About The Owner

I'm a lifelong North Shore resident who has a passion for the area and wants to share it with guests.

We choose the 'off the beaten path' accommodations when traveling ourselves and we wanted to offer that option to others visiting our community.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2010

Why The Owner chose Evanston

We designed and built this unit with the short term traveler in mind. We share a love for the Southwest and Latin America and that interest is reflected in our home.

What makes this apartment unique

We enjoy the neighborhood and our favorite way to start the day is to take a jog to the lake and then grab a cup of coffee or breakfast at one of the nearby coffee shops.

Ryan Field and Northwestern football is only a short walk away and the nearby Bluestone is our favorite spot for apres game..

4 Nights for business

  • 5 of 5

I really enjoyed this space and would come back anytime! It has a nice homey feel and had everything needed for cooking and was also close to nice places to go out to as well. The back patio was very nice to sit outside, especially near dusk when the fireflies put on a show!

More than enough space to be comfortable and the design is fun and happy.

A very nice area to walk around and not too far from the lake either. It was a great place to come 'home' to after a days work!

John was easy to work with and was available if needed. Overall, a really great place and area!

Excellent home away from home in Chicago

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at Casita Reva.

We absolutely love this place.

We stayed here last summer for work in Chicago because it was accessible by the subway and close to the interstate.

Then we chose to stay there again this summer for an entire week because

we really love to owners (helpful, warm and accessible),

we love the apartment (it's gorgeous, comfortable, convenient and spacious),

and the location is excellent (this part of Evanston is walking distance from the subway

but also in a gorgeous part of town with cafes, yoga studios and restaurants all a block away).

We are so pleased with this apartment and the owners

that we're already planning a 3rd trip for 2018 and plan to stay again.

We're two professors who like to be comfortable when we travel, and this play is fabulous!

The appliances are in great condition. The bed is comfortable.

The bathroom/kitchen are clean and modern.

Next time we home to stay for 2 weeks!

Very clean, extremely convenient location with quirky charm

  • 5 of 5

Located in the remodeled garage of a typical older Chicago apartment building. Very close - walking distance - to great restaurants. In Evanston, close to Northwestern. Commuter rail to downtown 2 blocks away, EL about a mile away. Nice quiet neighborhood. Lovely outdoor courtyard. Owner lives on site and is very pleasant. Immediately responded to TV issue we had. Would definitely book again when back in Chicago.

Hands down the best place to stay in Evanston!

  • 5 of 5

The Casita Reva is hands down the best place to stay for a trip to Evanston. The location of the building is perfect - a 5 minute walk from the Central St Metra, a 10 minute walk from Welsh-Ryan Arena and Ryan Field, one block away from the wonderful Central St shopping area, a 5-10 minute drive from Downtown Evanston, and just a few minute drive from Northwestern's beautiful campus and the lakefront area. There are numerous restaurants and coffee shops all within walking distance, and Old Orchard Mall is just a 10 minute drive away. Whatever your purpose in Evanston, you cannot go wrong with the Casita.

Additionally, the interior space is absolutely lovely. It immediately feels cozy and homey, with wonderful New Mexican influences in the design. Laundry is in the basement, which is accessible from inside the Casita. The kitchen has everything you could need and more. The shower is excellent, and the bed is very comfortable. You will love the Casita! Also, there is a great outdoor patio space just outside the Casita that is perfect for enjoying time with friends and family on warm summer's nights.

Finally, when you choose to stay at the Casita you will get more than just an amazing place to stay - you get the chance to meet amazing people and make life-long friends. John and Amy have become like family to me, and seeing them makes each of my stay's in Evanston that much more special. Choose to stay at the Casita and I promise you, you will not regret it!

Unsafe bed

  • 1 of 5

I saw the photos of the bed but didn't register the risk until I arrived. The bed is 3 ½ - 4 feet off the floor, and to get off, you have to use the steps. The first morning, half-asleep, I stepped down on the front half of one of the steps and fell off. I won't be back.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry to hear about your experience with our raised platform bed. Note that in our 5 years of renting this property, we had not had a negative review and no one has every complained about the raised platform bed. Regardless, I'm glad you pointed out your experience and I will note that the bed is a platform bed in our listing so there are no surprises.

Great Location with all the Amenities

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is in a great location near shops, restaurants and public transportation. They've provided all the amenities you could want from a complete kitchen to the bathroom nightlight. John and Amy were always available to answer questions or make suggestions. We'll be returning on our next visit to the Chicago area.
