Great apartment

The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and is located near excellent restaurants, jazz clubs and was subway close. Razia was very responsive to questions and very accommodating.

Excellent location and friendly owners

We stayed for a week. Great neighborhood, great location. Just a few blocks from Central Park. We didn’t miss the kitchen, but just know that there is no sink. Lovely owners, very easy communication. Make sure you hit Harlem Coffee right around the corner – best coffee in Harlem. Thanks, Razia and Alan - we will be back !

Very well suited to us

Razia and Harvey were extremely welcoming and very helpful. The apartment is well suited to two single individuals. We weren't interested in cooking so didn't need a kitchen. Position is great. Handy to Harlem Coffee and the subway and a great selection of restaurants in Harlem to choose from. Felt safe walking around the streets in the area. We walked to Central Park for a few hours of cycling and dropped into the Guggenheim along the way. A great two weeks in NYC, many thanks.

Bias and Discriminating

I’ve rented vacation homes before so I expected this trip to Harlem to be the same as others. Relaxing and fun. I booked room a month in advance for a girls trip. The apartment is nice but it’s doesnt mention that there’s a whole family living downstairs because I walked in to almost 12 pairs of shoes by the front door. Met with House manger Harvey and we got settled in. Asked to take a picture of my ID. I complied with no problem. Everything was fine until I get a phone call from my friend who decided to stay in first night while myself and another friend went out. She called and told me the house manager was at the door (12:30am) to get another copy of my ID and picture of debit/credit card. I’m all the way in Brooklyn, told he could have called instead of a late night pop-up. Second thing was I believed I had booked room for 3 ppl, house owner stated it only showed 2 ppl. So I informed her of house manager not acting professional and what happened the night before. I told her if she could take the extra person fee out of deposit that would work. House owner stated no problem and simultaneously I get a wrong text from house manager saying “I still think she’s a bit fishy, but we’ll see”. I realized he must have been texting the house owner. From there I was rubbed all the wrong way. To be a young black professional women and to be discriminated in the Mecca of “blackness” in Harlem was very disappointing to me. I called the house manager out and he tried to avoid the situation but it was too late. Now our trip was only three days and had to deal with this until checkout. The final kicker was Sunday was checkout and I was the first to descend from brownstone with my luggage with house manager waiting in front. He then asked me if the person who booked the vacation rental was coming down and i told him, I’ve been that person all weekend and proceeded to leave the property. Worst vacation experience ever to be treated bias as minority by a minority. Crazy times.

Dear Jelen I am very sorry that you felt any discrimination; we treat all our guests from Homeway the exact same way which is we ask to look at a photo ID at check in. Your photo ID did NOT match the name on the booking; reason why Harvey had to take a picture of it and send to me, i was out of town at that time. With other booking sites we do not require to see a photo ID because they do a theral ID check and make sure credit card and name match. Unfortunately with Homeway we have to do the ID check ourselves. We had series of bad experiences at the beginning of this year where people after staying with us denied the charge (as it was paid by a different name than the people staying there); so we lost a lot of money that way. The second reason for further checking is that you booked for 2 people and ended up being more people without warning us and then telling us you thought it was the same price. Again we had that experience with Homeaway several times in the past months; one guest booked for 2 people and ended up 9 in the 2 rooms and minor to top it off (we don't accept bookings from people below 21 years old). So i am not saying everybody is the same but we have the right to make sure who exactly is staying with us. That is part of our security measure as this is our home and we want our other guests to feel safe as well. Again a am terribly sorry that you felt that way as that was not our intention. We've been hosts for 15 years with homeaway and Thank God we've had mostly great reviews and keen to keep it going that way. Cheers Razia

Perfect

The appartement fits 100% to de description. The location is amazing, quite but in the center of New York. Reception and everything arrount our stay way as you might expect. A real recommendation!!! I would love to come again in 2019!

Awesome experience!

First time to NYC and had an amazing time! Razia's place was perfect! Great location, very comfortable, clean and so much room for the price. Both Razia and Alan (property manager) were great to work with and so accommodating. Close to Harlem Coffee (delish!) and Harlem Pizza.. yummy! Wine store and Whole Foods just blocks away which was perfect for us. It made our NYC experience so much more relaxing, it was like coming home in the evenings after a busy day of sightseeing and the NYC Marathon. Public transporation is so close and easy to access. We are planning a future trip to NYC and hopefully this property will be available.

Great home! Clean, bright and fresh!

Stayed for a weekend trip. The home has two comfortable rooms which are fresh and clean. The bathroom is newly redone and looks great. The home is close to subway, which was perfect. Nice neighborhood with a cool little ice cream shop. They make their own small batch ice creams!! Make sure to visit Sugar Hill Creamery.

Really nice place with clean spacious rooms. The neighborhood was nice and quiet.

We enjoyed our stay and felt like we had a comfortable place to come back to after a busy day in the city. ONLY wish they had more towels for us. Other than that we were met by a super guy whe we arrived, the place was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable and the apartment was quiet. Great stay!

Sorry you felt a shortage in towels, we usually give two towels per person, but it is true that upstairs you don't have a washer and dryer so for longer stays than 2 days i will make sure going forward that there is an extra towel available per person. Our goal is to make our guests happy and we appreciate every suggestion. Hope to see you again soon!

My first NYC visit

Let me start off by saying that Razia & Alan were both extremely helpful and made my family feel very comfortable in their beautiful home. This was a perfect spot to be for my first visit to NYC and I would definitely stay again if(I mean when!) I go back to the city . Close to the A,B,C,D,1,&2 trains, great Harlem Coffee Co nearby, and you have to check out Sexy Taco Dirty Cash a stones throw away. Getting to and from anywhere in Manhattan was super easy(highly recommend City Mapper App). Bed was comfortable, sheets/towels were clean, and the house was exactly how I imagined a NYC Brownstone to be. Place has A/C units in each room, which is definitely a must for anyone traveling to NYC during the spring/summer. There is a very small kitchenette, but the fridge is a good size and was all we needed for my week in the city. Bathroom is a good size, shower is beautiful and good water pressure & heat. Highly recommend this place for anyone traveling to the city and if you do decide to stay, say Hi to 2 very warm and welcoming hosts, Razia & Alan for me. Cheers from Seattle!

i fell in love with this property first as a renter; the look of the house, the location, and the quiet and soothing energy.
We wanted to buy a house in Harlem, and as soon as i visited this one i knew this was the one; yes just like a love story.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

close to all subways 2-3-A-B-C-D and buses, 12 mn subway ride to Times Square, 5mn walk to central park where you can jog; 5 mn walk to Whole Food 124st and Lenox(opening this summer), great restaurants minutes away and still very quiet.
