Downtown Kyoto vacation rentals

This was a nice break from hotels, staying in a cute historic property that fit my entire family.

We had a wonderful stay at Gion Rokudo. The house had all its conveniences in a great location. We would definitely stay there again.

There is little to criticize about this kyomachiya on the western bank of the Kamo River in Shijo, central Kyoto. Its location is ideal for tourists with excellent proximity to attractions. Overall, almost all aspects are excellent. The rooms are larger than typical for Kyoto (two are eight mats).Tips for potential guests:- The 3 bedrooms are generously sized, comfortable for sleeping for 6 people or 3 couples. 2 bedrooms are larger than the 3rd. Space overall might feel tight for 5 or 6 adults socializing simultaneously - less of an issue if you're out sightseeing all day.- Ground floor bedroom works best if you store futons in the morning, otherwise you'll occupy the main shared space.- The second "living room" in the house center has less natural light but is the only shared space with Western-style furniture. This means ground floor "bedroom" is the best shared space.- Kitchen is small without stove/oven/toaster but has a good-sized refrigerator. Perfect for basic food prep and storage but limited for cooking meals.Unexpected positives:- Two bedrooms are surprisingly spacious - much larger than many other listings- Opening both front and back sliding doors creates refreshing airflow, especially valuable during warmer months- Despite central location, being set back from Kiyamachi-dori ensures quietness- Everything's been modernized: electrical, AC/heating, radiant floors, bath/water heatHighly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic Kyoto experience.

It was such a delight for our family of four to stay in your home while visiting Kyoto. The location and amenities were just perfect. We enjoyed recharging after garden and temple visits before walking to nearby restaurants for dinners. A big thank you!

Traveling with my wife and 25yo daughter. Location was great, bus, train and subway all close a quick walk to Nishiki market, konbinis within a couple minutes. Communication was great, no problems. Very happy, thanks!

Host was very accommodating and kind. Would highly recommend this spot. Easy access to the metro.

The house is beautifully renovated to both preserve the details of a traditional Kyoto townhouse --garden, ofuro, fusuma, tatami, etc--but equally modernized to make our family of 11 totally comfortable. Loved it

Location was great with easy access to both modern Kyoto and Gion. Hosts were professionals - despite a few hiccups in the booking (likely my own fault) they were easy to get in touch with and happy to help me resolve the issue! Would stay here again!
