About Cory Clendenning

I am long time Edmontonian who loves to travel. I love what Golden offers in year round adventures. I visit Golden at least 6X a year and I've seen the community grow over the years.

Cory Clendenning purchased this townhome in 2009

Why Cory Clendenning chose British Columbia

We bought this property as I have been coming to Golden for more than 10 years for the world class white water rafting. I love what Golden offers in terms of rafting, SKIING is INCREDIBLE and now I've added the paragliding from Mount 7 to ths list. The golf course is amazing too!

What makes this townhome unique

We decided to buy in The Aspens after meeting the developer and seeing his hands on approach, as well as the privacy and unique design of these buildings. The views from our TOP FLOOR unit are BREATHTAKING. We have unobstructed views of both Kicking Horse Mountain and the valley.

Treasure Found in Golden

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Cory's condo in mid-August and weren't familiar with area, but it turned out be a high light of our trip.

The condo is located in the Kicking Horse resort area and is about a 10-15 minute drive up a winding road from the town of Golden. Tip: get any groceries you need in town before heading up the mountain if you want to save a trip.

The streets around the condo are super quiet and peaceful ( maybe a different story in winter ????). Kind of felt like we had the place to ourselves at times. Very relaxed vibe.

The air smelled of fresh pine as we sat in the hot tub and took in the incredible scenery. Hard to ever get tired of that.

The condo is small, but well set up so seemed bigger. There is plenty of cutlery, dishes etc and the cookware was good quality. Everything a cook needs including selection of spices. Also a dishwasher and compact washer and dryer including detergent.

The large balcony (with views) and hot tub are definitely the high point of the condo.

The TV is a decent size. HD channels would have been a bonus as the Olympics were on, but no biggie. There are also some board games and DVDs.

Cory is very good to deal with, excellent communication and he refunded our damage deposit promptly.

Tip: the sight seeing gondola ride up the mountain was awesome. No line ups either! Bonus- we spotted "Boo" the grizzly bear in his habitat on the way up and down the mountain.

Would recommend Cory's condo to anyone ( the only exception to that would be anyone with mobility issues as it is on the third floor-stair only access)

Cute & Cozy Condo

  • 5 of 5

The condo was exactly as described for our girls ski trip. Three of us stayed at the condo for three nights. It is conveniently located and we were able to ski in and ski out to Kicking Horse without much effort. It was nice being able to come back to the condo for lunch everyday. The bedding and beds were very nice and comfortable. There were plenty of towels and the bathroom is spacious. Hot tub on the beautiful deck worked great. We appreciated the games and DVDs there for the guests.

Great Mountain, Resort and Accommodations

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect mountain, resort and accommodations.

This condo is amazing, and the whole experience was great!

Booking and communicating with Cory was a breeze. Directions perfect.

The condo is amazing and has everything you could want, from dishes to laundry detergent its all here.

On to the best part...the location. Top row, ski in / ski out. Amazing. There was so much powder one day I wanted to switch my board up. I boarded right to the door, changed boards and then again boarded down to the lift. Amazing.

After a long day on the mountain, relaxing in the hot tub looking at the mountains was priceless and the perfect ending to the day.

I couldn't recommend Cory or his condo more.

Derran

Ps. And we watched NHL hockey on an HD channel. No. he doesn't have pay per view (who would in a rental), but we had no issue at all.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

Can't ask for anything better! Spectacular views of the mountains (from the hot tub!) and ski hill directly behind you. The inside is modern and in good shape. The heated tile in the bathroom and the tall comfy beds are added perks.

My husband and i have stayed there with our baby and another couple comfortably. The condo is well laid out and is of decent size. The owner seems pleasant and businesslike, and we found him easy to deal with. We have rented this particular unit a few times, and definitely plan to rent it again.

Great spot!

  • 5 of 5

Big thanks to Cory for renting his place to us! What a great spot-super convenient and cozy! He was really easy to deal with and was very attentive to us in the time leading up to and during our stay.

The unit is well appointed and comfortable with everything you would need in a short term rental unit.

We had two of us that weren't skiing and it was great to hang out while the rest of the group were out, we watched some of the movies provided and enjoyed the hot tub....and the view is amazing!

The unit was clean and well organized, the beds were comfortable, directions to the building were clear, and the information provided about the unit and surrounding area was very helpful.

We can't wait to head back soon and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends. Absolutely ideal for winter or summer vacations.

Thanks again Cory, we look forward to staying at your place again!

Pretty good...but check other Aspen units to rent first!

  • 3 of 5

Positive Feedback: Aspen units are on 3 different heights on the mountain. This unit is on the highest level so "very" close to the ski-in, so convenience of this unit is very good. All Aspen units are modern (granite counters, decent furniture, etc.). The large deck & hot-tub are great! The units are a bit small, but they are cozy. This unit did have an abundance of board games & DVDs to use.

The Constructive: I understand that these rentals are mostly used for ski trips, however you are in the unit in the evening. When we arrived, we turned on the TV (All Aspens have flat screen HD TVs) only to notice that the owner had not subscribed to any Hi-Def channels & there was a very thin selection of Standard-def channels. I can understand if somebody has personal preference for their own home of not wanting to spend an extra $20-$30/month to get decent Hi-Def with an avg. selection of channels, but when you are renting your place out & every other competing unit has Hi-Def and a full compliment of channels, it is a poor decision to cheap out and have 15 year old technology grainy TV with lame channels. If you have kids, don't expect children channels. If you want to watch an NHL game, don't expect to be able to as you don't even get basic SportsNet. The owner basically spent the minimum $ possible to even have a TV package. What's worse is that I contacted him immediately to express the concern & he committed to calling Shaw Cable to remedy the issue in the morning. New TV channels are added within minutes of calling Shaw. However, nothing was done & the owner never got back to me. That's a "major red flag" for you as you should expect owners to help out should you run into difficulties...and keep their word. Some other small things are that there is no kettle & only 5 dinner forks meaning if you ate a meal, you had to either wash the dishwasher with hardly anything in it or hand wash forks. Last, there was some minor damage to the unit. Blinds for the patio door were mostly pulled off so there was no way to obstruct outside view into the unit if you wanted privacy for your family.

I think this is a fair & balanced review of this property and "highly recommend" looking at other Aspens units to rent as the 5 other ones we have rented were better (other than ski-in proximity), at comparable cost, with a more reliable owner (biggest concern!).

Owner's Response: Hi Rob; Thanks for your feedback. To anyone reading this review please consider I have 28 other reviews that are all 5 star reviews. I communicate quickly and effectively with all my guests. It has never been an issue with previous guests not having hi def channels. I'm changing over to provide better service. The kettle was broke only a few days prior by previous guest and I was enroute from Edmonton with a new one a few days later, this is all prior to ski season in what is typically very slow period. I'll add some more cutlery now that this has been brought to my attention. Once again, I have MANY great reviews and this was disappointing to get off on the wrong foot with this guest.
