Built in 1945 as a secondary residence on our property the Hobbit House has much charm and a couple of quirks. The first quirk is how the Hobbit House gets its name. There are several doorways, the transition between the living room/dining room and a beam on the back deck that are only slightly above 6 foot tall. If you are over 6 foot tall you have been warned. The second quirk is that the one bathroom is only accessible through the bedroom. Both bedrooms have a queen bed and a smart tv. The kitchen has a full sized electric range and oven, ,full sized refrigerator, a microwave, coffee maker, and all the pots ,pans, and utensils you may need to prepare food. There is no dishwasher. There will always be some coffee, teas, and snacks for you when you arrive and if you get in late or don’t feel like going out for food we will have some pasta and sauce you can make or some soup to heat up. Should you want to venture out for a bite there are food trucks , restaurants, and coffee shops within a few miles. There are also grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, gift shops very close by. Again we offer a OUTDOOR smoking area for you to enjoy your smoke of choice but ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING IN THE HOUSE. We live right next door and will be happy to assist you in any way we can and equally happy to leave you in peace if that is your desire. We are located slightly over a hour away to the Pacific Ocean thru ancient redwoods and along the beautiful Smith River. Many wineries are in the area. The famous National Park of the Oregon caves is about a 30 minute drive from here. There is a Wild Cat park and a Butterfly Conservatory just down the road, A golf course and a disc golf course are within a few miles. The amazing Illinois River is very close and offers hiking trails and water fun. Again we want you to very much enjoy your stay here so please let us know if we can accommodate you in any way.

This property was clean, quiet and comfortable! Plenty of room to spread out and multiple places to sit and chill, including a nice patio. It's just a short distance off the main road, with little traffic and no road noise. Parking is super easy with plenty of room to get in and out. We were there for 2 nights during shoulder season and had to use both AC and heat, and it was easy to keep this stand-alone building comfortable. We'd definitely stay here again!

Adorable, colorful 2 bdrm. Cottage with all needed amenities. Host was friendly and attentive.
Check and stay we’re super easy. It’s a very comfy space and we loved the paint scheme of every room being in different color. It’s a very quiet location but is very close to town, like a 2 minute drive. Will definitely stay again next we come up to visit.

The location worked out great for us since we were visiting the cave. The house was well stocked with perks for guests. The only negative was that the only door to the bathroom was through one bedroom.
This place is awesome. Reminded me of my grandmas house. Very quiet and relaxing. I would recommend this to everyone. I will definitely stay here when I back into the area.

The Hobbit House was everything we needed. Our home away from home. The property outside was well kept. The interior was very clean. It had all of the amenities we needed. Just bring your clothes. The location was very quiet and safe. We stargazed every night. I gighly recommend this place. We came to visit Oregon Cave National Forest.
The Hobbit House was a wonderful find! It felt like somebody took time in each room to make it like they would want it if they stayed there. Quiet location. Parking right at the door. Central a/c. The hosts are great people who communicated well. We look forward to staying here again. Highly recommend!
