About Kevin or Janet Clarke

Jan and Kevin are both retired. We love the lake and the great variety of northern Michigan activities. Our children are grown and usually get to visit once during the summer usually for a long weekend.

We want you to have a great stay at the cottage and will help as little or as much as you want. Consider the shore yours.

Kevin or Janet Clarke purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Kevin or Janet Clarke chose Northeast

Our vacation rental was part of a three cottage rental 'resort' prior to 1994. One cottage stayed a rental, one cottage became our summer home and the third cottage became a neighbors garage and moved off the property. We love it here.

What makes this cottage unique

All of our neighbors are great. We get along well, keep our properties up and are respectful of each others privacy. Easy to reach from the expressway and quick to run into town or the corner store for ice cream, pizza or eggs you just ran out of!

Beautiful week and an amazing experience!

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect place to stay and enjoy Mullett, Burt, and Huron Lakes. We brought our boat with us and had no issues with the provided buoy. It is a cool but refreshing walk out to the boat to bring it in. The owner is very knowledgable with he area and thrilled to help answer any questions or provide direction. The cabin was clean and provided everything needed for our stay. There is a DVD player but no movies so if you think a movie on a rainy day would be good bring a few of your favorite with you. Basic cable filled the need for us. The two Kayaks provided hours of entertainment for our kids and the adults. Morning coffee in the swing by the lake is the best way to start the day! Take your sunglasses!! We are already looking forward to our next trip to Michigan.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Way to make great use of the lakes and Inland Waterway. Wish our extra boat hoist had been a little bigger to accommodate your boat. I never thought to put some DVDs in the cottage but have taken care of that. It was fun meeting your family. Glad you enjoyed your stay at Mullett Lake.

Biking and pancake adventure!

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time at Mullett Lake. Biked the entire North Central trail that is literally a few feet away from the cottage. My husband had 28mm tires and I had 32mm for the crushed limestone path. We biked to get pancakes too. Very fun. Kevin and Jan gave great suggestions. They were great owners/neighbors. Loved the dock and swing to read or take a quick dip in the lake. I also learned from Kevin what a Wannigan is!!! Definitely five stars for the price. The bed was comfy. There is a little air conditioner if it gets muggy (we used it for a few hours about two days). The fridge was well stocked with condiments - much better than other rentals. Stocked with toilet paper, towels, soap, etc. so you don't have much shopping to do. The only minor complaint is that the shower is really small. I asked my asked my husband a few times to join me, and then we would have a good laugh because that was not happening. Too much information?

Very comfortable and wonderful hosts!

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived we didn't know Kevin and Jan but by the end of the week, we felt like they were wonderful new friends. They went out of their way to see that we all had a good time and the cabin was very clean with everything we needed. It's in a great location and we would give them another star or two if we could!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. It was fun meeting you and seeing Cody enjoy the water. I still can't believe there is a grass air strip in the woods just a few miles away. Jan and I really enjoyed you showing us the air strip and giving a couple of neophytes a lesson on private planes. The next time you're in Cheboygan please stop and say hi. Kevin & Jan

Great location and hosts!

  • 5 of 5

Kevin and Jan have a wonderful cottage on Mullet Lake. It is a great home base; you can explore many places in northern Michigan and come home to a comfortable bed at night. Also Mullet Lake marina rents very nice pontoons to explore the lake and Inland Waterway. Had a great time.

Owner's Response: You two sure covered a lot of the area while you were here. Vickie I think you researched and had a good game plan for you and Ken when you arrived and adjusted your boat rental days to make the most of the lake and weather. We appreciated having you as guests and thanks for the nice review.

Great little cottage

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was perfect for spending a week at the lake. It was very clean and cozy and the beds very comfortable. Kevin and Jan are excellent hosts, and genuinely warm and friendly people. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. Kevin even made some calls and hooked me up with a fab shop in Cheboygan to make some small repairs to my boat trailer that I had been needing to get done. It was great having the use of his extra boat hoist for the week and not having to wade out to retrieve my boat from a mooring buoy. The view of the lake from the front porch is great. This cottage is a great value and I would highly recommend it.
