WaterColor, Harbour Island, Bahamas. An original boat captains cottage built in late 1700's. This charming island home walking distance to the best of Harbour Islands shops, restaurants, harbour and breathtaking three mile pink sand beach. The home has two main bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, plus an additional Annex (detached /originally boat house, then candy shop) built in bunk bedroom with detached bathroom and outdoor shower which is great for older children, a couple, in-laws or additional guests.
The decision of chilling out on the front porch catching up on island news and events or relaxing on one of the private back deck/porches to relish in the peace, quiet, and calm that island life has to offer is the toughest decision you will have to make at this island cottage. The outdoor living spaces are spacious and comfortable often offering a lovely breeze from either the harbour or the beach depending on the direction of the wind that day.
WaterColor has been featured in 'Town and Country,' the book 'Island Life' as well as many other articles on Harbour Island. Enjoy the quirky shabby chic island charm and convenience at WaterColor.
Relax, have fun, and enjoy!
The girls in the Harbour 2009
Owner / Manager purchased this house in 2004
The owners father taught school for the catholic church (only school at that time) on the island in 1965, he decided to make his second home there. Jessica partially grew up on the island and she and her husband Jim with there good friend Patrick purchased Watercolor in 2003, they are happy to be able to share the island expreince with WaterColor's guests.
We love coffee/tea in the morning on the front porch. Often walking the very short distance down to the harbour dock with our coffee and watching the fisherman head out for the day and hope for dolphin and sea turtle sightings.
We love happy hour in the evening on the upper deck (outdoor living) viewing the sunset and enjoying the quiet.
In between we enjoy running and yoga on the beach, boating/snorkeling/ fishing in the harbour, the local hang-outs, driving around in the golf-cart always detouring to a wonderful new adventure, everything a day on the island has to offer.
Several amazing dinner spots to walk to or cooking at home in the tiny but incredibly well-stocked kitchen (2 crock-pots, rice maker etc..) and dining on the antique french outdoor dining table at WaterColor with family and friends is even better.
Loved loved loved your charming home. Thank you so much. Enjoyed the privacy of the back garden and dining area, the observing from the front porch, the cozy inside and the outdoor shower. Princess was great! The dining and especially walking everywhere, loved that! What a beach and that view from the crows nest at sunset - wow.
Thank you so very much, we will return.
I recently traveled to Harbour Island for a friend's wedding that was being held at Coral Sands. While most guests stayed at the resort, 5 of us opted for a rental, simply to save on cost.
And boy did we get a deal with Watercolor.
Watercolor's location is AMAZING. Across the street from the Pigly Wigly market (that has everything from cheese and fruit to gluten free crackers), the Dunmore Deli (a must for a delicious sandwich and/or awesome breakfast), and a duty-free Wine/Liquor shop.
The beds were surprisingly quite comfortable - even the murphy bed.
We had hot water for our showers (although the boys always opted for the cool outdoor shower).
We were a little surprised that the 3rd bedroom was in a detached shed - until we opened it to discover a RAD little bungalow space - also with AC and a great bed.
We had plenty of towels, lots of refrigerator space, and the blender was perfect for mid-afternoon roof top daiquiris.
We had a petty theft incident from the house on the last night of our stay, but likely because we left the front door open (we were all on the wonderful back patio). Other than that, the house/location feels very secure and safe.
We travel a lot and have stayed at some wonderful resorts and hotels, and we were absolutely satisfied with our stay in this lovely home.
My husband and I took our 3 children and stayed at Water Color for our Spring Break. Being from the Vail Valley in Colorado, we were so excited to head to the beach. The island is absolutely wonderful, and Water Color is perfectly located in town, close to everything, and convenient to restaurants, grocery, and the beach. The house is quaint, full of "at home feel" furniture, photos, and beach trinkets. My husband and I have stayed at Water Color with another couple a few years ago and it was a delight to bring our children back. Love this property! Thank you for making your home a home to us as well. We will tell our friends about your special home and refer others.
Watercolor completely exceeded our expectations! The photographs cannot do it justice, and it was so much more welcoming than a cramped hotel. The house is over 300 years old, but has been renovated & redesigned (there is a wonderful outdoor shower and a detached bedroom with built-in bunks! Our teenagers loved it!)
Watercolor is incredibly comfortable and incredibly charming! It's conveniently located in the heart of town, and yet a short walk to the beach and The Pink Sands Hotel.
The owner has long standing relationships and connections on the island for anything you might need -- we highly recommend the private chef and conch chowder dinner ... Don't forget to have them prepare some Goombay Smash!
This was our 6th time staying at Watercolor and again it did not disappoint. It has become our home away from home. We absolutely love staying in town and walking to all the restaurants and stores. My kids loved the new bunk room and outdoor shower and brand new bathroom! The house is very well kept and has all the creature comforts of home down to the incredibly comfortable beds. The owner has done a fabulous job with the interior design making it feel very islandy and still current and comfortable. We can't wait to stay here again next year!!
My family (husband, 3 boys ages: 15,12, 9) and I stayed at Watercolors for a wonderful week in the beginning of November.
We adored the house - it is full of character and charm, perfect for kids! The boys especially loved showering outside and the roof top deck. Great beach cottage! We also loved the location.
We have rented places using VRBO before and, unlike others, this one is as exactly as described AND is a great value, if you know Harbour Island at all!
I would totally recommend Watercolors to anyone/family looking for a laid-back island getaway - the owners were easy and awesome to deal with too!
Ok,first you must realize that this house is almost 300 years old. Talk about history, this house has it. Folks who appreciate antiquity and restoration will love to stay here. We have been here for a week and we hate the thought of having to leave tomorrow. WaterColor has 3 levels with spectacular views at the top. Plentty of room for families with many nooks and crannys. It is in a PERFECT location with Piggly Wiggly across street and the Art Gallery around the corner. When you reserve a Golf Cart, have it delivered to the house prior to your arrival. A Golf Cart is a Must. The owners have supplied every need and more. Do not pass up this house, you will love it !
Beach chairs, cooler and beach towels provided. Also available for small rental fee at beach so you do not have to carry anything:).
