If you want an up to date fishing forecast search online for bayrock 1 or shore thing charters. I made a trip out not far from the dock with Hal, the onsite charter fishing service and caught over 20 trout keeping 8 large ones. If you want to contact Hal give me a ring (rul - bobzien) (seven, eight, five, two, six, two, nine, four, three, six) Scalloping wise the seasons have been abbreviated. We haven't seen any catches like Ryan's group who gathered 170 gallons of scallops in 2015 and were even selective, throwing out scallops of insufficient size to harvest later. He donated a quart bag to the author and they tasted like fried butter. Enough said. They were goooood!!!!! Another group came equipped with several small sections of 3/4" electrical conduit and proceeded to harvest all stingrays in site. The conduit tool was used to punch out the meat from the back of the stingray. They fried the round stingray meat just like a scallop. If I was eating stingray mixed in with some store bought scallops I would not have known the difference. This was plain good eating and much more exciting than collecting scallops. Another group brought some gigs and instead of scalloping went floundering. Within a 100' of the dock there was a big shout and Anita from Germany had gigged her first flounder. It was a beauty about 25". The perfect size for 2 people, So if you like spears, gigs, harpoons, fishing arrows, crabbing, kayaking, snorkeling. rapture watching (eagles, ospreys, hawks and owls), fishing and windsurfing the bay is for you. The next best secret is shark fishing. Personally I go out with a hack saw and cut the body in half just behind the anus. This tail section is all meat with center cartilage. I continue cutting one - 1.5 inch steaks off the tail section and these go on ice. No messing with fillet knives, blood or guts. No need to remove the skin it falls off once cooked. Put these on the grill brushed with olive oil along with lemon juice, garlic and your favorite seasoning and in no time you will have a real delicacy. Even people who don't like fish would like this. Eats like a real tender pork chop. Sightings of eagles swooping down to pick up trout have been witnessed by guests sitting on the back porch. One report of a 6' tarpon swimming under dock occurred in May.
