About Mary Logue

My husband and I fell in love with the ocean when we moved from Minnesota to Miami upon graduating from University. We now enjoy our life in North Carolina between the mountains and the beach. We first vacationed as a family in St. Thomas at the suggestion of our son, Eric, who is certified in deep sea diving, in the spring of 1999. It was so incredibly beautiful and enjoyable that we purchased a villa at the lovely Sapphire Beach Resort & Marina. I have since retired from teaching art and my husband has retired to Professor Emeritus status at Duke Medical Center here in Durham, NC. Eric now owns Logue Healthcare Consulting Company and is living in Atlanta, GA, enjoying direct flights to STT. Our other son, Sean, a manager of software engineering at IBM in NC, has joined in this wonderful experience. We all make regular trips to Sapphire Beach together and with friends. We like to celebrate our anniversary there and watch the fireworks being set off at St. John on New Year's Eve from our balcony. It remains the best get-away ever!

Mary Logue purchased this condo in 1999

Why Mary Logue chose East End

St.Thomas is that rare place that we enjoy returning to again and again without ever running out of interesting and enjoyable things to do and see. Sapphire Beach is conveniently located for access to shopping, restaurants and other Islands. We have explored St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix, Tortola, Virgin Gorda plus the caves of Norman Island and love all of the Virgin Islands. We always are happy to return to the incredibly beautiful Sapphire Beach. It's a wonderful place to begin and end each day.

What makes this condo unique

We love our top floor condo in E building for its spectacular view, ocean breezes, and quiet, calming environment. This spacious, well-designed, two-story condo affords us flexibility and comfort. One can sleep or work upstairs while another watches TV or enjoys an early morning cup of coffee downstairs. There is no one else above or below the bedroom and no one else looking down on our balconies or looking in from the beach. Building E is at the quiet end of the beach and is convenient to the marina, laundry facility, pool, coral reef, and restaurant.

Mary's condo is so beautiful and comfortable and in such a beautiful location you just may not want to ever leave! It is right on sapphire beach which we thought was the best beach on all of st Thomas! It is a great snorkeling spot and close to a marina for any water activities you may want. The condo is amazing and is in a building closer to the marina and in a quieter spot. The sunrise is not to be missed even on cloudy days. Per Mary's suggestion we did ended up renting a car and we were glad we did as the food option at sapphire is limited to two locations and even though they do offer good food we loved the freedom of having a car to go out for dinner and for beach hopping and driving on the left was fun! We also took the ferry ride to St. John and rented a jeep there and drove around the entire island which was amazing especially snorkeling at trunk bay! I strongly recommend that for anyone debating whether to do a guided tour at St. John or doing it on your own. My tip is get to trunk bay early before the tourists from cruise ships get there because by the time it was noon snorkeling would have been impossible that's how crowded it gets! All in all I will most definitely book Mary's condo again and I can't wait to go back! Thanks Mary for being such an amazing host!

Beautiful condo!

  • 4 of 5

Condo was very comfortable and exactly as described. Many great amenities and fully stocked kitchen. Although we didn't do a lot of cooking, it was equipped with anything you would need. Enjoyed the quietness of Sapphire Beach and beautiful view of St. John from the condo. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Owner's Response: I'm pleased that this family enjoyed their stay at my condo on Sapphire Beach. Yes, the view is perhaps the best thing about this unit. The ocean and skies are gorgeous from sunrise to sundown and, even after, there is moonlight and twinkling lights of St. John.

Breathtaking views! Pure relaxation! Stop looking and book it, this is the one!

  • 5 of 5

Location, location, location. Beautiful views of the island and ocean. Loved how the prints inside the condo were actually pictures from

Sapphire Beach. Mary's condo is located right next to the marina away from the more crowded beach like other units at this resort. Even when a cruise boat was in we didn't know because we were the only ones on our little beach. We loved watching the fishing boats come in and even bought fresh Mahi from them. Lovely coral reefs on this little private beach saw fish and a ray. Upstairs bed extremely comfortable, husband has me on a search for the sheets for our house. Downstairs couch converts to a bed, foam mattress topper to place on top for extra comfort. Daughter has me on a search for the island theme throw pillows but most of all the blue throw blanket (would love to know where they came from?) Great outdoor grill on balcony. Pool overlooking the ocean was beautiful. Our favorite was walking on the island rocks looking for critters in the water every evening and drinking a drink from the sapphire beach bar/grill located onsite.

Groceries about 1/2 mile away at Moe's in Red Hook felt the safest. We cooked a lot of meals in the kitchen we had everything we needed to do so. Red hook dive center and lattes in paradise were great businesses there. If your going to order a pizza, order from senor pizza in red hook they deliver to your door, tasted wonderful, wings are hot too! Definitely see Coral World and book an activity. We did sea trek and saw a sea turtle on our dive, we pet turtles in the turtle pool, and our daughter swam with a sea lion.

Mary was excellent to work with, quick communications and provided extra info about the island and even a map before arrival. We rented a car (DRIVE ON LEFT) and parking was provided. Thank you for sharing your place of paradise with us.

Owner's Response: I admit I spent a lot of time researching before redecorating our condo and also compiling a list of my favorite island activities, restaurants and information to share but a really great vacation like this one happens when the guests approach it the way this family did. For other animal lovers, please know that Sea Lions have tough skin, unlike Dolphins, and are wonderful to swim with. It's extremely satisfying to get a report like this one. Mary

Sapphire Beach Review E-308

  • 5 of 5

This unit is in a great location, on a quiet stretch of Sapphire Beach and away from all the crowding and noise associated with the other 3 units. Beautifully appointed and with just superb views over to the BVI and St. John, we really love staying here.

Idyllic Setting

  • 5 of 5

A home away from home that rests on one of the most prolific coves of live coral on St. Thomas. The kitchen is equipped with everything an "island chef" needs (along with a marina of fishermen next door). I cooked breakfast, lunch and several dinners with ease. A management staff that responded quickly and exceeded expectations (always the exception but standard at Sapphire Beach Resort). Top quality snorkel gear made it easy to enjoy natures wonders. A stone's throw to Red Hook, we had easy access to restaurants and every nearby island - St. John, Tortolla, Virgin Gorda, St. Croix. A once in a lifetime experience. A trip that we will never forget, yet, will strive to repeat. An idyllic setting for my daughter and me!

Owner's Response: It was important to me that this father daughter duo have a special, shared experience while staying in our condo at Sapphire Beach. They made it happen but it was gratifying to have played a part in this successful adventure. I would certainly welcome them back for further exploration of these beautiful islands. Mary

Mary's place is an excellant location for your first or future trips!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time to stay at Mary's place. It's hard to go somewhere else. Not only is the view beautiful but it's strategic in location. Red Hook is right around the corner which has local eateries, shopping and the ferry to St. John. There is a harbour right ot the door that has multipule excursions from fishing to trips to Tortola and beyond.

This condo is amazing as it has the most wonderful views both day and night. Watch the sun or even more, moon rise over St. John.

The condo has anything and everything you need. From snorkle gear to super glue. Grab some groceries and snacks from Moes Grocery right around the corner.

The infamous Sapphire Beach is around the corner as well. Absolutely beautiful and surreal.

Word of caution when visiting beaches on St. Thomas. Be concious of cruise ship days, yhe beaches on St. Thomas become conjested and crowded. Our suggestion, take the ferry in Red Hook over to St. John and head to the East End for some relaxation.

Thank you Mart for and absolutely enjoyable experience. See you next time!!!

Perfection once again

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Mary's condo for a second time because we were so delighted the first time. We brought along my two sisters so we had 4 adults. The condo accommodated us just fine. Mary has anticipated every need from snorkel equipment to movies. The view is spectacular and the condo is cozy...what more could you want?

Maybe we'll see you again next year!

Owner's Response: This couple was a pleasure to host a year ago. I am happy this second stay was as good especially since two sisters were included. As one of five sisters, I know how important this is. I would love to have them all return for a third stay. Mary
