The main floor features a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, front porch, full bathroom with standing shower, bedroom with queen bed and ample closet space, laundry, front entry area with bench and coat hooks, and back porch mud room with small chest freezer and coat hooks. The dining room is set to seat 4 and can be expanded for larger groups. The house has 2 steps to the front door, plus a step into the main house from the entry.

The upstairs includes the large master bedroom with queen bed and ample closet and shelf space, a full bathroom with tub/shower, and a smaller bedroom with sitting area including futon. This floor is the second story of the home accessible by a full staircase.

The property is on Devils Lake’s historic 4th Street, giving you the perfect spot to enjoy the Devils Run and 4th of July parades from the front yard or enclosed front porch. It is centrally located and highly convenient when enjoying the town of Devils Lake:

- Fairview Grocery is 0.3 miles away and Leevers Grocery is a quick drive.

- Walk to downtown: the property is 0.2 miles from the KC Hall, 0.3 miles from Black Paws Brewery, and 0.4 miles from the Liquid Bean.

- Walk to the parks: 0.5 miles to the bike path at Ruger Park and less than 1 mile to the Ruger Park swimming pool and playground areas, less than 1 mile to Roosevelt Park.

- The property is within close proximity of the Memorial Building as well as the Heritage Center, museum, shops, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, public library, churches, grade school and middle school.

- Wide street and easy access to main roads for quick and easy access to the lake as well as other area attractions.

On-street parking only at this time. Absolutely no fish/game cleaning on-site. No events, parties, or large gatherings. No smoking. Pets must be approved in advance and for an additional fee. Early check-in and later check-out may be available and for an additional fee.

There are motion activated exterior security cameras at the front entrance (smart doorbell) and near the gate to the back yard. The yard camera is set to view the entrance to the garage. All cameras are exterior facing.

Love the house!

Our family of 5 stayed in this cozy home and loved it. The house was very clean, cozy, and well furnished. The neighborhood was very nice as well. The host was prompt with any questions we had, and very accommodating with a change in plans that came up unexpectedly. Highly recommend the place!

Rachel was very kind and quick to respond to messages. She was attentive when we accidentally locked the door and couldn’t get into the house around 11pm and also informed us that she may not have service when she was out. Great neighborhood. The house was clean and cozy.

Historic 4th Street is one of the most charming areas in Devils Lake. It’s quiet, walkable, and just a few blocks from downtown. I’ve always appreciated the character of this neighborhood—with its classic homes, tree-lined streets, and friendly small-town feel. There’s a true sense of community here, and it's the kind of place where neighbors wave from the porch and take pride in their homes. It’s also a convenient home base—close to parks, local events, and lake access—while still offering a peaceful retreat. That combination of comfort, charm, and convenience makes it a great place for guests to relax, explore, and feel at home during their stay.

Charmer on 4th offers the comfort and character of a true home—not just a place to stay. The house is modest but full of thoughtful details, many of them added by the previous owners, known locally as the “Leben family.” A beloved schoolteacher and her husband, a skilled brick mason, raised five children here. He added custom tile in the entryway and built the stonework and bench seating in the front porch—features that give the home its one-of-a-kind charm.

Inside, you’ll find original built-in shelving in the living room and master bedroom, a cozy reading nook and closet space in the main floor bedroom, and repurposed radiator covers that add vintage appeal. The two-story layout offers flexibility, and the enclosed front porch and fenced backyard with a fire pit invite guests to relax and feel at home.

One feature that often catches guests’ attention is the unique sunroom and garage structure in the backyard. While it may look like a second home, it’s not a separate unit or apartment. It’s a historic part of the property that I’m in the process of refurbishing for future use—and it adds to the character and story of the space.

The quiet neighborhood is walkable to downtown shops, parks, and events. My trusted property manager lives next door and is available for on-site support, and I’m always reachable online if you need anything before or during your stay. Whether you're visiting for one night or an extended stay, this home is set up to be welcoming, functional, and full of character.
