Overview

About the property

2 1/2 acres of piece and quiet, best views of the Milky Way.

No need to get in the car and drive to the river, it's 30 feet across the lawn. The Riverhouse is a unique 3 bedroom home with large decks, the yard has 1200 feet of Wood River frontage. Fly fish or swim from the yard.

Barbeque on the deck, sit by the fire at night and gaze at the millions of stars over head. The biggest comment we get about the Riverhouse is how peaceful it is. There are 2 1/2 acres of landscaped property for you to enjoy. Play horse shoes, swim, bike, hike in the Seven Lakes Basin just three miles from the Riverhouse. Crater Lake Park entrance is 5 miles up highway 62. My wife and I have seen many beaver in the Wood River. Visit the Oregon State fish hatchery 10 minutes south on Highway 62 where you will take in the Cascade mountains and the Wood River Valley on this short drive or bike ride.A new addition to our area is the Crater Lake Zip Line. The longest zip line in Oregon just a 20 minute drive from the Riverhouse. Please check them out online.

About Tim and Jean Wiest

I grew up 15 miles from The Riverhouse and have admired this property since I was a child. We live in Vacaville Ca. and southern Oregon. We have 4 sons between us and 5 grand children. We love the Riverhouse and spend as much time in Southern Oregon as possible.

Tim and Jean Wiest purchased this house in 2006

Why Tim and Jean Wiest chose Fort Klamath

If you want privacy and peace come to the Riverhouse. Sit on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the river go by. Birds are chirping, Eagles overhead. Fish from the yard, play horse shoes, just enjoy the nataral beauty of this property. BBQ on the deck at dinner time, enjoying the river and birds and squirrels. Gaze at the Milky Way and the rest of the Heavens at night.

What makes this house unique

Close to Crater Lake. An Oregon State fish hatchery 5 miles away. Peace and quiet in your own place. Lots of trails to hike and bike. Seven Lakes Basin is just a ten minute drive, Klamath Basin is home to two national wildlife refuges. Sun Pass State Forest is ten minutes north, the historic Fort Klamath site is two minutes drive or a nice 15 minute walk. I recommend the walk to the Fort to take in the Cascade Mountain range, the cattle grazing on miles of pasture, it's just a great place to see.

BEST getaway ever for us two

  • 5 of 5

Though well described and I liked review-write-ups, our own experience was amazing….relaxing….the September warm-hues of the willows, the quiet river sounds, (though NOW I see I forgot to really look for Beavers that were mentioned by Jeff), all the sitting spots and pretty new red umbrella just begged for more people, but we really needed the quiet, and after hiking Garfield Peak behind Crater Lake Lodge, just decided to stay put. No restaurants, brought our own comfort food, including amazing salmon a friend had got on his recent Bodega Bay ocean outing at home county, Sonoma, northern CA, great on the very clean BBQ. Very comfortable….missing it….want to return with more folks.

Quick visit

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late one afternoon and left early the next morning, and it was cold and raining. So we did not have much chance to enjoy the property outside. However, it was easy to find, comfortable and well furnished. We would stay there again.

lovely house and location

  • 4 of 5

We all enjoyed our stay at the Riverhouse. Everything that was needed was in the house. The house is surounded by a big deck on 2 sides of the house. Lots of outdoor space. The location fire pit set up outside is great and the location of the house just perfect to get to the Crater Lake National Park.

Peaceful, Beautiful and Conveniently Located Close to Crater Lake National Park

  • 5 of 5

For our visit to Crater Lake National Park, we decided to stay in this lovely home, and were very pleased with our decision. This home is located right by a beautiful river, in a very large and well kept park like setting. We felt right at home with the fully equipped kitched, spacious living room, comfortable bedrooms and were also delighted with gorgeous views, nature all around, wondeful trees, singing birds, and peaceful surroundings. Each night, we took advantage of the firepit and supplied wood for a gorgeous evening fire under the brilliant stars.

Crater Lake National Park is just a short drive away, making this home a great choice for outdoors/nature lovers and those wanting to experience a visit to this beautiful national park while enjoying a comfortable home type setting for their stay.

If we ever have the good luck of a repeat visit to Crater Lake National Park and surrounding areas, we would definitely choose to stay in this home again.

Just what we needed...

  • 4 of 5

The Riverhouse was well-equipped for our visit to the area, and Crater Lake NP. While the home is older (as are most in the area) it was clean, well-furnished, and peaceful. The kitchen has everything you need to make home-cooked meals, and the grounds have plenty of options for keeping yourself entertained in the evenings. We enjoyed our stay.
