About Joyce A. Harrison
Owners are a family of 4 whose children have grown up in the summer on the shore of Moosehead Lake. We have been renting our home for the last 13 years during the prime season. Owners are Wildlife Biologists and can give expert information on where to moose watch, and discuss the wildlife of the Maine Woods as well as give ideas for local hikes, photography spots, kayak/ canoe trips, biking routes.
Joyce A. Harrison purchased this Cabin in 1986
Why Joyce A. Harrison chose Beaver Cove
The beautiful North Maine Woods and the Moosehead Lake area are a treasure. The deep clear water is perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing. Wildlife abound with moose, loons, foxes, mink, otters, and beavers nearby.A pair of loons nests each year on an island in front of our cabin and you can watch them as they swim in our protected cove, and listen to their calls all evening as you enjoy happy hour on the deck. Enjoy beautiful lake and mountain views from our cabin or relax in the hammock on the waterfront. Enjoy roasting marshmallows on our fire pit, use the large sandy association beach and dock a short walk away, quiet evening walks on the maintained dirt road. Lily Bay State Park is a short distance away.
What makes this Cabin unique
Our waterfront has a wonderful swimming area where children can safely play and parents can easily watch while they relax on the shore front. Other properties often have very large rocks and deep water immediately offshore which is not good for young children. Swim platform just offshore in deeper water allows relaxing, diving, and looking at the views of Big Moose (Squaw) Mountain and Burnt Jacket Mountain. Protected cove area is great for canoeing/ kayaking. With the direction the wind blows and being out on Black Point, we tend to have fewer insects as compared to other areas on Moosehead Lake. Convenient location, only 6 miles to town for restaurants and shopping. Located in one of Moosehead's most sought after communities.

Beautiful location, cozy cabin, friendly hosts!
This was a perfect spot to unwind and relax with our family, yet there was plenty to do in the area! Dan and Joyce were a wealth of information about the area and the wildlife! They made us feel right at home on arrival and explained everything we needed to know! They gave us some history of the cabin some of the unique handmade baskets and quilts gave the cabin a very cozy atmosphere. The property was clean and well supplied and the few steps to the gorgeous lake was the cherry on top! How we enjoyed exploring the edges, swimming and watching the clouds pass by! The erie call of the loons in the morning and evening was so thrilling. and seeing them was very exciting! and Dan and Joyec told us where to go to possably see moose! And we did! That was very exciting for all! We enjoyed an airplane ride overviewing the lake where we also saw moose! and we had fun shopping in the quaint shops in Greenville, and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast an Aunt Ems and lobster rolls at the dairy bar! They were our first lobster rolls! Yum! M y grandson just loved watching the chipmunks play and we enjoyed building campfires almost every evening! We can not say enough about the overall experience at Moosehead Lake and our time in this cozy, well maintained location and friendly host and hostess. We give this at10 star rating! Thank you Dan and Joyce for welcoming us so warmly and sharing your cabin with us!
Amazing, peaceful, comfortable, beautiful
We had an absolutely perfect vacation at Moosewood. It was peaceful, relaxing, and secluded, yet just a few minutes from the local town where we were able to enjoy local breakfast, and participate in local attractions there, to include shopping and taking a Seaplane tour around the lake. We spent our evenings driving on back-roads looking for moose, and ended up seeing three! The cabin is located right on the water where you have a fantastic view of Moosehead Lake. My son spent many hours in the lake water swimming, skipping rocks, and just hanging out. Our favorite thing to do was sit on the bench by the water and listen to the loons calling in the morning and in the evening. The scenery around Beaver Cove is absolutely stunning and breath-taking, particularly the sunsets! The owners are fantastic people and were extremely hospitable to our family. They make you feel right at home, and provided us with a lot of tips and ideas of where to hike, what to do, and things to see. The cabin itself is clean, decorated beautifully, and provided enough space for my family of 6 to sleep and live in comfortably for 7 days. Moosewood is highly recommended by our family!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Moosewood! It was the perfect getaway to step away from it all, but also be close enough to a small town. Various hikes are at your fingertips. Our boys played, and myself included, played endlessly on the floating dock. Long dirt road walks and the sounds of the loons at night add to this gem.
Absolutely Perfect Inside and Out
This is a true cabin on the water. It is very clean and has a private beach. Joyce and Dan are so welcoming and make sure we have everything we need. We love the location. It's about 20 minutes to the shops and restaurants in Greenville, but I bet once you arrive at Moosewood you won't want to leave. 😉 We rarely do. We spend our entire day on the beach swimming, kayaking, and watching the loons. This was our third year making memories here and we look forward to our fourth. You will not be disappointed.
A Little Piece of Heaven
What a wonderful place. We had never rented a place sight unseen. We were thrilled! The cabin was so clean and beautifully decorated in true cabin style. It has so much character and was furnished with everything we could need from linens to firewood. The owners welcomed us and then gave us full privacy for our entire stay. They are wonderful people and very accommodating . The cabin is in a great spot where we could float, kayak, and swim from sun up to sun down. It is located off of the main road so we could walk three to six miles every morning, to keep the vacation pounds off. 😉 The waterfront is crystal clear, shallow, and perfect for our grandchildren. They have a float in deeper water which we took advantage of to fish and watch the sunset. It is the perfect place to spend all day in the water then relax by the fire pit at night. We can't wait to go back!
Moosin' in Maine
This was by far my most favorite vacation! Moosewood cabin is a very quaint and beautiful cabin. Perfect for a week on the lake. It is decorated with a homemade touch and has a very homey feel. Not to mention, gorgeous geraniums on the porch! The location is perfect - very quiet and peaceful. Perfect spot for seeing deer and watching loons! We enjoyed time sitting by the lake, laying in the hammock, canoeing, and even tried paddleboarding for the first time. So much fun! Joyce and Dan were great hostesses and were available for all of our questions while we were there and were eager to help make our stay even more enjoyable than we could have imagined. They even pointed us in the direction to see moose! Overall, a wonderful vacation and wonderful place to stay. We would definitely love to go back! On a side note - we recommend renting canoes, paddleboards, and anything else you may need from Indian Hill Trading Post in Greenville. Very accomodatingI
Moosehead Lake has been named a top destination by Lonely Planet for 2013. It is a 35 mile long lake surrounded by northern forest. Kineo Mountain in the center of the lake is a wonderful short hike destination, made famous by Thoreau's travels in the late 1800's. A restored steamship, the Katahdin, provides daily trips up the lake. Crystal clear water is perfect for swimming and boating activities. Fine restaurants and family restaurants are a short drive away. The center of town has enjoyable shopping for Maine gifts, antiques, and clothing. Moose watching, listening to loons, wildlife photography are all relaxing activities when finished playing on the lake.
