Great location great house

Great location, grocery store right around the corner. Quick access to anywhere in Richmond via Chippenham. Kim was always ready to help at any time. We really enjoyed our stay. We’ll stay there again.

The Happy Place was just Right!

The location and accommodations were perfect for a History focused trip in and around Richmond. After our day trips, we would get back and relax. The house is surprisingly spacious and Kimberly was lovely to work with - very responsive!😀

Soccer Tournamnet Weekend Away

We had a great stay at the Happy Place and wished we'd had more time to explore the local area. The house was very clean, and spacious with lots of modern equipment. We had big soccer tournament in the local area which was 15 moinutes drive from the house so it was perfect location for us to relax in between the games. Thank you for great stay at The Happy Place.

Cozy and comfortable

We were in town from NJ for a field hockey tournament over the holidays. Rather than stay in a hotel, we rented this property as a home base. The house was clean and cozy and we enjoyed having family meals in the kitchen and spending time together in the family room. The neighborhood is a quiet cul-de-sac and convenient to restaurants, groceries, gas and the River City Sports complex.

The house is old and smelly. The instant we walked into the house my wife had an allergic reaction to the mold and old smell in the house. We vacated immediately.

I’m truly sorry that your stay at The Happy Place didn’t meet your expectations and that your wife experienced discomfort during your brief visit. Guest satisfaction and comfort are my top priorities, and I take all feedback seriously. To address your concerns: 1. Regarding the condition of the house: The Happy Place has been recently renovated, including the addition of new flooring, and there is no mold or “old smell” present. Before every guest’s arrival, I thoroughly clean and prepare the space to ensure a fresh and welcoming environment. 2. Air fresheners: I do use air freshener plug-ins in the house to create a pleasant-smelling atmosphere for guests, which has been well-received by many previous visitors. However, I understand that some guests may have sensitivities to certain fragrances. I immediately removed the air fresheners upon learning of your wife’s reaction, aired out the home, and offered additional accommodations to make the space more comfortable. 3. Reservation changes: I accommodated your request to modify your reservation for an earlier arrival, even though this was outside the standard procedure. I also worked to address your concerns promptly, but I understand you chose not to return to the property. While I regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, I want to assure you that I strive to provide a clean, comfortable, and enjoyable space for all guests. Happy place indeed!

We loved our stay at the Happy Place! This house has an eclectic, homey feel. Lots of space! Was very clean. Nice quiet neighborhood, and close to Richmond for some great fun and restaurants. Kitchen is well stocked for cooking. Nice back attached patio with lots of seating and a charcoal grill, and all you need to tend it, glass door leads into the sitting room. Beds are comfortable, one is extra tall and on the firm side. Plenty of linens stocked over the washer/dryer in the hall and laid out, ready in the bedrooms. There is a ramp to the front door. Owner lives near by and very responsive to questions.

Needs a Professional Cleaning Company

The cleanliness was well below expectations and ruined our entire stay-kitchen countertops we well as kitchen table and living room desk were covered in a layer of filth. Couldn’t walk around without shoes on-very hard to do with small kids so we resorted to washing their feet every night before bed. We did way more cleaning than we should have had to do. The host did reach out the day of to let us know the prior renters smoked in the house even though there is a non smoking policy-the house smelled the entire time.The rental had good reviews which is why we selected to stay here so I would like to think it was a one time situation based on previous renters but I would highly recommend a professional cleaning company as it was apparent one is not currently being used. Attempted to reach out to the host before posting this review. Host asked if there was anything she would could to make it better, but quickly realized she didn’t mean what she said.

I'm from Ricmond Va, I'm a military veteran, I lived in my Happy place for over 20 years were I raised my children and grandchildren, I love spending time with my family. I love being a host because I get to meet so many different people with all types of back grounds, and from so many different places, I want others to enjoy The happy Place and much as my family and I did.

Why they chose this property

I chose this neighborhood because it was in culdesac, great for the grandchildren to play outside. It is quiet and safe. I also like the trees.

What makes this property unique

The Happy Place is spacious, open and roomy, theres not a lot of places in the area that can accommodate as many people as I can, my family is close, I spend a lot of time with grandchildren, they enjoyed the space to run around and we could all be together during Special events and holidays. Especially Thanksgiving and Christmas
