After two weeks in standard hotel rooms, we decided to end our vacation with our 7- and 10-year old grandchildren at a place where we could spread out and do some home cooking. We had no problem getting into the unit, but were a bit dismayed to see a steep flight of stairs inside. Despite the fact that we are in our mid- to late-70's, we were able to carry everything up and then back down; but it was a chore. This unit is over 100 years old, and the heavy layers of wall paint and squeaky and slanting floors attest to this. Some people would say that it adds to its charm. The a/c worked well (a bit loud in the kitchen), the beds were comfortable, and the unit itself has been updated. One thing lacking was a table and chairs where we could sit to eat, but there was a desk in one of the bedrooms, and four chairs in total that we dragged out into the living room so we could eat together. We had planned to do some laundry, but the dryer is one of the ventless ones that takes forever for clothes to dry. We opted to wait until we got home so we could finish our laundry more quickly. All in all, this was not a bad place to stay. Beware that the parking is by permit on weekdays, but does not seem to be enforced. Opposite street side restrictions for cleaning on Wednesdays and Thursdays need to be followed.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Pros: The host has excellent communication, allowed an early check-in. The apartment was clean, but they used very strong room fresheners which gave me a headache. There were many updates in the apartment and the AC worked well.
Cons: I booked this location because it was ~10 minute walk to where I needed to visit however I did not feel safe walking in this area. There is a marijuana dispensary across the road, and a food kitchen on the other side, so there were often people hanging out on the sidewalk smoking. They were also yelling loudly and could easily be heard even with the windows closed. I ended up Ubering to everything.
The Uber drivers did say the area was safe, and frequently patrolled by police, but for me, it was uncomfortable. I was very comfortable walking just a couple blocks South of this space, just not there.
I would not stay at this location again but would try to find a better location with this host if available.
