Wedding Success @ Casa de Luz

We hosted our wedding here and it was incredible! It was the perfect setting for a tropical destination wedding with a ceremony on the beach and a reception by the pool with drinks and dancing on the porch, plenty of room for our guest and the kitchen served as a great spot for a caterer. Everything went off without a hitch and we absolutely loved it and will never forget the time we spent here! If I were to make a suggestion to the host, I would probably make sure that fresh towels are delivered as I spent the weekend using dirty towels (bride needed a clean towel for her big day) which was slightly disappointing- the home could have cleaner, we probably should have hired a cleaning service to help us make sure our guests rooms had service during our stay. Other than that, everything was perfect! If you’re looking to tie the knot - this is the spot!

Amazing Costa Rica getaway

We had a large group of 12 (combo of family & friends) stay for a week at Casa De Luz. The house was spacious and worked out great for our groups needs. Lorena and Liz were fantastic cooks for us all week and Rafa was very helpful scheduling excursions and golf cart rentals we wanted. Casa De Luz is a great location if you want to be on the beach in a safe neighborhood but close enough to drive the golf cart into Tamarindo to shop, grab dinner, or enjoy the nightlife.

Amazing spring break stay!

We just had an incredible spring break with 3 families at Casa de Luz-3 older teens stayed in the Casita which was perfect for them and the adults and other children stayed in the main house. The pool set up is beautiful and shady by late afternoon. The beach is wonderful to watch sunsets. You need water shoes to get in the ocean at low tide and it is not advised to swim at high tide due to the rocks. The house is beautiful, the staff is fabulous and made as breakfast each morning, cleaned everything and did our laundry. We used the private chef service for two dinners and they were so good. They made us snacks, appetizers and drinks as well. Rafa is great-he organized all of our transportation and excursions. He also communicated when things did not go as planned-did have no water a couple of times due to water shortage and the main gate was not working, but he got on it as quickly as he could, especially during a holiday week. He made us dinner reservations as well and added a few people to an excursion last minute. He responded quickly and always ensured we were well taken care of. Playa Longosta is a quieter part of town with great places to eat and an easy golf cart ride into Tamarindo. We loved our week, it is paradise!

This is the spot!!!

Epic house. We took 14 friends to Costa Rica and all I can say is this house was the PERFECT venue to host the location!!! Beach front, beautiful and big. The host/concierge Rafa is the MAN!! From the point you book your stay he basically quarterbacks your entire trip!!! Want to make yourself look like the most well-organized travel planner your friends have ever met? You need Rafa to plan your stay in Tamarindo. The house staff was amazing, house was always clean and food and drinks during the day constantly coming out… whether it was breakfast, ceviche, fun drinks, immaculate dinners. Staying at this place truly allows you to just book your flights and forget the rest. Leave it to Rafa and his team at “Stay in Tamarindo” coordinate the trip of a lifetime.

Wonderful Family Visit to Tamarindo

Wow! What an incredible experience at Casa De Luz! My family of 12 adults and one adorable baby boy spent a week enjoying the sea and pool. The house had excellent gathering spaces and was very comfortable. Rafa provided spot on service both before and during our stay, attending to all of our needs in a timely and professional manner. Our daytime housekeeper prepared a great breakfast daily. Not to be overlooked was the fabulous evening meals prepared by Patricia. Truly a Costa Rican food extravaganza! Thank you to the Stay at Tamarindo staff for an outstanding experience!

below expectations

unfortunately this home did not meet mine or my friends (7) expectations 1- the listing mislead us to believe all the bedrooms were private, however the upstairs bedrooms were a railroad and you must go through bedrooms to get to three bedrooms to get to one 2- ice maker refrigerator compartment on the blink 3- dishwasher leak day one through day 6 workers there banging and causing the party vibe to fade fast 4- Zaida the in house breakfast snack and drink maker took advantage of the language barrier and left everyday after breakfast instead of catering to our needs as described in the vrbo summary 5- door locks were all jammed and almost impossible to easily open 6- had a fuse blown after dishwasher was finally fixed and had to report it, then move all our food to a back up refrigerator in a completely different part of the house bc the kitchen frig malfunctioned. not fun getting ice for drinks in a completely different area and especially when we hired a chef and she used the non functioning frig to store our leftovers no safe in the second master main floor as all rooms should have safes! This home is in need of a facelift and thorough scrubbing! the interior ceiling rafters and beams are covered in dust and there was some area in the kitchen cabinet base that smelled funky. the host didn’t meet us on arrival day either which was a strong disappointment. When he finally made his way over due to car issues, our initial bedroom situation was already situated.

Howley Family Vacation

We had a fabulous stay and our family of 8 adults and 4 teenage boys, had a wonderful time. The house was so well laid out, that we all had plenty of space and enjoyed the grounds and location immensely. The location was the cherry on top of the sundae. Golf carting to stores, restaurants, food trucks, grocery stores was so easy. Would highly recommend this home to others.

Stunning house, wonderful service, one inconvenience

We loved our time there. A beautiful facility inside and out; beautifully decorated. Staff kept it clean inside and out; great access to the beach. However we must bring up that the inconvenience of the access to the upstairs baths was not obvious in advance.

Great location with gorgeous sunsets

We traveled with six adults and six kids and had a great time at Casa de Luz. The house has a beautiful pool with easy access and views of the beach and sunset. Our group had plenty of room to spread out over the property. The house location was perfectly placed in Playa Langosta with easy access to Tamarindo via golf cart. Rafa our concierge took care of EVERYTHING. Rafa was truly fantastic, and we would highly recommend this property and asking form him to help with your vacation. He made everything at the house seamless, including transportation to & from the airport, golf carts delivered to the house, grocery delivery, meals prepared at the house (including freshly caught mahi-mahi that he also helped book the offshore charter), coordinating with the pool and cleaning staff, zip line tours, etc. We look forward to returning soon!

Great location and pool!

We had a group of 19 of us, consisting of 4 different families. Great layout, however, there isn't a designated washroom for the middle two rooms (bunk room and transformer room) upstairs. The beds on the main floor were not comfortable, too firm, but it was a nice surprise that both were King size beds! We had thought that we would have been greeted by someone and shown around the house upon arrival but we were just sent the codes to access the gate and house. The hot water in the master bedroom is run by a timer system that we didn't get figured out until over half way through the trip. The housekeepers arrived at the house every day at 8:30 and asked us if we wanted breakfast prepared and/or our rooms cleaned. We did order groceries online in advance from a store that Rafa recommended to us, which really helped us be prepared right away without having to run off to get groceries first thing. The pool and grounds were amazing! The kids spent hours swimming and looking for creatures and shells in the tide pools and on the beach. We rented golf carts and spent a lot of time going back and forth to town getting food and shopping. We took a catamaran tour to do some snorkelling. Unfortunately, there was nothing to see the day we went out as the water was super murky. So we essentially paid a lot of money to take a catamaran ride! We also had a surf lesson, which we really enjoyed. Very good instructors! Not a lot of tours close by but lots if you're willing to take a couple hour bus ride one way. Overall, great trip!

Family 60th Birthday trip

We took our children, grandchildren, best friends and extended family. With 17 people we needed a larger home. This home was almost perfect for our group. Only thing would have been better is if the bunk room wasn’t connected to two other rooms and we had one more Shower for the kids/ The house is well used and wasn’t as clean as it could have been for the price but the location was spectacular!! So I just bought some cleaning supplies, a veggie peeler, and spiffed things up a bit. Rafa was amazing and very responsive. House staff was very friendly but didn’t really cook breakfast like I was hoping to have it done so I just did it. Trips we booked were amazing we had a great time!

Villa with beautiful sunsets

We celebrated my parent's 50th anniversary in this villa. There were 15 of us in the house for the week and the house mom's were incredible. It was very nice to have breakfast cooked and the villa cleaned every morning. We did have issues with the washing machine and Rafa and his crew repaired the issue next day. Then the washer broke again that night and they brought us a replacement. My family and I did not get our luggage so the washing machine was very important to us. The location is fantastic and a short walk along the beach or street to the main beach. I would recommend this villa and we plan to be back sometime in the future.

Family Reunion

Everything first class. House was nice, clean and location was good. Two problems: House advertised as fitting 20+ guests, however the number is closer to 16. We had to purchase 3 air mattresses to fit our family. Beach access was limited plus it was a public beach that was busy at all times including overnight. We did not feel we were on the beach.

Perfect place for our family vacation

We had a wonderful stay for a family vacation. Highly recommend getting the private chef for dinner. The concierge was wonderful at scheduling and coordinating all of the diverse activities for our large group.

FAMILY WEDDING

We selected this property for our family gathering and to house everyone for our oldest daughter's wedding. The location and home were perfect with plenty of space for everyone and a great central gathering spot to have meals and quality time together. This home also provided a perfect location for our daughter and her family members to get ready for the wedding, we also took some great family photos down by the beach. The staff helped on a daily basis with the grounds and some cleaning. They were very respectful and helpful. Overall we had an excellent experience and stay here.

It was everything it needed to be for four families with kids ranging from age 7 to 13. The pool is amazing. The walk to town is about 3/4 of a mile so it takes bit, we loved using the golf cart. The private dinners were a huge plus! The service was nothing short of amazing.

Wonderful time in paradise

Our family of 10 adults and 9 children enjoyed our week at Casa de Luz. The accommodations are spectacular and the service superb. We highly recommend the chef making dinner - made our meal times so less stressful with the grandkids. We will definitely be back some time in the future!

Amazing place for large family holiday

My group of 21 family members had an amazing time at Casa De Luz. The kitchen and seating areas were great for the large group. The pool was very nice for the kids to have ‘on-property’ supervised fun. The beach with really fun tidal pools, and the beach-side hammocks and chairs were an amazing connection to the Pacific Ocean. I highly recommend Casa De Luz but will point out two things you should be aware of. First, it is a solid mile to Tamarindo or just over a mile to the middle of town. We had a couple cars and it was good to have some transport, but many of us walked it many times. There are some groceries a little closer. Golf carts would be a good option if you don’t want to have cars, but book early. Next, we had 6 adult couples and kids, right at max capacity. The sleeping arrangements worked out fine for us, but are a little tricky and for a group that big compromises had to be made regarding privacy. So I recommend digging into the bedroom arrangements for large groups. So in a perfect world it would have been slightly closer to town and slightly simpler sleeping arrangements, but everything else about this house and the week I spent there makes up for these minor imperfections and more. I would book it again for sure.

Spectacular Property right off the beach!

Our stay was wonderful! This property is gorgeous with amazing sunsets and space for everyone. Our concierge Rafa was so helpful and nice going out of his way with all our requests, real attention to details. We had the in-house chef Patricia cook for us twice, including maki-maki caught that day by my son! We rented golf carts making the trip into town fun. We were a group of 12 and the villa had perfect accommodations for all of us. We took advantage of having massages at the villa as well as the tours offered by the property company and all were great! Highly recommend Casa de Luz and Stay in Tamarindo for your trip!!

Amazing property yes, people who work at the property A+, Concierge, Aly, creates a "Ritz" vacation

Our family, now at 16, meets every 2 years for a reunion. We have been doing this for 20+ years and have met around the globe. We have been using VRBO for all the trips. This property, the people working there daily, plus the company handling the property and especially Aly, their concierge, were the best we have have encountered! If you want to be in Tamarindo and have a large group...THIS IS YOUR PLACE! As other reviews say, the property is exactly as the photo describe. Don't let the "don't swim at the beach in front of house" deter you. It is a 4 minute golf car ride to a perfect place for ages 8 to 75 to swim. The people: Zaida who runs the housekeeping and cooks breakfast...delightful and happy! Harvey who takes care of outside and pool...charming and great with the whole family. The chef, Patricia, you will NOT be disappointed, amazing...her tamales, wrapped in banana leafs, A+; her Columbian dishes, A+, her salads each day, A+....let's just say we all, 16 of us, were impressed and loved having her and her "helpers/family" around each day...lunch and dinner!! Costa Ricans are a happy group and Casa de Luz has the happiest and nicest you can find!! When I say that Aly planned our trip, arranged all our transportation and followed up to make sure all was terrific, I say it with respect and gratitude. If you are wondering where to stay...THIS IS THE PLACE!! Book it today....

Perfect vacation home

We had 9 adults and 5 children on our trip. Aly with Casa de Luz went above and beyond to make our trip perfect. We had golf carts waiting for us and she helped set up numerous transportation including airport transfers. The housekeepers were incredible. They did our laundry and towels every day. The house layout was perfect and we had rooms to spare . Some of the best sunsets are right on the beach at this house . Tamarindo is a short 2-3 minute golf cart ride away. Great location and outstanding service. We will come back
