Welcome to Dorrigo Rainforest Retreat - a peaceful off-grid cottage perched on the Dorrigo Plateau. Just one minute from the World Heritage-listed rainforest and six minutes from town, this hideaway blends eco-friendly living with modern comfort.

Unwind after a day of exploring with sweeping views across farmland and rainforest clad mountains, relax by the fire in the cold season or enjoy a sunset drink on the spacious deck.

With flexible sleeping arrangements and thoughtful touches, the retreat is perfect for couples, friends, or families seeking a quiet escape.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the cottage offers:

Two bedrooms: one with a queen bed, and one with a king bed (convertible to two singles). High quality linen and cotton bedding provided.

Comfortable interiors: double-glazed windows, block-out blinds, recycled hardwood finishes, and a cosy combustion fireplace (with firewood and safety screen provided).

Modern amenities: air conditioning, smart TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a fully equipped kitchen.

Eco-friendly systems: filtered rainwater supply, greywater irrigation, and a dry compost toilet (please note: electric heaters can’t be used).

Guests enjoy full access to the cottage via a reliable all-weather road.

Being so close to the National Park we managed to do a few spectacular walks & the cottage was perfect for relaxing afterwards with everything you could possibly need. Craig answered all our questions and was very welcoming. We will definitely be back!!

Peaceful and tranquil very well set up easy access and if anyone's thinking about living off grid this is the place to experience it first hand. Loved the planting and the caring for the environment attitude, enjoyed seeing cows close up. Comfortable beds definitely will be staying again

Serene and beautiful cottage, moments from the National Park

We stayed three nights, my family of 4 and just loved it. The cottage itself is beautifully crafted and considered and looks out on to the stunning mountain backdrop. Moments from the National Park and a short 5 min drive to Dorrigo town, the cottage has everything you need. We had a wonderful stay and hope to be back. Highly recommend this special place.

We absolutely loved the beautiful views of rolling hills and farms. So relaxing. Despite being off the grid, it had all the amenities, nothing was missing. Fireplace was amazing! Definitely coming back again.

Craig was very welcoming and had lots of extra touches such as a beautiful vase of fresh flowering waratahs.The view to the west was wonderful, inside and outside on the balcony.The area was peaceful. The kitchen only had the 2 gas burners for cooking plus a microwave. Fridge was of a good size and rest of the kitchen was well equipped. Lounge area could probably have a couple of newer chairs.

Beautiful stay

We absolutely loved our stay at the Rainforest Cow. Communication with Craig was simple, fast and welcoming. Check in was easy just needing the key code. The view from the property is stunning. We were lucky to see sun, mist, rain and a storm over the coast during our time there. We listening to the cows aswell. If you are travelling to the Dorrigo National Park the entrace is basically at the end of the street. Its perfect. Everything in the cottage is so incredibly clean, modern and comfortable. The beds were so good and the warm mats on the floor were a nice touch. Fast wifi too if you need it. My partner needed to attend to online meetings during the stay so that was very helpful. Would very much recommend. Thanks Craig for sharing
