About Annie Taylor

My husband Malcolm and I bought 'Tosca' in 2003 naming it after the house owned by my favourite Uncle Peter in Gerrards Cross, Bucks.

We had wonderful times there until sadly Malcolm died in 2012. Since then I have continued to visit twice a year with friends and family. The photo above was taken on the anniversary of Malcolm's Birthday, November 8th, because we were always at 'Tosca' to celebrate it with lovely Tobago friends.

Annie Taylor purchased this villa in 2003

Why Annie Taylor chose Black Rock

we fell in love with the amazing views across to the Buccoo Reef, Pigeon Point, and the Nylon pool, even to Trinidad in the far distance, and the best sunsets in the world.

What makes this villa unique

Set on a high, west-facing ridge on the Sanctuary resort, yet not too far from airport, ferry terminal, supermarkets, restaurants and village shops.

Semi-detached yet extremely spacious with large secluded private terrace with splash pool, and a very pretty blue roof!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Tosca was everything it promised to be. From the get go we were relaxed. The villa is beautifully maintained and is a home away from home. It is obvious that the owners have taken great care to ensure our stay was exceedingly comfortable even down to portable deck chairs to take with us to the beach!. It is wondefully positioned for exploring the rest of the island and some of the best beaches are within walking distance (down the hill and across the road!). The car was also a treat. The housekeeper and pool attendant were exceedingly helpful with little hints on how best to prepare all the fresh fish we bought and caught (night shark fishing trip). If you've packed your suitcase, take half the stuff out as Malcolm and Annie have already thought of it! We'll certainly be going to Tosca again.

A Tranquil Bird Filled Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We have travelled the carribean for many years and Tobago is one of our favourites.

When we arrived at Annie’s and opened the door we knew we had picked a gem.

The villa is just amazing. The view, interior, outside deck and pool, etc. A perfect carribean getaway with all the comforts of home.

And the birds !!!!!!!

They were just amazing. We spent time feeding and just watching them .The Mot Mot was our favourite as well as numerous humming birds and bananaquits.Too many to mention.

Loved everything about this villa it was just so peaceful and magical.

Dealing with Annie was also a very pleasant experience, she is a lovely person.

Thank you again Annie for sharing your home with us,we truly are greatful and hope to return.

Kind Regards

Karen & Ian

Perfectly suituated for paradise

  • 5 of 5

We have returned to the UK following an amazing holiday at Tosca.

Tosca is perfectly located as spitting distance to a number of beautiful beaches. There are some lovely places to eat, again, just spitting distance from this villa. We explored the island which simply reinforced the fact that our location was key to all the activities and experiences we enjoyed. Everything you need is right at your fingertips!

The villa itself is a lovely home and really made us feel like it was our home (regrettable only for 10 days!) Tosca felt warm and homely and safe. As we were two girls travelling together this was quite important for us.

Tosca is light and bright and when you open the doors to the terrace area in the morning, you are greeted with sunshine and the beautiful sound of the delightful birds happily chirping away. Whilst having breakfast on the terrace, if you chose, you can feed the birds too and they will politely nibble the fruit and cheese in exchange for a glance at their vibrant colours. We have never particularly been avid "twitchers" but these birds are spectacular, harmless and strangely polite. If however you are a keen "bird twitcher" there is an amazing bird sanctuary just minuets from Tosca.

Although eager to explore the island we found ourselves leisurely waking up, having breakfast on the terrace and just soaking up the sunshine, stunning views of tropical tress, plants, birds and looking at the sea peeps. This is a wonderful start to any day.

The property was very clean with everything provided from beach towels to snorkelling equipment to even sun block and salt & pepper!

We were there for 10 days and found the housekeeping team really friendly and not at all intrusive. We were also introduced to the pool cleaner and the property manager. There is a great support system in place and the property is very well managed. If you need anything there are numbers to call inside this villa with thoroughly detailed guides, tips, taxi firms, local amenities, restaurant details etc.

This really is a special place and we would 100% recommend Tosca to anyone. We are already planning another visit. Our only complaint would be that we had to leave!

We hope you enjoy Tosca as much as we did.

Tam & Zoe xx

The unspoiled beauty of Tobago

  • 5 of 5

This was my first trip to Tobago and Tosca Villa was the perfect place to stay with my daughter and her partner. All the comforts of home away from home.

Tosca Villa is a very private duplex home in a gated development at Sanctuary Villas. This villa is spacious with plenty of room for everyone. Each of the 3 bedrooms had its own private bathroom, air-conditioning and the upstairs bedroom had awesome views of the famous Buccoo reef and the Caribbean Sea,

In the large back terrace we also enjoyed the spectacular view of Buccoo Reef, the Caribbean Sea and many spectacular birds from the sanctuary. Each morning you wake up to the singing of these tropical birds and over breakfast you can enjoy watching them flutter about in the greenery. In the evening we would relax and watch the fire flies dancing in the greenery. On a couple of nights we were even able to hear the waves breaking on the reef.|

Four beaches are within five minutes drive from our villa, these include Stonehaven, Back Bay, Mt Irvine and Grange. A Mini market, ATM, restaurants and fast food outlets are nearby. Pizza Boy and The Fish Pot restaurant is a walk down the hill. The Fish Pot was a wonderful place to have an occasional dinner. The food is made to perfection. We enjoyed the crayfish and the grouper which were mouth watering good.

The use of the owner's car gave us the opportunity to explore many coves, bays, beaches and waterfalls hidden in the rain-forest. The drives through the rain forest was truly breath taking. You can stop and cool down at the most stunning and remote beaches.

Annie, the owner is an amazing and thoughtful person who made our stay very special. Can't wait to come back.

A Birdwatchers' Paradise

  • 5 of 5

The location of this Villa in the Sanctuary is stunning; it has panoramic views from the terrace of greenery and the azure waters of Buccoo Reef. The villa is well equipped with tropical style furnishings and fittings. It is very peaceful, private and safe with barrier entry into the estate. The support staff, Richard, Martin and Marilyn in the Sanctuary is extremely helpful and pleasant as is the housekeeper, Carol. Use of the owner's car is a real bonus. There are beaches close by; we went to Mount Irvine Bay Beach most afternoons and swam as the sun was setting. The best restaurant we found was Kariwak Village near the airport - delightful. The Villa is a birdwatchers' paradise. Birds flock to the terrace and include several species of hummingbird, Mot Mot, Tanagers and Tropical Mockingbird. We visited Adventure farm where the owner feeds hummingbirds and were treated to a dazzliing display of iridescent movement- quite breathtaking. If you enjoy peace and quiet and wildlife, this is the villa for you.

Sun's and birds' paradise

  • 5 of 5

We had the chance to spend a wonderful 10 days in a house that provided a lot of pleasure for us. Beginning with the sunny days and ending by of at least ten different kinds of birds that visited us regularly in the mornings waiting for their servings of food. Vistas at Caribbean sea with its Bucco coral reefs only some 15 minutes drive to one of Tobago nicest beaches – Pigeon Point were magnificent. The house is well equipped in a nice surrounding and I cannot do anything only to recommend the stay in the villa.

'Tosca' in Tobago is set high on a ridge overlooking Buccoo Reef and the Caribbean sea. Located next to the Grafton bird sanctuary this traditionally designed semi-detached villa affords luxury accommodation within the secure Sanctuary Villa estate, close to Mt Irvine Bay and up the hill from the village of Pleasant Prospect, which boasts not only a couple of local restaurants, a pizzeria, two bars, and a shop, but an all important (but rare) cash point.

The nearest beaches are only five minutes walk away. Tosca’s spacious living accommodation - 3 double bedrooms, all with sea views and en suite - can comfortably sleep 6, which makes it ideal for two families, or a group of friends sharing.

Our housekeeper, Carol, can arrange cooking or babysitting services for you. Charges can be agreed directly with her.

Golf: There are two golf courses on Tobago, and one of them, Mount Irvine, is less than a five minute drive away.
