Overview

About the property

Better Than A Hotel And Half The Price!

This is a little cottage behind my house. With a keen eye for detail, I've decorated this space to feel modern with homespun, European (and Southern, of course) charm. Full bathroom with shower, daybed with trundle (two twin beds that can push together to make king size bed), cable TV, Bose speaker w/bluetooth for superior stereo sound available (just ask!), fridge, microwave, convention oven, Nespresso coffee machine, desk, wardrobe for hanging clothes - all in the charming Sylvan Park neighborhood, one of Nashville's IT places to live.

I live in the house in front of this cottage and will be readily available with any questions or suggestions of places to eat and see in Nashville. Easy in/out access and separated by a picket fence from my main home.

Sylvan Park is one of the handful of IT neighborhoods in Nashville. It's less than 2 miles from the heart of downtown and, as it's own neighborhood, it had a specific charm and panache. There are some great local restaurants up the street from me, along with a boutique wine store, coffee shop (literally one block away) and The Produce Place, a local neighborhood grocery store.

Bus stop is right around the corner and taxi's and Uber can get you anywhere in the heart of Nashville for around $5-10. I'm THAT close to everything.

Great location, perfect for two people!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with our Yorkie for a night when we were in town for a concert and it had everything we needed. The flat was clean, in a great location (great neighborhood), and has an awesome owner. We took Lyft downtown (10 minute ride) for $7. This place is perfect for two people. Thanks again Angela for everything! We'll be back.

Perfect location for all the places we wanted to go

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was a perfect location for all the places we wanted to hit when visiting. Everything was basically 10 min away if you don't count the great neighborhood it was already in. We got to take our dogs and this was way better situation than any hotel. Only minor inconvenience was the rain and mud puddles with the construction but you can't help that and just concluded we picked a great neighborhood that is thriving and Angela provided us extra towels for the dog paws!

Super, super small space for 2 people. Floors weren't washed, no coffee provided and 3 hangers

  • 2 of 5

My daughter and I aren't very picky, but we won't be returning to stay. Sketchy or no internet our entire stay, no coffee provided for the breakfast area, shower had mold, floors weren't washed upon arrival and made your feet black to walk on them, 3 hangers and none brought when asked. We met the NICEST people in Nashville, the owner of the rental was the only one who wasn't. We paid for 7 nights, 3 days before we were leaving she texted to see if we had left early because she hadn't seen us. Weird. The contractor working on the property was nicer and told is how to lock the door and where the key was. This morning was the worst part as she opened the door with the key without knocking telling us check out was at 11:00 and she needed to clean because other people were coming. The deadbolt was thrown, she actually went back and got that key. I thought I heard someone trying to get in but I wasn't sure. It was 11:20, we were laying in bed still, totally our fault but really?!? She gave us 15 minutes to get out. No "thank you for staying" or anything. Completely rude, even my 13 year old daughter said she felt like we were kicked out. Wow, there has to be better options available.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry that Sonja and her daughter did not have a pleasant experience at my flat. In response to Sonja's concerns: There actually IS a Keurig coffee maker in the flat with a drawer underneath full of coffee pods, so I'm not sure why she claimed there was no coffee? And she never asked me about it. The floors were swept and mopped, and shower cleaned before my guests arrived. They stayed for 7 days and my feeling is that they may have tracked dirt in from their adventures during the days. I personally swept and mopped before they arrived so I know it was clean. Re: my mid-week check in--that was strange to read as I merely sent a text mid-week to make sure everything was okay. It was a friendly text. She wrote back "We've been out and about. All is great! (smile emoji). The place is awesome!" I responded, "Oh great, I'm glad you're enjoying Nashville!! Have fun! (smile emoji)." There was nothing unpleasant about the exchange. Re: internet: She did call to check in about that and I let her know that the AT&T guy was there working on it and it had been a problem for the neighborhood that day. I checked in a few more times that night to see if it was working. Re: the hangers - I did forget to bring extra hangers and I am sorry for that. She said it wasn't a big deal and everything else was great, when we talked on the phone, and it slipped my mind. That's on me. Re: check out. Check out is at 11 AM. At 11:20 I did my customary 2 knocks and then let myself into the flat, fully expecting them to be checked out. I was startled to walk in and see stuff everywhere. I was on a tight schedule that day --going to work and had another renter checking in two hours later. I quickly shut the door after I realized they were there and we spoke through the door. It was odd to me that they were sleeping and seemed totally unaware that there was a check-out time, especially since I have a relatively late check out policy (11 AM). I felt stressed by the mess I saw and told them I really needed to clean it as soon as possible and asked if they could be out in 15 minutes. I left and came back 20 minutes later. They were gone although the place was left in disarray, which was frustrating since I don't charge a cleaning fee and have a sheet that explicitly asks guests to strip their beds, etc. I typically have a very friendly repartee with my renters and am sorry that this was not the experience of Sonja.

I didn't get to stay at the property, it was already booked

  • 1 of 5

The property was double booked with another tenant from a different booking site, who was already there so the owner booked a hotel for us to stay in at her expense. It was disappointing to say the least as we were really looking forward to staying at the property we spent so much time deciding on. The weekend turned out alright though just not what we were expecting.

Owner's Response: I was very sorry that Annie and her guest were unable to stay at my property. It was actually a glitch with VRBO and/or AIRBNB as they didn't synch my calendars with this particular stay and they always do. I was on vacation and was dismayed when I found out about the double booking. I excused myself from lunch and spent an hour on the phone with hotels trying to find this guest a comparable place to stay. I used $250 of my own money (so lost money) securing a new space for these guests. Although it wasn't ideal for anyone, I feel the one star misrepresents my efforts in righting the situation. I took on the burden of finding a place for the guests (versus just cancelling their reservation and refunding them). I am sorry this happened but this rating doe not actually represent my flat.

Fantastic little space!! We enjoyed it.

The property was very easy to find. I liked how it was close to the city but tucked away in a cute neighborhood. Everything you needed was provided and it was bright and clean.
