Why Roxanne Lange chose Steamboat Springs

The fact that Steamboat has so many activities to offer and with its western heritage and down to earth attitude, It truely has something for every one. Champagne Powder, Woldclass Snowmobiling on Rabbit Ears Pass, National Forest access minutes away. Phemonianl fishing opportunities closeby. Music and Culture too!

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The convenience of being able to bring the entire family and all the pets to a safe and fun environment with enough room to spread out and enjoy. Having so many amenities on site is the definition of luxury. Having wonderful pasture for your horses, a pond for the dogs and a gameroom for the kids? And Awesome peace and quiet for you...

We had a great time. Accommodations were excellent.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the fact that we are staying on a working ranch. It was interesting to watch horses and cattle interact out on the range every day. We really enjoyed the hot tub at night looking at the stars.

Only thing lacking was more time

  • 5 of 5

I invited five of my friends to join me for a week at Sweet Air Ranch in June. I chose it because it was a very short drive outside of Steamboat and offered a nice view of the countryside. We spent untold hours during the day sitting on the spacious back deck gazing out at horses and cattle (especially the new calf Sophie) against a backdrop of mountains. At night we were in the hot tub watching shooting stars or sitting around the firepit. And in-between day and night, we were spellbound by incredible sunsets. The house is quite comfortable and afforded us plenty of room to spread out. Ingrid, the ranch manager, and Chad, her assistant, were both incredibly warm and hospitable. Things having to do with the house are, for the most part, self-explanatory, though it would have been helpful to have a one-page "at a glance" guide on site. I would also suggest a one-page piece on hand to recommend where to go and what to see in Steamboat. While the information is online, it'd be nice not to have to dig for it. (As for things to do, we caught some impressive trout while fly fishing, thanks to guides from Steamboat Flyfisher!) Overall, the ranch was what I hoped for and then some. I'd love to return to this little slice of heaven in the future!

Peaceful, luxurious and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed for a full week at the Sweet Air Ranch and we can't wait to book our next stay. The ranch itself is operational and neat for kids and Vgrown ups alike. The views are second to none. The privacy of the massive acreage is much needed when traveling in from the city and hectic work life. The Home itself has everything you need and more. This property receives an A+++!

Reconsider staying here -- Misleading description and unwarranted charges

  • 1 of 5

The property is beautiful however I would highly reconsider booking this property due to the management!!!

First of all, the pin showing where the property is located is not even close. According to VRBOs legend the property should be within a certain radius of that pin but this place is many miles away.

Secondly, the amenities listed are not necessarily provided. The barns, horse stalls, RV parking were listed as amenities when we booked. I spoke to the manager ~2 months before our arrival asking about the barns and then again the day before. I was informed after our arrival that the barns were not for general renters even though they are clearly listed in the description and amenities.

Lastly, the manager stormed into the house one morning threatening to call the cops, turn off the water and electricity and kick us out. This was hours before my wedding, which she did not care if she ruined or not. The description states that events are allowed and no restrictions or rules were provided. I took it at face value that events were allowed. The manager demanded an additional $1500 be paid immediately otherwise she was kicking us out. There were 7 people staying at the house and a total of 30 people at the wedding (lasting all of a few hours), all being very respectful of the property and abiding by all the rules we were informed of. We had no choice seeing the wedding was in a couple of hours but to pay the money. A fee that was never listed in any of the documents. I have since filed a case with VRBO due to this undocumented demand for more money.

Ranch Paradise in Steamboat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented Sweet Air ranch for an entire month this summer and we could have easily stayed for two months...or forever ha! We really hated to leave this equine haven and country paradise with all the amenities and charm you could wish for! The property and views are outstanding and the log home is spectacular...the decor and furniture are lodgey and topnotch, the bedding is luxurious and the kitchen is equipped for any culinary endeavors.

But our favorite hangout by far was the back deck. I'm not an early riser but I became one during that month because it was so awesome drinking coffee on the back deck every morning. There are so many fun things to do in town but it was tough to tear ourselves away from the ranch. I especially loved reading on the hanging bed or sitting in the chair hammocks, watching the horses and cattle graze in the fields and trot back to the barn throughout the day. We also enjoyed BBQing, sitting by the fire pit under the stars with a glass of wine, and soaking in the hot tub after a long day. We had several friends and relatives come stay with us to share the rent for the month...everyone absolutely loved it and wants to come back!

But they're not the only ones...we also brought our three dogs and three horses and they were in heaven as well! The yard around the house is probably at least an acre so the dogs had plenty of room to run around and play. The dog wash tub in the lower level was a great feature that I'd love to have here at our home. Our horses had a large pasture, incredible hay and Ingrid, the ranch manager, was very helpful and accommodating. It was really fun to watch her school the horses in the round pen and teach her 4H students in the arena. Although we trailered out several times, there was actually wonderful riding right from the ranch and we saw pronghorn antelope on every ride.

We feel quite blessed to be able to rent this amazing property and we hope to do it again next summer...it's truly my idea of paradise! Big thanks to Roxanne Lange, the property manager, for making sure that we had everything that we needed, answering any questions that we had, and helping to make our stay such an awesome experience!
