Had a great week visiting DC from Texas and this house made it possible. Anything perceived as negative in this review, I'm sure, has already been addressed as I have not communicated with the owner first. It was all ready for us and I had no need to pester the owner while we were there.
A common problem I see in host homes is that there are too many pots/pans etc which makes it difficult to keep them all clean and organized. I'm a freak in this regard due to my occupation, so my standard is likely different than most. But in all that I couldn't find a coffee pot.
The mirror needs to be mounted in the downstairs bathroom. Water pressure and temperature were great throughout the home. Lots of towels available. Lots of them which was great for the 8 of us. Laundry machines worked great.
We're from rural Texas and I was nervous about security in DC but my wife/fam said they never once felt threatened or uneasy. There are more homeless in DC than here and the local (super easy to access) drug store/grocery store have stuff locked up and extra security guards which was strange to us. Just a cultural difference is all. This home is about 200 feet from a gigantic police station and the people were all friendly that we talked to.
We used the easy to access and park "Congress Heights" subway stop daily for all our touring. We also visited the Frederic Douglass home which is maybe a 5 minute drive from this home.
Thanks to the host, we had a great trip. I definitely recommend.
