Welcome to Genevieve, our charming 100-year-old craftsman home in the heart of historic Southside! This vibrant, eclectic house has a rich history, having served as an artist commune, fraternity house, and even a punk rock concert hall. With a walk score of 78, you’re minutes from everywhere you want to be!

Inside, you'll find three spacious bedrooms, all outfitted with deluxe mattresses and high quality, long-staple premium cotton sheets. The master bedroom features a king bed and a twin for the kiddos. The other two bedrooms have one bed each, a King in one and Queen in the other. A twin daybed in the dining room adds extra sleeping space and comfort. Oversized windows fill the home with natural light, and blinds and curtains ensure a peaceful sleep for night owls and day sleepers alike.

Genevieve boasts historic charm with original doorknobs, hardwood floors, coffered ceilings, and ornate craftsmanship throughout. Relax on the large, designer couches in the cozy living room, or catch up on your favorite shows on one of the flat screen TV's we have in every room. You can rest easy with white noise machines and ceiling fans in every bedroom.

The fully stocked kitchen has everything you need: a blender, coffee maker, oil, salt, vinegar, utensils, containers for leftovers, and complimentary snacks. The large dining room table seats up to eight, with a booster seat, pack-and-play, baby bath seat, and children's dinnerware available for your little ones.
Step outside to enjoy the large front porch, or head to the private, fenced-in backyard with outdoor dining, a grill, and a firepit. Play a game of cornhole, enjoy board games, or unwind with a book from our collection. The yoga mats, tension bands, Pilates bar and kettlebells in the sunroom are perfect for starting the day right, and the designated workspace with alarm clock and USB ports makes it easy to stay connected.

Conveniently located less than a mile from UAB, Dreamland BBQ, and the Alys Stephens Center, Genevieve is surrounded by a neighborhood grocery store and park just a block away. With tall privacy fences, electronic door locks, exterior security cameras, and stringent cleaning precautions to prevent Covid, your safety and comfort are our top priorities.

Free parking is available on the street in front of and next to the house. We’ve thought of everything to make your stay unforgettable—you may never want to leave!

We were literally 3 blocks from UAB campus. Walked to Dreamland one night for dinner. Ate at the Indian food truck right behind the property another night. 5 minutes from UAB hospital. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful Home

We stayed at Genevieve over the Thanksgiving holiday. We loved the house. The bedrooms were a very nice size and the beds were very comfortable.It was really nice to have the BBQ restaurant within walking distance, along with an ice cream parlor.We will definitely book Genevieve next time we are in Birmingham.

We loved our time in the house. It was very quiet and we felt very safe. Enjoyed walking over to Milky Way Ice Cream Bar- definitely try the brownies. Next time we'll go to Dreamland BBQ. Any questions/concerns we had were answered in a timely manner

The house is in a great safe & quiet location. Dreamland bbq is within walking distance and is delicious. The house had plenty of room for our large family of 8. The beds were comfortable. The living room was very beautiful. We were in town to visit my mother-in-law (she lives 40 mins away) but we also wanted to do some things in Birmingham. Staying at this house meant we were just minutes away from The Birmingham Zoo & Vulcan Park. Both were a great experience. I would recommend the main floors get a deep clean, but otherwise the house has everything you would need (including a washer & dryer!) We will definitely be staying here in the future! Thanks!

Disappointing Stay

Our stay at this VRBO was disappointing! We requested an early check-in and once we received the okay that the property was cleaned and ready, we proceeded to the property. Once inside the property, we immediately noticed that none of the trash had been removed. We also saw that none of bed linen was changed. In all, the interior of the property was not cleaned/serviced. We immediately contacted the property manager (and sent photos) and informed him of the findings. Also, we had and issue with television reception. We contacted the property manager again and eventually resolved the issue. Unfortunately, since it was such a late hour in the evening, we ended up washing the linen, collected the trash, and accomplished a basic cleaning of the interior ourselves. In addition, I informed the property manager of a potential fire hazard with the exterior dryer vent being excessively clogged (with lint), and a possible bad wax seal at the main bathroom toilet, which appeared to be leaking. In conclusion, If we had a choice, we would probably stay somewhere else based on this experience!

As a Birmingham native, I love this city and want others to feel like I do when they arrive...like they're at home! In order to do that, I spend a lot of time thinking about the guests and making sure their stay is completely unforgettable. I know you will love your stay, not because I say so, but because I have hundreds of 5 star reviews to prove it.

Why they chose this property

This is one of the oldest and most historic neighborhoods in the city. The home itself is celebrating 100 years of life, and is conveniently located less than one mile for UAB, the Alys Stephens Center and historic Five Points South. This home has a walk score of 78, meaning you could literally park your car when you arrive and walk to whatever you may need. The local neighborhood market is just down the street, located across from the famous Dreamland BBQ and a cute park to take your kids!

What makes this property unique

This home has a ton of personality and character. So much so that a previous owner named it "Genevieve" decades ago, and it has been known as that ever since. You can feel the history when you turn one of the original doorknobs, and see it when you look at the coffered ceilings, oversized windows and ornate craftsmanship throughout.

Most importantly, Genevieve's 100th birthday this year! Can you just imagine all the people who have walked through the door? Well, if you imagined flappers, frat boys, artists, punk rockers, etc. you'd only know part of her rich history. Genevieve really is a sight to see, and even though she may be a century old she still has all the modern upgrades and amenities you expect from a 5 star listing.
