For our annual family vaca we chose to book The Pickle Haus through Frio River Vacation Rentals. The location was perfect for both access to the river and anything we could possibly need or want on our long weekend trip. We had forgotten to bring a long extension cord at 7:30 at night (to play a movie from our projector on our portable outdoor screen) and managed to find one at a convenience shop less than 15 minutes away - B Happy had everything we needed. We’ve rented many houses in the past and the homes never quite live up to the description nor the online pics. This house was the exception. The whole family played pickle ball and swam in the beautiful pool. The kitchen had all the dishes and cooking equipment we could possibly want. The house was very clean and well maintained. Half the group enjoyed 4 hours of golf and even stopped back by the house on their final hole before returning their carts to the clubhouse right down the road. As wonderful as the house was we really enjoyed all the outdoor amenities, bbq for steaks, pool, fire pit and of course pickle ball. I would not only come back to this house but will highly recommend it to friends who also enjoy pickle ball. Thanks to the friendly management team who also exceeded our expectations.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house itself is beautiful and so spacious. Our group of 15 really enjoyed the home and all the outside activities. We did have some trouble with a lot of bees but that is not the fault of the rental company. Would love to go back and stay during the summer.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re truly grateful you took the time to share your experience. It means so much to hear that your group enjoyed the spacious home and all the outdoor activities. We’re especially glad it could comfortably host all 15 of you! We’re sorry about the bees, though we appreciate your understanding that it was outside of our control. Thank you for being so gracious about it. We’d absolutely love to welcome you back—especially in the summer when everything is in full bloom. And thank you again for the menudo it was delicious!!!

Entertaining

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home was clean and cool upon arrival. Bring your pickle balls and racquets. Corn hole set up is on point. Swimming pool was nice and careful walking into the rooms. Floors are slick. My cousin slipped, fell and got her arm bruised. Other than that the home was well worth it.

Memorial Day to Remember

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at The Pickle Houz over Memorial Day weekend, and it was absolutely perfect for our crew! We had a wide range of kids—from 4 to 17—and the house kept everyone entertained (which is no small feat). The kitchen had everything we needed for big group meals, and we especially loved the large pantry space. The included rounds of golf were a hit with the dads, and the whole layout of the house made it easy for everyone to spread out and relax, but still feel connected.Frio River Vacation Rentals made the entire process so easy from start to finish. We had the best weekend and are already talking about our next trip back. Highly recommend The Pickle Houz for any group looking for comfort, fun, and a great location!
Response from VrboOwner on May 29, 2025
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay we look forward to seeing you again next year! Remember all year is a good time to spend at the Frio. Be sure to check out events happening all year long, In September golfing, bird watching and dove hunting plus fun times at the river. October brings some of the same plus the BBQ cookoff, Car shows and Motorcycle rally, November brings cool breeze campfires roasting marshmallows, Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving, December brings the Christmas parade and crafts booths. All year is a good time to get away and enjoy the Frio. Pickle Ball Houz is fun all year.

We had plenty of room for our family of eight adults and six littles. The pool was perfect for adult relaxing and the littles enjoyed the shallow end. The court was very nice and well engineered. We already reserved for next year.
