About Susan Brunner
Following years of studying, working and traveling in France, we are complete Francophiles hoping to retire to Burgundy in the future. Our daughters both love France too, and although still at school and university, spend as much time as possible working with us to ensure that the rentals at Rue Montmeix are everything you could want. Sometimes we will be there to welcome guests, but on the occasions we are not, we have a wonderful local manager to look after you. The most enjoyable thing is sharing recommendations of wine and food between our guests and recommending local attractions.
Susan Brunner purchased this House in 2011
Why Susan Brunner chose Meursault
After years of wanting to buy in France, we had decided on the wine villages of Burgundy as our favorite location. We wanted to be in one of the prime villages of the area, with easy access to beautiful Beaune. Unable to find property to rent of the quality we required over the years, we were thrilled to find the house through a local firm of property designers and builders - although needing total renovation we fell in love with the charm and peace of numéro 6 immediately, totally won over by the stone, woodwork and fabulously peaceful views.
What makes this House unique
Rue Montmeix is truly our piece of paradise, which we love sharing! Uniquely positioned only 150 metres from the village square and all its amenities (2 bakers, great butcher, small supermarket, kitchen shop, Tabac, three or four restaurants and 50 vignerons!), the two houses that we rent out have been newly renovated from the beautiful stone winemaker's barn that our house (yet to be renovated!) is part of. The houses are calm and quiet, light and cool in summer, and warm and cosy in the winter, with some amazing stone walls and a beautiful oak frame, all carefully renovated by local master craftsmen. They face south, with a small vineyard in front, a newly reclaimed one being planted to the right, and views up to the vine-covered hills. The outside space is huge, especially for a wine village - each house has its own parking space, lots of privacy and its own outside bbq and eating area. In addition, the two rentals share a luxurious decked area, boule court area, and top of the range hot tub.

Absolutely first rate in every way
A beautiful property in a lovely quiet location with vineyard views yet just a few minutes’ walk from the village centre. Don’t worry if it’s as good as the pictures - it’s even better and Susan is a great hostess.
Exquisite place to relax and enjoy the wonders of Meursault
This was our second visit to Susie & Andy's incredible Meursault home. It is truly one of the best stocked vacation rentals we've ever stayed in. Their care and attention to detail shows up in everything - the quality of the bedding and linens, the decor, the amenities. The hospitality is incredible as well. Meursault is perfectly situated for visiting all parts of Bourgogne, plus you can simply walk to visit a number of vineyards. We cannot wait to return again and again!
Thank you so much! It was great to see you again, and we are looking forward to your next visit already!
Beautiful house in wonderful location in wine country
We stayed for a short week this spring and had a great stay.
The house is an old building converted into very modern facility. Everything you could want is provided to make your stay very comfortable.
Location could not be better. In the middle of Burgundy wine country and short walk to center of Meursault where you can find restaurants and shops.
Susan was fantastic and very responsive and open to help us in any way possible.
We will return again for sure. Our experience could not have been better.
Wonderful location, cozy home and a perfect vacation spot in Burgundy!
This house was wonderful. We loved the outdoor space. It was clean and well stocked with all of the amenities that you would need for a comfortable stay. The beds were comfortable and the updated bathrooms were terrific. Susan is very responsive and always available to answer questions, or make recommendations. Highly recommended!
Can't wait to return!
Despite having spent a lot of time in France, this was our first visit to Burgundy ( with our two 20-something children). It won’t be our last, and we will never stay anywhere else! Absolutely no complaints, except that we hadn’t planned a longer stay. Everything was first rate. First, the views, from the beautiful garden and all the windows – so lovely and peaceful. Then the house itself: despite record heat at the time of our visit in July, the thick stone walls made it a welcome refuge. With beautiful furnishings, delightful personal touches and attention to detail, the overall effect was one of charm, comfort and calm. The gourmet kitchen (kindly pre-stocked with a few essentials) makes you want to cook; the master bedroom is a peaceful retreat with a fantastic bath, and everything was so clean – have to admit I really loved that part! The hosts provided countless thoughtful touches - I’ve never been in a rental property where I felt so much a guest instead of a client. Susie was a delight to meet, and an excellent resource on the area. She also responded quickly to any inquiries before and during the stay.
As others have noted, the location is the best of both worlds – a quiet, scenic village right on the bike path, and yet so close to Beaune and countless other villages and vineyards waiting to be explored. A la prochaine visite!
Thank you so much for your lovely review - and looking forward to seeing you again. You are right, the biggest complaint we get is people didn't stay for long enough - there is so much to see in the area. A la prochaine!
Incredible property in the most charming Burgundy town
We have stayed at over 12 different VRBO/HomeAway properties in the past 8 years. This was our favorite. The house #1 is spacious, beautifully decorated, and completely outfitted with every possible thing you could need. Beds, very comfortable, bathrooms, large and spacious, kitchen made you want to cook. But, best of all is the extremely large deck overlooking the vineyard and the hills of Meursault covered in vines. We spent every evening in various parts of the deck listening to the birds chirp and taking in the vast view of Meursault, Vilnius, and Pommard. Equally impressive we're are hosts Susan and Andy, originally from GB, now living in Frace and Portugal. Gracious, accommodating , and a lot of fun. We asked them to join us for some Champagne and we enjoyed their stories and company very much.
Meursault is the perfect jumping-off place for Burgundy. Ten minutes to Beaune, 40 min to Dijon, and many great Burgundy wine villages all within 20 min. The town has 4-5 restaurants, 2 boulangeries, fish and meat market, fresh veggies store. Everything you need is less than a 5 min walk.
Meursault is one of the prime wine producing villages in the Cote D'Or and provides access to all of Burgundy, being a short distance from the wonders of Beaune. The village has over 50 vignerons, and wine tours can be arranged all over the region. A huge number of restaurants of every type can be found in the surrounding area.
