Welcome to Blue and Gold Getaway!

This charming, historic cottage is in the perfect location for Mountaineer fans! Just a short walk from the WVU football stadium, it's the perfect place to stay for game day. With four bedrooms, two baths, and a large yard, you'll have plenty of space to tailgate before the big game. And with original trim and a sun porch, you'll feel like you're stepping back in time to a bygone era. Don't miss the original built-in cabinet in the dining room and the charming cabinets surrounding the fireplace (which is not in use). Just keep in mind that this is an older home with some quirks. While it's not a completely remodeled house, it's full of character and perfect for anyone looking for a cozy, historic place to stay! Please note the house is situated slightly above the road and has several steps going to the house. We are also 1 mile from WVU Medicine Ruby Memorial Hospital, 1 mile from Suncrest Towne Center and 1.5 miles from downtown Morgantown ( High Street), and 2.5 miles from WVU Coliseum. The perfect location for whatever brings you to Morgantown, business or pleasure!

What a great house to stay in! I did a lot of cooking and baking during our week-long stay, and the kitchen was very well-appointed. There was plenty of space for seven adults, and the bathrobes were a nice touch. The beds were very comfortable. The open floor plan promoted togetherness. Loved the proximity to a wonderful grocery store. Our stay was during the winter, and I appreciated easy access to a snow shovel and salt. I would definitely stay there again!

Perfect location!

We were in town for a softball tournament and the proximity to the field was great! Also, there is a plaza with tons of shops and restaurants that checks all needs off the list, right down the street. This house is really a great location!

Blue and Gold Getaway is a great place to stay for game weekend! Most importantly is that the owners want to take care of you and provide a great experience. They had snacks, coolers, plates, coozies, and other tailgate gear to use. They were very welcoming! There were four big bedrooms that easily accommodated our group of 7. Plenty of televisions so we could watch other games. The only drawback is that the road it's located on doesn't have any sidewalks so it's not really possible to walk any where.

6 of us from our extended family stayed at the Blue and Gold Getaway and had a great week there! Location is fantastic - close to restaurants, hiking, parks, and WVU. Great Spot for Family Visit to WVU

This home was perfect to accommodate our family for our visit to WVU. The house was just as pictured in the listing. Charm of an older home but with modern updates and furnishings. Towels and bedding were like new and we appreciated the amenities too. Hoping this can be our go to spot for future visits.

This was a great house to stay in. It was super clean and decorated so cute. Plenty of space for 6 of us and had everything you could need if you wanted to cook. We love the front porch. Proximity to WVU and downtown was great. Only a few minutes away. The only thing I would warn people about is that the driveway is wicked steep as are the front stairs.

What a great find! It is on a busy street so I would caution walking to your destination but it is a quick ride to the stadium, shopping centers, and both the downtown and Evansdale campuses. Upon entry, you immediately feel at home. It is so charming. The pictures are accurate but do not do the size of the rooms justice. All of the bedrooms are a nice size with plenty of closet space and each room has a full length mirror! That was very appreciated. The kitchen had most of what we needed, even some kcups! I would advise to pack extra trash bags and paper products just in case you run out. The bathrooms also had some extra toiletries in case you forgot something. Another nice touch. The home is decorated very nicely and we loved the built ins. Michelle was a great communicator, and even checked in on us half way through our stay. I wish it was available graduation weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you for your hospitality!

Condition details

The house layout is very nice and convenient for our trip.A few of the light bulbs were out and I couldn't locate replacements for them. The ceiling fans had enough dust on them that I needed to clean them before turning them on to help with the extreme heat and humidity that we were experiencing (89-92 degrees). The outside was overgrown with weeds/ivy (poison?) and the parking areas needed some attention with mail falling out of the mailbox and debris in the street parking. I've always had good experiences in the past with vrbo and feel that this was just an isolated incident on this trip.

Michelle, the host was very communicative! Check in was simple. The house was awesome! Everything was very clean! The kitchen was stocked with plenty of glassware, cookware, and little extras like basic spices and condiments. The bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect with two bedrooms and a shared hall bath on the same floor as the living area and two bedrooms and shared hall bath on the second floor. There was plenty of parking for three cars. The open floor plan between the kitchen, dining area, and living room made being together easy. There is a lovely sunroom for a quiet conversation. We would definitely stay here again!

We purchased this home in 2017 when our oldest daughter was a Freshman at WVU, she lived there for the remaining three years with her friends. Her younger sister, also attending WVU, moved in with her friends and occupied the house until she graduated. We would visit on football game days and parents weekends, lots of memories were made with our children, their friends and families. We have decided to open our doors and share our home with fellow WVU families or anyone visiting Morgantown. We hope you love West Virginia as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

We purchased this home in 2017 when our oldest daughter was a freshman at WVU. She lived in the home with friends and then her younger sister moved in and also spent her days at WVU in this home. After she graduated, we decided to open our doors as a short term rental.
