The Space We want you to enjoy your stay just as much as you do. Help us ensure you are booking the right fit for your needs by reading this listing fully before booking.
Our twin suite is located in one of the old dorm buildings of what was once Scarritt Bennett College for Christian Workers, then later Scarritt Graduate School (more history about the campus below). The suite is made up of two rooms adjoined by a full bathroom with a tub/shower combo. Each room of the suite is approximately 100 sq ft. With the bathroom, the total space is about 250 sq ft. Expect a room without frills but on a campus akin to a European monastery or dare we say, Hogwarts…
The rooms each have a twin sized bed plus a desk and chair. You will comfortably sleep no more than 2 people total in the suite. Each suite is equipped with ONE TV with streaming capabilities, ONE mini-fridge with a freezer, ONE microwave, and lastly ONE dual drip coffee maker + keurig. Keep in mind for this suite you will have to walk through the first room and the connected bathroom to get to the second room!
In the cool months we provide heat only. In the warmer months we provide air conditioning only
If booking here, keep in mind it's not the room that you're booking the space for, it's the location and the beautiful campus. We encourage our guests to explore! Check out the architecture, the archways, there's even a labyrinth.
Key House Rules: • No alcohol • No smoking • No pets • No parties
So what is Scarritt Bennett Center? Scarritt Bennett Center is a nonprofit conference, retreat, and transformative education center. It's history dates back to the late 19th century when it was first established as the Scarritt College for Christian Workers. The college sought to train young women missionaries in a time when women were still prohibited from many forms of leadership. The college eventually became co-ed, and in 1952 it became one of the first white, private colleges in the state of Tennessee to integrate. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. famously visited the college and preached in its historic Wightman Chapel on April 25, 1957. Scarritt College operated from 1892 up until 1988 when it became the home of the now nonprofit organization, Scarritt Bennett Center.
Today, Scarritt Bennett Center's mission is “to create space where individuals and groups engage each other to achieve a more just world.” The center is property of the Women's Division of the United Methodist Church. Expect to see the United Methodist Women on campus throughout the year for board meetings, chapter workshops, and retreats. The campus also regularly hosts conferences, private events, weddings, and elopements.
Campus Activities Scarritt Bennett Center offers a variety of programming across the year that are free and open to the public, including poetry readings, live jazz music, chapel services, and more. Guests staying on campus are encouraged to participate in all that the campus has to offer. Find a listing of their upcoming programs at https://scarrittbennett.org/.
Guest Access You will have full access to your suite as well as access to the dorm building and permission to explore the campus. The dorm building is of course shared with other guests so you may pass each other in the halls. Masks and social distancing is required.
There is free parking onsite, 1 car allotted per suite reserved and a pass will be required. Additional street parking can be found off campus.
Interaction with Guests The rentals are managed by UrbanNashville Vacation Rentals. We're a small and local business that strives to make your trip to Nashville great. We let our guests have their space but if needed will be around to help. If you have any questions, concerns, or anything to share during your stay, our team will be available for you.
The Neighborhood The condo is located in the Music Row/Midtown area. Walk to local hotspots such as Edgehill or the Demonbreun and Midtown bar strips.
There are a number of tasty local restaurants and a few fun bars nearby such as Barcelona (Wine and Tapas Bar), Old Glory, Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint, Tailgate, Bella Napoli, OSA Coffee Roasters, Live Oak, 8th and Roast, and more.
The infamous Honky Tonk Row is about 2 miles away. It's typically a 9 minute or less Lyft ride to downtown or if you're up for it, an extended walk (about 40 minutes).
The suite is also close to Belmont University and touches Vanderbilt University campus, both well-known neighborhoods with shopping, restaurants, and bars! 12South, The Gulch, Germantown, East Nashville, Green Hills...all are less than 15 minutes away! The suites are truly in a central location to all things Nashville.
Getting Around ON FOOT There are great local eateries, cafes, and bars nearby worth exploring within a 10-minute walk!

TAXIS See the ride share option above, taxis are available however few and far between and can be quite pricey in Nashville. There are so many taxi companies that we really cannot recommend any one over another, and we encourage you to investigate rates and reviews to find one that suits your needs.
MTA BUSES The MTA (Metro Transit Authority) Buses run all over Metro Nashville and even some surrounding counties. Very reasonable fares and a wide range of routes make the bus a cheap and easily navigable choice for visitors.
NASHVILLE B-CYCLE Nashville's bicycle sharing program has been a huge success with locals and tourists. Simply walk up to any Nashville B-Cycle station, swipe your credit card, and pick out your red bike! The closest B-Cycle station to the will be in 12South (about a 20 minute walk away).

your residence hall was the perfect quiet escape in the bustling city of Nashville. Enjoyed walking the campus. The lunch was terrific! Very happy that parking was so accessible.
Check in was easy and smooth. Communication was great. It is a tricky time of year temp wise, and the a/c had not been turned on yet. It was a surprisingly warm weekend for March. I contacted the manager and requested a fan and was provided one right away. Fantastic location for visiting Vanderbilt. Beautiful building and grounds. I highly recommend.

Great place to stay. Nice location. Easy parking. Love that we each had our own room. Bed mattress is much too soft.
Located near Vanderbilt and music row, and a 5 minute drive to downtown. Clean, simple rooms, and the staff were so nice and accommodating. Perfect for my mom and me, and the price can't be beat for this side of town! We will defintely stay here again in the future.

Tracy - thanks so much for your review! We are so thrilled to hear you enjoyed the location and your stay. It's great to hear our team was helpful during your stay as well. We hope to host you again soon!
1st time staying and absolutely would again! Each party had separate bedroom / area so was great for our situation. Fridges with freezer, microwave and coffee. We had breakfast and later dinner with grocery store grabs and saved some $ with only eating out 1 time /day. AC was fantastic, location was safe, quiet and easy to get to. The beds are soft and probably could use a new mattress (on my daughters for sure), but for a few nights stay, it was a cost worth it!

This is a very special property. The rooms are small but still comfortable. And inside a very beautiful historic stone building. After the craziness of Nashville this is a quiet oasis to come back to. There are lots of food options within walking distance and strolling the Vanderbilt campus is lovely. I very much appreciated the clear and timely communications from the folks running this property. I would certainly stay here again.

The room very small which I knew it would be. It was perfect for what I needed. The price was incredibly reasonable. The Jack and Jill bathroom required some adjustment for my guest and I, but we managed just fine.
My daughter, 16y, and I took a weekend trip to Nashville and found this perfect vrbo. Clean, updated, comfortable and safe. We each had a fridge, freezer, coffeemaker and microwave in our room with shared bathroom. Very quiet. Great location. Very close to Vanderbilt and Centennial Park. The free parking was awesome. I will definitely be staying here when we visit Nashville again.

Janine- we are so glad you enjoyed your stay!! We hope we are able to host you again soon.
The bed was right beside the door. The door has big gaps on the side and under the door. You heard every word of the people walking or standing in the hall. The light stayed on all night and was bright in the room due to the gaps. The blinds to the window did not keep out the outside light as well. I did not feel safe due to the door. I am short but fyi, the beds are twin sizes.
Starting off with the problems. My 15 year old son forgot his Olukai Hiapo sandals when we checked out. 7 hours after leaving, he realizes this. I call to report & text a couple hours later, they’ll check. Next day, no they didn’t see them when the maid cleaned. There are no cameras in the halls of these buildings. After numerous calls & texts, no one has returned the sandals & the last message I sent to them to see if they have been turned in for no response. I wasn’t looking for brand new sandals, I was wanting his back. There was mold growing on the ceiling tile, the latch on the main door was broken & the only lock available was a regular door handle. Light comes in under door which is fine except when the bed is right next to the door. Maid was playing music on speaker while cleaning other rooms in the morning. Also rented 2 nights,(for 2 people) & we only had 2 towels. Messaged & asked for more the next day & an iron. Obviously they don’t have someone readily available to assist people. We left the hotel a couple hours later. While we were gone, they let themselves in while we were gone with no notification thats what they intended to do. I was expecting it to be left at the door. Shades are the only thing on the windows so they let in light & people could see in if the came up to the window at night. Good thingsBed sheets were clean smelled good. Getting into building & room was easy.

This is a great place to stay. It’s an old dormitory so you feel like you're back in college. No frills. But a simple place.
