About this property

3 bed house with AC by beach & golf course; short walk to local shops & cafes

Brisa del Mar is a 3-storey townhouse located on Hole 14 (Hoyo 14) of Nuevo Portil golf course. It has 1 double bedroom with en suite bathroom, 2 twin bedrooms, separate shower room and ground floor cloakroom. The two terraces and secure garden are south-facing and not overlooked.

TOURISTIC LICENSING: This house is fully licensed, insured and compliant with the Spanish tax authority and police legislation for tourist rentals. This also ensures that contents and essential safety features are professionally checked and maintained for our guests.

INTERNET: To keep our prices competitive we don’t provide Internet or Wi-fi and find that most guests are happy with their data roaming on a mobile phone or use the local cafes and bars for larger downloads. That said, we do have a good wireless router in the lounge that takes pre-paid or pay-as-you go SIM cards. These are the mini sized ones (NOT standard or micro) such for 'Lebara', which can be purchased and activated at large stores like Carrefour and Media Markt. The approximate cost as of Aug 19 for 20GB is about 15 Euros and more data can be added from your mobile phone.

The kitchen has granite worktops, crockery and cutlery for 12 settings plus all the utensils you would expect to use. There is a covered (dry) utility with washing machine, iron and board etc.

The lounge has 2 leather sofas (3+2 seaters), footstool and a wicker arm chair, 42” TV (no English TV - sorry), a music docking station, books, games and wood burning stove. The dining area has seating for six.

Each bedroom has ample storage with coat hangers, a hairdryer, mirror, chair, 2 towels per guest and quality white poly-cotton bed linen.

The patio garden is south facing, mainly tiled with some feature plants. There is a table with six chairs plus a roll-out sun canopy.

There are 2 private terraces off of two of the bedrooms, each with two sun loungers, cushions and a table. The master bedroom has a roll-out sun canopy and there is a parasol on the top floor balcony.

Also included at the property are 4 beach loungers, 2 bicycles and secure, allocated underground parking. For a small handling fee per stay we have a travel cot, high chair, pushchair, golf clubs and golf trolleys. Please ask for more details. There are two stair gates (no fee) in the property that can be placed in various locations if needed.

There is a large communal swimming pool and toddler pool with lifeguard usually open from June to mid-September. (The community management does change the opening dates occasionally so please check in advance if the pool is vital for your stay.) Please note that there are strict daily opening times and it's closed for the siesta hours. There are three padel tennis courts on site (free to use) and we have four padel bats at the house but please bring your own tennis balls.

The fabulous beach, bars (for free wifi) and restaurants are a 10 to 15 minute easy walk. Other local activities include bird watching, water sports, horse riding, karting and a seasonal water park.

General Golf Information: Compared to the Western Algarve and the Costa del Sol, golfing opportunities on the Costa de la Luz are as yet relatively undiscovered. Green fees are considerably lower (from €25 a round at our local course after 2pm) and the courses less crowded, making it much easier to get a start time that you want and play a round in reasonable time. Most Golf courses in the area have practice facilities where you are able to hire balls to loosen up. You can play in both Spain and Portugal and all are very easy to get to and give a wide range of different course to satisfy all tastes. Please be aware that most Spanish and Portuguese courses require soft spikes. Buggies and trolleys are usually available for hire.

Local courses: Nuevo Portil: This course winds through the houses and pine trees in Nuevo Portil. It offers a pleasant walk that isn't too tiring and is a good test of golf for all levels of player. The 11th hole is worth a mention it is a par 5 with a small lake in the front right.

El Rompido (North & South): Less than 10 mins drive away finds these 2 spectacular championship courses set amongst pines, olive trees & marshland. Both courses are a very good test of golf especially if the sea breeze picks up. Look out for the marsh crabs underneath the bridge crossing the marsh on the South course. The south course has hosted a number of professional events and has also been used for the final of the Daily Mail foursomes.

Bellavista (Duhesa golf):
The is the oldest members club in Spain (founded 1916) Bellavista is a true members club in the British style. More undulating than many in the coastal area and a challenge for most golfers, the course belies its par of just 70.

Islantilla:
This 27 hole course staged the 1996 Turespana Open and provides 3 challenging loops of 9 holes. The course varies from tight tree lined fairways with small, fast greens, to open views of the Huelva coastline with challenging shots over water to target greens. The course meanders through the pine trees and will lead you to believe you are the only golfers there. Some of the holes are lined with accommodation and with a large slice your ball could visit a swimming pool, mine did. The course is easy to find and is about 20 minutes drive away from Brisa del Mar.

Isla Canela: Although relatively new, the course has been integrated with surrounding coastal features; winding through an area of tidal salt marsh. It is largely flat, so will provide a leisurely walk for those who prefer not to slog up hill and down dale, yet also provides an enjoyable golfing challenge. The course is easy to find and is about 30 minutes drive away from Brisa del Mar.

Ideal for an Autumn Break

We found this an ideal place for an autumn break. We spent a lot of time walking along the lovely sandy beaches and just relaxing in the sun - The provision of beach chairs, parasol, picnic and cool bags added to our comfort. The town house is equipped with everything we needed , with a choice of balconies to sit on in the sun! The area is a favourite of Spanish tourists and we didn't hear any English spoken while we were there. We had a great day in Seville, about an hour and a quarter by car. A visit to the Royal Alcazar is a must - make sure you book your tickets before you go, we would have been queuing for hours if we hadn't! (even in October). We also drove over the border into Portugal and visited one of our favourite beaches at Manta Rota. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home

Great Family Break

Brisa del Mar was well equiped, comfortable and clean and provided the four of us with a good base to explore the surrounding area, also was ideal for our sons wedding venue which was close by, We all really enjoyed the pool. The beach was a little far away for walking in the heat, but we went on to Islantilla for a day on the beach which was really nice. Definitely need a car for the area and for getting from and to the airport. Jacky and Chris were great as hosts and clearly take pride in Brisa Del Mar, Thank you for all the information and help with our stay, we hope to be back again sometime. Julie and family

Wonderful house. Recommended.

We (family of 6 with 4 boys aged 15/13/11/8) had a brilliant week staying at Brisa Del Mar. Beautiful, clean house with everything you could need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Fully equipped kitchen, lots of beach kit for use and though we actually never used them the ability to use 2 bicycles is a great bonus. The pool was a good size and had plenty of space around. A few cafes/bars are a short 5-10min walk away, including a lovely fish restaurant we went to twice during our stay (Zamba Gambas). The beach is a couple of minutes past these. A bit further away (another 10-15 mins walk) there are further bars and restaurants and the all important (for my boys anyway!) heladarias. Overall a lovely house in a lovely area with many Spanish holidaymakers. Recommended.

Wonderful!

We really enjoyed our stay at Jacky & Chris's house. The house is very well equipped with lots of little extras. Very clean and comfortable. Jacky & Chris provide lots and lots of information in their Information folder which we really appreciated...we wouldn't have found half the little local gems without it! There is a beautiful sandy beach very close by and plenty of towns/villages within easy reach. We would certainly recommend this property to friends and family. Thank you Jacky & Chris for all you helpful advice and for replying promptly to any queries we had.

FABULOUS HOUSE IN GREAT LOCATION

We loved our stay here. We found the house easily by following Jacky & Chris's excellent directions. The house was immaculately clean and extremely well equipped, short of nothing. Loved the private balcolnies which were great suntraps and enjoyed the pretty garden. The private garage was an added bonus. The welcome pack was 'most welcome' and Jacky and Chris provided a great service and made the booking process very easy. The local bars and restaurants were a short walk away and the locals were very friendly and the food and drinks were good value for money. The beach was fantastic and also only a short walk away. We visited a little town in Portugal whilst there by driving to Ayamonte (which was another lovely spanish place worth a visit) and getting the ferry which took about 10 minutes and cost less than 2 euros per person each way (you can take a small car if you want, for less than 6 euros each way). The town of El Rocio is also well worth a visit..its like a cowboy town..google it and decide if you think its worth going as its only about an hour or so away, we thought it was fab. All in all a wonderful holiday and a great house to stay in. We have tried our best to think of something to criticise but failed miserably..its perfect and we will definitely return. Thank you Jacky & Chris.

Best equipped house we’ve ever stayed in!

This was one of the best equipped houses we’ve ever stayed in - lots of the little touches that just made everything that little bit easier - kitchen roll, hairdryers, beach chairs, corkscrews etc etc - all things we have had to buy at one time or another. The house is spotlessly clean, well located for the beach (10 mins walk) and there are lots of bars and restaurants nearby for tapas or bigger meals. We also enjoyed the pool and it was never too busy to have a swim. A beautiful stretch of coastline and even the option to pop over to Portugal for lunch which we did. Communication with the owners was excellent as were the driving directions - thank you. Our only downside - the mini-tren...if you have kids they’ll probably love it!!

Family holiday

We have been to the area before as we have relatives that stay in the area. We always enjoy the area as it is a bit quieter than the normal spanish beach type resorts. Found the town house easily, facilities were very good and not too far to walk down to the beach. Will certainly be coming back.

PERFECTO!!!

Ruth

Extremely well equipped property

We stayed in the property in early June and had a super holiday. The weather was excellent and the area was very quiet. The property was very clean, well maintained. It was extremely well equipped with almost anything that you would want for a holiday in the area, from the two bikes to the beach chairs both of which we used throughout our time there. The complex pool was supervised and open at this time and was a really nice facility? The owners could not have been more helpful with their communication and contact. The description of the property was very accurate and the photographs of the property truly reflected what we found there. It is a property which we will hopefully use again if we revisit the area.

A home from home for everyone

We returned to the property after a gap of three years. fortunately standards had not slipped and we found a beautifully clean villa with every need catered for. Did we miss wifi, our son and daughter maybe, same with sky but did it spoil the holiday, no way.We had a wonderful stay and will certainly return soon.

A very well-equipped, comfortable home from home

A very relaxing environment with all guest needs anticipated and catered for. It is the thoughtful little touches like plenty of pillows, optional duvet ratings and the like which make a big difference between acceptable and extra comfortable holiday accommodation. The reasonably priced golf club and trolley hire was a welcome bonus, and we enjoyed several rounds of golf on the well maintained and landscaped course which surrounds the housing development. The owners have provided a useful information booklet along with supporting material such as maps, guides and phrase books which cannot be faulted for detail and usefulness. We sampled tapas and delicious fish and chicken dishes at but a few of the plethora of bars and restaurants within a short walk of the holiday home. Jacky and Alan provide helpful recommendations in their boklet for everything from shopping to eating out to daytrips to golf courses. We will definitely visit again, a very good value holiday which we thoroughly recommend to others.

Great house in a great location

Dad loved – being able to walk to golf and the sea fishing so no hassle over who gets the car; price of golf at only €25 so I played three times; golf clubs available from the owners so no extra luggage to pay for at the airport Mum loved – a real kitchen with ‘proper’ equipment; a private balcony so I could sunbathe without people looking at my wobbly bits; space to read in peace away from the kids; good selection of books there when I ran out Kate (aged 17) loved – my own balcony and space away from the parents (!); decent hairdryer and mirror etc; being able to walk to the beach without having to get someone to drive me there; karting Chloe (aged 12) loved – the ice cream shop; playing padel tennis (and I beat Kate once); the swimming pool; the waterpark Ticks all the boxes. We will be back. Thank you Alan and Jacky.

Even better than we remembered from 2008

We don’t usually return to the same place on holiday (as there are so many new places to try out) but sometimes DIY holidays can be hard to organise and a bit of a gamble especially if travelling with small children. This year we were taking our young grandchildren on holiday for the first time and wanted somewhere we could trust to deliver as promised on the website and would be easy to organise so we decided to return to Brisa del Mar. It didn’t disappoint! When we stayed in 2008, the house had just been finished and everything was brand new so we expected to see some evidence of wear and tear this time. However, Alan and Jacky have obviously been busy each year and the house is still beautifully maintained from the décor to the soft furnishings and linen. We haven’t travelled abroad with toddlers before so having a high chair, travel cot (with optional mosquito net) plus stair gates already there were a Godsend. The kitchen really does have everything you would expect at home including things like a hand blender – ideal for the baby’s food – and enabled us to cater for the more particular food preferences that British kids seem to have these days! The kids soon found the box of outdoor beach toys in the cupboard which saved us a fortune as we expected to have to buy these things locally. We also discovered a bargain mega store which had everything you might need or have forgotten and bought a paddling pool for the garden for just €5 – great when we couldn’t be bothered to leave the comfort of the house to go to the communal pool just a few yards away. We put the beach parasol and beach chairs provided to good use too. The set up that Alan and Jacky have in place is well thought through and should cover all realistic needs of a family on holiday. Their reservation process, payment system and key management is professional but still with the personal touch. We are really glad that we returned to this holiday home and, dare we say it, we may even return for a third time!

Fantastic Holiday

We had a fantastic holiday at Brisa del Mar. The directions to the property were spot on which made for a stress free journey and the townhouse was exactly as described. It had all the facilities that you would expect to find at home with a very well equipped kitchen which made cooking easy. The surrounding area is beautiful with miles of uncrowded and unspoilt beaches. The closest is about a 10-15 min walk from Brisa del Mar, but our favourite was the one opposite the hotel where you could catch a ferry to the La Flecha (well worth the trip). We had two 18 year olds with us and were worried that they might be bored, but they had a great time and as the area is so safe we had no worries about them staying out until the small hours. You will need to use your phrase book as this is a mainly Spanish area ( a real bonus for us - not a Full English Breakfast sign in sight), but everyone is really patient and friendly. We found that sign language and big smiles went a long way! I definitely recommend and hope to be going back again next year

a fabulous return to El Portil

We have vacationed on this complex for 3 years running but this year was the first time we had used the Chadwicks accomodation. We will certainly be considering returning next year and would have no hesitation in recommending their home to anyone else thinking of discovering this wonderful part of Spain. It is by far the best villa we have stayed on on the complex.Their home is exactly that, a home from home, with every conceviable convenience available. It is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean and benefits from having hosts that cannot seem to do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We love the area, very unspoilt by british tourism, you need your phrase book as there are no English Pubs and Restaurants here, thank goodness. It is a perfect venue for families and couples alike but you do need a car. Deborah

A lovely home from home in 'real' Spain

We had a wonderful time. The house really is a home from home - Alan and Jacky have thought of everything! We always travel independently and have stayed in many private houses across Europe and the States & have rarely experienced the amount of thought which has gone into Hoyo 14, Brisa del Mar. The beds are really comfortable and there's lots of cupboard space. Good powerful showers with as much hot water as we needed! Kitchen is very well equipped too if you want to eat in. The extended welcome pack to include DW tablets, cloths etc is really good. Needless to say in August, we had fantastic weather - up in the mid 30s every day. We soon slipped into the Spanish way of life with a little siesta in the afternoons as the pool closes between 3 & 5pm. The local beaches are gorgeous and we couldn't believe the amount of Spanish people coming off the beach in the dusky darkness at 10pm! A small local supermarket supplied our day to day needs with Carrefour available for a big shop! A couple of bars & restaurants nearby mean that you don't have to drive. All provided excellent food and wine at very reasonable prices. El Rompido, Ayamonte and Punta Umbria are all worth visiting.

Golfing Holiday

For us this was just right in every way, our first visit to Brisa del Mar, our 5th holiday in the area. A very generous house in every way, had everything we needed. A lovely beach and restaurant 15min walk, golf course 10 min walk, three courses in area within 10min drive. The house is in a super position with sun all day, and three nice areas to sit in, sun and shade. The beach chairs and brolleys were very nice to have.El Rompido Village is very good at week ends delicious food, lots of local people enjoying themselves. The house made the holiday wonderful for us, Alan & Jackie have thought of everything, very tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. We thank them very much for the use of their home, and already have booked it again for 2010 Dorothy & David South Wirral

The best self catering house we have rented :-)

We have stayed at a number of villas and apartments so know what to expect and this is as good as it gets. We have been to this house twice now; once in October 2008 and again in August. It’s a very Spanish area and though we sometimes needed a phrase book, our Spanish has improved. In the summer the place is alive and buzzing and brilliant for the kids with the beach, pools, Water Park and carting etc. In the autumn it was great for relaxing; we had miles of beaches to ourselves and the sea was still very warm. We could not believe the weather (80 degrees) and, as golfers, the superb value compared with other parts of Spain and Portugal – we paid just 25€ at Nuevo Portil as we played after 2pm. The welcome pack on arrival and the detailed guest information book (we called it the ‘Oracle’) were perfect to help us settle in and find out about the area. The house was clean and immaculately presented. The kitchen was fully equipped as any family home would be – far more than most holiday homes. To me it was the little things that made the difference such as not having to hire golf clubs or take beach towels etc – meant we brought one less suitcase and a smaller hire car (saving money all round). Loved the IPod & MP3 docking stations, DVDs and the range of books to read and swap. We found it a big advantage having the garden backing onto the road as it was so convenient for our luggage, food and the kid’s things – some of the other houses have quite a walk to car parking spaces. The other big advantage was that the garden faces south (unlike the north and west facing pool view houses on the estate that we also considered) – south facing is a big advantage in October as we had lots of sunshine in the garden and balconies. We had views of the sea from the balconies although a tree across the road seems to have grown over the year and blocked most of the sea view from the first floor balcony. They were both very private for sunbathing! In our summer trip the kids initially moaned about the pool being closed between 3pm & 5pm but after a couple of days they settled in and we used that time for our picnics in the shade at the hottest part of the day. We appreciated the lifeguard as we could relax more. We also took day trips to Seville and Portugal as they were in easy reach. In conclusion it was a brilliant house in a brilliant area and we can sincerely recommend Brisa del Mar for all types of holidays. We will be back. John & family

when you take care of very detail to make your guest feel like home

Clean, tidy, and really fully equiped for families or individuals. AA in all rooms; clean bed sheets, blankets or towels Very nice place with a big swimming pool in a familiar estate and 5 mins walking to a very good beach of fine sand as well as local leisure. It's quite clear the landlady focused the property to please and facilitate her guests the most.

Jacky and Chris Nelson are currently living in Oman but have strong links with the South West of the UK and Coventry. When we are not working, we are usually enjoying the out-doors camping, playing golf, sailing and on the beach.

As we are currently posted overseas, please note that there may be a delay in replies to enquiries due to the time differences (we are four hours ahead of UK GMT).

Why they chose this property

We had been looking for a holiday home across Europe but most places were too small or too far from the beach, golf and restaurants. We also wanted to avoid the overcrowded 'lego land' developments that can be found on some of the more well known Costas.

A chance find on the internet led us to this unspoilt and traditionally Spanish area which ticked all the boxes plus some.

It's rare now to find an affordable house with good size bedrooms and garden space that is genuinely walking distance from the beach and golf - but we have managed it and we love it.

We always planned to rent the house when we weren't able to be there and felt that this would be a fantastic place for all sorts of families and groups of friends to enjoy.

What makes this property unique

The drive to the property is alongside the sea and the views are stunning; we were nearly sold on that alone.

When we realised we could see the see from the terraces, had year round sunshine in the south facing garden plus a pergola for my bourgainvilla - we had to have it.

Most of the bars and restaurants are Spanish giving a real experience of local food and tradition. No English breakfasts or fish and chip shops here.

So, if like us, you want a fantastic beach, bars, restaurants and golf all within easy walking distance and still experience the unique friendly culture of the Spanish, this is the area for you.
