Perfect location

Very close to seafront and aeroporto bus stop. The bacony has great views across the ocean. The internal layout is very good with a nicely furnished living room dining room. The kitchen is old but has what you need. Joao was very helpful.

A great combination

Another stay on this wonderful apartment. The location is great for enjoying the fun and culture of Funchal. The apartment owner is very welcoming and helpful.

Location, Location, Location

Great downtown location to enjoy Funchal and the island of Madeira. 2 bedrooms, 2 bath. No AC, only 2 fans provided. Even in October, it was quite warm. Bedrooms at back of apartment get very little air circulation. Host lives very close and was responsive to our questions. Kitchen pans and utensils need replacing/updating. If you eat at restaurants, no worries, lots of choices.get very little air

Tolle Lage, spektakuläre Aussicht!

Wir waren 3 Wochen dort. João war sehr freundlich und hat uns alles in der Wohnung gezeigt. Die Wohnung ist sauber und gut ausgestattet. Das beste ist aber der große Balkon (4 Stühle, ein Tisch und ein großer Sonnenschirm) und die spektakuläre Aussicht auf den Hafen. 2 Sonnenliegen wären schön gewesen. Das Doppelbett war mit 140 cm recht klein und sehr hart. Es soll aber bald ausgetauscht werden. Wir wollen aber auf jeden wieder kommen.

Appartement très bien situé dans Funchal. Belle vue depuis la terrasse. Communication très facile avec notre hôte. On regrette seulement la chaleur présente toute la nuit dans les chambres malgré la présence d’un ventilateur.

Great stay

Exactly as advertised. Great location very convenient to everything. Clean, nice veranda with a great view. Spacious. The only negative was the construction directly adjacent to the location. It was noisy during the day. Overall a great stay!

Erholsame Woche

Wir haben eine schöne Woche in der Wohnung verbracht. Die Lage ist sehr gut. Alles ist bequem zu Fuss zu erreichen. Ausserdem entspricht die Wohnung genau der Beschreibung, und die Lärmbelästigung der Baustelle vor dem Haus wurde vorher vom Vermieter angekündigt. Da wir aber tagsüber unterwegs waren, hat diese uns nicht gestört. Wir würden wiederkommen.

Vorzügliche Lage in Funchal

DIe große Wohnung mit Blick über die Dächer der Altstadt bis zum Hafen ist perfekt als Ausgangspunkt für Unternehmungen in der Hauptstadt und Ausflüge über die Insel. Eine Vielzahl von Restaurants, zwei große Supermärkte und die zentrale Mmarkthalle sind im Umkreis von einem Kilometer erreichbar. Ein Mietwagen kann im nahen Parkhaus untergestellt werden. Leider ist aktuell und bis Ende 2022 der Lärm einer großen Hotelbaustelle direkt vor der Terrasse unvermeidlich und lästig.

Convenient location downtown Funchal

The apartment was lovely and we especially liked the big balcony looking out over the harbour. Unfortunately there was a big construction project across the street which made it noisy during the day but that is a temporary thing. The location is really great -close to restaurants, grocery stores etc.

Perfect place to stay in Funchal

This apartment is the best place to stay in Funchal if You want to avoid big hotels experience! It is quite and very cozy with lovely terrace on the roof with amazing view of the ocean and the port area. It is located in the very centre of the city with great restaurants around. And the owner is polite, kind and very helpful. Amazing amazing experience! Enjoyed my stay very much!

Stay in Funchal Madeira.

We have found that a stay on Madeira is best from the central position of Funchal. It always seems to have the best weather as well. Transport links are on your doorstep with plenty of shops, entertainment and restaurants This apartment fits the bill with a great view over the harbour.

Perfect city centre pad.

Four of us 50 something adults stayed at Jaoa's place for a week. It is perfectly located right in the centre of Funchal which gives you access to all the sights, shops and restaurants etc. The apartment was spotlessly clean, spacious, comfortable and has every amenity you would need. It has the absolute bonus of having a large sun terrace that gets the sun from morning to evening, a rare find in a city! Jaoa was always available in his shop if you needed anything, but we didn't have to bother him. We would certainly recommend Jaoa's place for a stay.

A good find .

Many of the Hotels in Funchal are actually a walking distance or bus ride from the centre therefore this apartment is a prefect location , with restaurants on the door step meant we had lots of choice of where too eat within strolling distance as well as all the tourist attractions. However the kitchen also provided all the means to eat in if you choose to do that. We thought the layout of the apartment was excellent, apart from air conditioning from building behind the only noise was the pigeons.

The apartment was in the center of Funchal and walkable to the shops and restaurents. The views from the top floor apartment were great and the balcony was large to accompany four people. The apartment was well appointed. Overall the apartment was great, but the hot water in the showers were limited and the beds were not very comfortable.

Besser geht's nicht

Mein Mann und ich hatten diese wunderbare Wohnung mit unseren erwachsenen Töchtern für eine Woche im April gemietet. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt, da sie großzügig geschnitten, sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und mit allem, was man braucht ausgestattet ist und wir von hier aus optimale Möglichkeiten für kleinere und größere Ausflüge oder zum Stadtbummel hatten. Wir haben auch den großen Südbalkon mit dem Blick auf den Kreuzfahrt-Anlegekai sehr genossen. Die Vermieter waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben schöne Ausflüge mit Linienbussen gemacht z. B. zum Botanischen Garten, zur Baia d'Abra am äußersten Ostzipfel (sehr zu empfehlen!), nach Camara de Lobos und nach Santana. dabei muss man sich allerdings zunächst mit den vier verschiedenen Busgesellschaften und den entsprechenden zahlreichen Haltestellen vertraut machen. Die Touristeninformation ganz in der Nähe ist dabei behilflich. Man kann auch gut Bustouren mit Taxifahrten kombinieren, um an entlegenere Stellen zu kommen. Wir haben auch den Flughafenbus genutzt, der zwar günstig ist, allerdings oft sehr verspätet (>20 Min.). Es ist also ratsam nicht zu knapp zu planen. Eine Woche verging sehr schnell und wir haben längst nicht alles gemacht, was wir gerne unternommen hätten, auch weil die Wolken über den Bergen im Inselinneren meistens sehr tief hingen. Wir würden also gerne noch einmal wiederkommen.

Very comfortable flat in the heart of Funchal with great views

This is a large 2-bed apartment with a terrace (views right across Funchal Bay), in the centre of Funchal near the Zarco statue, Golden Gate and Palacio do Sao Lourenco (and the sea front). It's well-equipped and comfortable, and the living rooms are a good size; you have a choice of eating in the kitchen or living room, or on the terrace (the outside furniture has been replaced since the photo). The nearby streets are pedestrian, so hardly any traffic noise. The bedrooms open on to a courtyard where there is some noise from other buildings' air conditioning. Good showers, but you have to allow time for the water to heat up again. We cooked on several occasions and the kitchen is well-equipped, though if you need one bring a wooden spatula. There's a small supermarket nearby in the Sao Lourenco centre, and two large ones within a 10min walk, along with plenty of eating places. Joao the owner is very helpful and has a shop downstairs, though we only needed to find him once to ask where to put the rubbish. A good find - highly recommended for a stay in central Funchal.

Perfect for a family holiday

We loved Joao's apartment. Very centrally located it is perfect and spacious for 4 adults. Everything is very walkable, close to market, harbour, supermarkets. A major taxi stand is 2 min away as well as numerous bus stops including aerobus. We made breakfast with the full kitchen provided and enjoyed a great view of the harbour and cruise ships on the balcony. 5th floor means you are away from street noise and you have a private lift that takes u there. Overall great value and we look forward to returning.

Perfect place for a Funchal week away

Great, well-equipped, flat; fabulous balcony & views and a perfect central location, down a quiet alleyway that only buzzed gently with (mostly local) activity. It was the perfect flat for us. Wunderschönes Apartment mit tollem Blick in super Lage

Wir waren Anfang des Jahres für zwei Wochen im Apartment und können es nur von ganzem Herzen weiterempfehlen! Ein Traumblick über die Stadt, den Hafen und die Kreuzfahrtschiffe, sehr hell und sonnig und super ausgestattet. Küche und Wohnzimmer schauen auf die riesige Dachterrasse, die man praktisch als zusätzliches Zimmer nutzen kann, die zwei Schlafzimmer auf einen Lichthof. Insgesamt ist es trotz der zentralen Lage sehr ruhig. Nur an das Geräusch der Belüftungsanlagen muss man sich anfangs etwas gewöhnen, aber die sieht man in Funchal überall. ;) Das Apartment liegt im 5.Stock (mit Fahrstuhl!) zwischen den beiden Hauptachsen Avenida do Mar, die direkt am Meer und Hafen entlang läuft, und der Avenida Arriaga, an der viele schöne Cafés (u.a. Café Ritz und Golden Gate) zu finden sind. Viele Sehenswürdigkeiten und Lieblingsorte wie die wunderschöne Markthalle und die Talstation der Seilbahn sind zu Fuß zu erreichen, für alle weiter gelegenen Ziele starten direkt an der Avenida do Mar alle Busse. Dort hält übrigens auch der Aerobus (Haltestelle Nr. 6), der in einer knappen halben Stunde für 5 Euro (Hin- und Rückfahrt 8 Euro) zum Flughafen fährt. Der Besitzer João ist sehr freundlich und bei Bedarf immer verfügbar: Er wohnt im Apartment direkt gegenüber und betreibt im Erdgeschoss einen Laden mit Souvenirs, Stickereien und sonstigen Madeira-Produkten. Alles in allem: Ein wunderschöner Ort für einen wunderschönen Urlaub!
