About this property

On the Hook! Sunset Cabana by the Caribbean Sea

Beautiful private home on the tropical island of Caye Caulker. We are located in Bahia “On the Hook” of the island on a dead end street one house from the breathtaking Caribbean Sea. If you're looking for peace and tranquility you've found the perfect place.

On the Hook! is located on the bayside of the island near the end of Tarpon St. Our property is fully fenced/gated. There is a beautifully maintained plunge pool with patio seating for guest use. Little to no traffic/people venture down this street leaving guests to ultimate peace, quiet and privacy.

Upon arrival you will be greeted by one of the property owners Anne or Mary. She will be there to open up the rental unit and complete the registration process. Once inside you will find two sets of keys which include front gate keys and cabana keys for your use during your stay.

Guests will have full access to the downstairs cabana (approximately 1000 square feet) 2 bedrooms with a full bath, kitchen, living room and the plunge pool.

Both bedrooms offer queen beds with brand new air conditioners. Both bedrooms have blackout curtains for optimal sleeping conditions. The brand new couch in the living room is convertible to a queen sized bed and there is an inflatable queen sized mattress available upon request. *** Please note: the space comfortably fits 4. For additional occupants there is a $20 per person per night fee along with an additional $30 laundry fee.***

We love being nestled in a quiet part of the island. We have 4 Bicycles (adult sized) provided with your rental to ride into the heart of town which is a scenic 5-10 minute bike ride. If you prefer to walk it is about 15-20 minutes to the heart of the village. If you prefer, golf carts these are available for rent in town from several different companies. We can help you set up rentals of golf carts. *** please note... we cannot control "Mother Nature" and depending upon the season (dry season vs. rainy) the island roads can have more water than normal.

The property boasts flowers, various plants including aloe vera, numerous palm trees, and a plantain tree while you relax poolside in your own private gated oasis.

You may use the property as you wish. This includes the pool, the front patio, and the BBQ area to cook up your fresh caught fish.

The home and property is incredibly clean and has been meticulously designed for ultimate comfort and ease.

The host requires you complete the following before checking out:
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks, and take out the trash
Turn off the lights and return the keys
Put any glass bottles in basket outside on the patio under kitchen window for recycling.
Hang both sets of keys on the hooks by front door.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Please note there is a $20 per person per night fee for additional adult guest (above 4) along with a $30 fee for the additional laundry.

Wonderful stay! Mary was helpful and friendly without being intrusive. A tricky line to maintain when she lives upstairs!The pool was gorgeous and wonderful. The recommendations for dining and excursions were excellent. Location was peaceful and quiet, very nice to get away from the party scene downtown. Would stay here again, 100%!

Stay at On the Hook! It is a beautiful location hosted by two friendly informed, helpful individuals who made our stay very comfortable. The cabana is well equipped with kitchen amenities and linens. Parking for a rental golf cart, a bike to ride and a great cooling plunge pool are out the front door. There are a few local eateries nearby plus a guest guidebook of the village sights.

Anne was an incredible host! She set up a taxi golf cart for us at the airport to get us to the place, met us to give us the tour and lay of the land, and told us the tips/tricks to prevent bug bites! The place was cute, clean, and had so many lovely little touches (like the towels being folded into animals) that made the place welcoming and special. Would 100% stay here again, everything was wonderful!

Spring Break Escape

This property was AWESOME! Anne was the most helpful and answered all our questions. Her recommendations for fishing, snorkeling, dining were all spot on and our family had an outstanding vacation. The outside pool certainly hit the spot after long days in the sunshine. We toured the island on the provided beach cruisers which were in great working condition... We cannot wait to return to On The Hook Cabanas...

Very relaxing spot, beautiful home and yard with a nice pool. It's away from the popular places so you will only see local people around, and they are very friendly. The included bicycles would have been nice but we had to rent a golf cart because of our 3 young kids. It's a 10 minutes ride to go almost anywhere on the island. Anne was a very helpful host, she even called a golf cart rental for us while we were unpacking our things. No doubt we would stay there again!

Perfect stay! Anna had set up a golf cart for us waiting at the airport. The house was a little out of the downtown area so the golf cart worked out great. She met us at the house when we got there and went over the details of the house and gave us plenty of recommendations of things to do and places to go. The house was very clean and we had everything we needed. The noseeums were bad so if you are going to sit by the pool at night make sure you have baby oil. The air conditioning kept us cool at night and there were plenty of fans throughout the house. The area felt extremely safe and the people in the area were very friendly. There are grocery stores every 500 feet on the island and there are very few streets without a bar or restaurant so even being a little out of town you still had amenities. For breakfast Ice and Beans was the best. For lunch and dinner find the places that have grills outside the restaurants for a taste on the chicken and seafood you can't get anywhere else. Most places take credit cards. Everywhere we went took American currency. If it shows rain in your forecast most storms only last for short periods. It was nice staying in a quiet area off a side street but still 5 minutes away from about 30-40 bars in a more crowded hectic area.

We are from originally from the Boise, Idaho area. Several years ago we took our first trip to Caye Caulker and immediately fell in love with the island, the people and the "Go Slow" motto. We love snorkeling, diving, fishing, biking, yoga, and eating! This island has so many great places to eat. We love being hosts, meeting people from all over the globe and sharing our little slice of heaven with others. It brings us great joy.

Why they chose this property

We chose this neighborhood because of its quiet street and minimal traffic. We love that there is grocery store just a block away and view of the Caribbean Sea from the pool deck.

What makes this property unique

Our property is different from others because of its well maintained landscape, fenced private yard, beautifully maintained plunge pool (we have the best pool man on the island- Mr. Jeffery Chun) and bicycles available for use. You are a few minutes away from the noise and busy of the village while being able to easily access it if you wish.
