Overview

About the property

Log cabin right on the San Marcos River

Located on the pristine San Marcos River, our cabin is a relaxing retreat on the river. Enjoy the quiet half acre lot with views of the beautiful spring-fed river.

Currently, I can only rent the cabin for 30 days or more.

The cabin can sleep 7 and has two bedrooms, perfect for families. The first bedroom has a beautiful queen size bed with a lighted headboard. The other bedroom has a double bed with a twin size trundle that we like to call the 'kids room' because it is stocked with toys and books, perfect for ages 3-8 years old. There is one bathroom.

The cabin has an open kitchen/living room floor plan(with a queen-sized sofabed) and a pool table. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a washer/dryer.

We have free wi-fi and a stereo system but no television.

Enjoy pitching horse shoes while cooking on the smoker/grill.

Whether relaxing on the deck or picnicking riverside, the cabin is all about the river.

About Ann Mary Carney

We are a family of four that have been enjoying this cabin as a retreat for 10 years. My family is originally from San Marcos. The Rio Vista park across the river was originally owned by my great grandfather, A. B. Rogers as Rogers Resort. There were vacation cabins along the banks of the river as well as water rides. After one of the major floods took the cabins away, he donated the property to the city of San Marcos. He also owned the land that was developed into Aquarena Springs by his son, my grandfather Paul Rogers.

Ann Mary Carney purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Ann Mary Carney chose San Marcos

As a child growing up enjoying the San Marcos River while playing at Aquarena Springs, I experienced a peaceful and magical quality that I wanted to share with my family and friends. The property the cabin sits on is the last riverfront property in the family. We bought the cabin and had it moved to the property.

What makes this cabin unique

There is nothing like the sounds of the happy river floaters one hears from the cabin's deck. We cut out the french doors from what used to be a wall because of the view of the river on the other side. Playing pool and watching the river float by is the best thing ever!

WONDERFUL!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time! The house is in the perfect spot on the San Marcos River, you couldn't ask for a better spot in town, but doesn't feel like it, it felt really private. The cabin had everything you could possibly need. We played horse shoes, pool, sat around the fire pit, and enjoyed the back deck at night with the lights strung through the trees, I will definitely be back to this place! I didn't want to leave lol... we had a GREAT TIME! Oh!!!! If you have never been to the San Marcos River before the water is very clear its gorgeous!

Great Getaway at a Great Spot

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time here! Everything worked perfectly, was a good location in terms of river position, and had amenities to assist us. It was well kept up, and accurate to the description.

The only problem we had was mostly on us. The first person to arrive had trouble locating it, but it was more his lack of attention than anything.

Overall great place. Would go back to it.

Amazing stay

  • 5 of 5

In a word this property is WONDERFUL! The beds are extremely comfortable , the kitchen is very well stocked with things you may have forgotten to pack. The river is just at the bottom of the hill and so much fun. The kids loved picking blue bonnets and making smores at the campfire. Will definitely be back ! Thanks so much !

Loved it!

This cabin was absolutely perfect for our girls weekend out. The inside is cozy and very well equipped. The backyard is lovely and private.

We are planning on coming back and staying longer. The owner, Ann Mary, is great and easy to communicate with.

Great weekend

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is secluded for being in town and next to neighbors. The constant trains are annoying at night for light sleepers. The location was great for short and long floats. The grill and fire pit are key features. Bring an air mattress because he pullout couch is not comfortable.

Owner's Response: Great idea for an inflatable option for the Queen sleeper sofa in the living room! I will get one for my future guests who find the mattress with accompanying foam support that I've provided, not comfortable enough. Thanks for the suggestion.
