This property is ski accessible vs. true ski-in/out. It is possible to come in and out on skis, but poling and skating will be necessary.

Ski Out:

Two options. Trail is groomed immediately to left of house. Ski the trail to the bottom and turn right. You will need to skate/pole for approximately 100 yards to lift. Ski In:

Lower Morningstar to second set of Powder Ridge signs on the left. Follow the signs for White Otter Access and follow the access trails back towards the White Otter skier bridge. Cross over the bridge and immediately turn right on the groomed access and ski back under the chair lift. Follow to the bottom of the White Otter Chair and take a right turn on the groomed access behind the lift. Follow this slightly down sloping trail for 100 yards back to area behind the cabin and hike up to the cabin. Perfect Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Wow! What a great place to stay!! The cabin was very clean and felt like home. Nothing so perfect you felt like you couldn't use it but very nice. My family stayed there for 9 days and 8 nights. We had a blast! You are just about one hour from Yellowstone Park, very easy drive. The two small towns nearby made for easy shopping and dining out. I would tell him to stop by a larger grocery store on your way to the cabin though, just to get the things you truly want.

The deck out back of the cabin was perfect to sit and enjoy nature as its best. Every night a small herd of deer would be grazing by the cabin. We also had a fox drop by one night, a wolf followed the deer up the hill one evening and a moose come by around 6 am. The fox and the wolf were within 20 yards of the cabin and the moose was grazing about 25 feet from the back deck and was easier watched from the dining area window. The deer seemed to be use to people and would slow move from the lower part of the canyon to the top of the hill were the cabin sits. You could watch them for hours.

The cabin itself is very clean and could easily sleep 13 people, the bathrooms are nice and clean, and well stocked. The kitchen as everything you will need to cook. It was just about like being in your own home but with the most amazing view of the ski slopes and the forest.

I must warn you about the drive up to the cabin after you leave the highway from Bozeman, watch the road because between 6:30am and 11:00am you are most likely going to cross a herd of long horn mountain sheep. I counted about 5 rams and 2 ewes, they graze along the road and traffic will not spook them. Just slow down.

We spent two days fly fishing with “ Wild Trout Outfitters” takes about 20 mins to drive to their shop from the cabin and they treated us like kings. Call and ask for JD, he will take care of your fishing trip. The guide named “Sam” took us on the great fishing trip. My son(16y/o) who had never fly fished before was a pro in just two days. He caught more fish than me and his Grandfather. I want to say, 22 trout in two days. It was amazing to watch him have so much fun.

We also spent a day with “Montana Whitewater” it takes about 35 mins to drive to their location. We had an wonderful time rafting and zip lining with them. Plus they have a great little food truck on location. Amazing people, you will love every exciting minute of the fun.

I am looking forward to my next trip there!

Owner's Response: John, Wow, thank you for such an amazing review of White Otter cabin. It sounds like Montana provided some fantastic adventures for your family. I love that you had the chance to enjoy so much local wildlife from your perch on the deck. Many thanks too for all the "local" tips on fun activities and service providers. We hope you will visit again! (Maybe to beat your amazing fish count :) Sincerely, Kirsten and the Big Sky Vacation Rentals Team

The house was nice. Needs a little better cleaning.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here in July. The house itself was exactly what we wanted. It was spacious for our group of 12. The kids had plenty of room to play. The hot tub was very clean and hot when we arrived. We were greeted promptly by a Big Sky member upon arrival and they went over everything we needed to know about the house and the amenities. The views are spectacular. We even had deer out our door a few evenings. The only bad thing I can say about our stay is the cleanliness of the house. We paid a cleaning fee of $450. The cleaners go “around” all of the furniture. If you look under any of the furniture, it is pretty dirty. Plus, they want you to do a load of towels for them before you leave. I feel that for a cleaning fee of $450, the place should be spotless. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend it to others.

Owner's Response: Josh, Thank you so much for the feedback on White Otter Cabin. I am thrilled you found the home spacious and as advertised. Love that you saw wildlife on your visit. I have reached out to the vendor that cleans this home to let them know about your disappointment in the clean and asking them to give extra attention to areas under the furniture on their next visit. Just to note, the cleaning fee includes the $75 drain and refill charge on the hot tub and $25 for professional laundering of the linens. While I understand $350 is still significant, I did want to better explain the charges. Again, many thanks for staying with us and we hope to have you as our guests back in Big Sky soon! Sincerely, Kirsten and the Big Sky Vacation Rentals Team

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

Great house in a great location that perfectly accommodated 9 guys on our annual ski trip. Big Sky Vacation Rentals was very pleasant to work with and their assistance in delivering our lift tickets and shipped skis to the house was a major convenience that helped us save time and allowed us to maximize our time on the mountain from day one. Very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions of which areas of Big Sky to take advantage of.

The cabin was nice but what really made it great was the scenery and seeing deer and even a fox.

The cabin was surrounded by big pines and wild flowers. It was just like roughing it but we had the cabin. Lots of wild life

Great property! Very spacious!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in this cabin was wonderful. All 4 of our families fit very well in this spacious cabin. The upper game room and large deck were utilized often. We saw 2-3 deer outside almost every morning. The property management company was also very helpful. We'd definitely stay here again.
