this residence for your next stay in Pittsburgh!!
The house itself was great - plenty of room for our group, nice big kitchen, and easy check in/check out process with no big cleaning requests. The communication with the property manager could be better. We asked questions prior to our trip which went unanswered, and important information regarding the need for a parking permit from the city was buried in an information website outside of VRBO that required a log in each time it was used. The house is old and a bit difficult to find/get to due to old stairs, but for the price and our needs, it suited us well.
My husband and I were extremely disappointed in the situation we found when we arrived at the West Penn VRBO. The property was not visible from Yew Street. There was no address plate visible. Most homes on the street are in disrepair with obstacles used to block or “reserve” parking places anywhere near the VRBO. My husband had to get out of our car and walk down a broken side walk to see a building over the hill. He found a sloped broken concrete path to a chain linked fence gate, where the 4930 address was Scratched into the sidewalk cement. The gate lead to a series of uneven steps down to another sloped broken concrete path leading to the door. He estimated the distance from the street to the entry at 175 feet with a steep elevation change of 50-100 feet. This is a dangerous entry for anyone regardless of age and was far more extreme than the listing description of “uneven pathways and slopes”. Taking heavy luggage in or out of the property was too daunting a task to even consider. We texted our VRBO host about the fact that we would not even be able to stay there, though we had rented it for 4 nights. He offered no accommodation, as in a partial refund or even a refund of the cleaning fee! Personal communication was zero after that first day. Four days later, we received the “closing the property instructions”, even though it was clear that we hadn’t stayed there. It was amazing to us that VRBO would even list this property.
Entrepreneur, sports enthusiast, investor, husband, father, son, brother and uncle! My wife Nicole and I live in New York City and have 3 amazing children. As a family, we love to go and visit other family members, take on the excitement of amusement & water parks, summer trips to the beach, and skiing in the winter time.
