|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
Enjoy your private ocean vista from the terrace of our 3 bedroom 4 bath beachfront villa, right "out front" on the water with a 180 degree view up and down the coast.
Calm Caye Villa is one of five villas located at Caye Villas, a beautifully landscaped beachfront property. The villa is tastefully decorated with our hand-picked collection of Belizean, Guatemalan and African objects and art. The first floor consists of three bedrooms and three in-suite bathrooms. The north bedroom has a fun outdoor shower that can be used for rinsing the salt water off or for showering outside among the plants. Each bedroom as well as the living area is individually air conditioned.
The second level has a large Great Room which includes a comfortable living area combined with a dining room and kitchen. The Great Room is decorated with original paintings, Guatemalen antiques, and African artifacts. The dining area easily accommodates 8 guests for dinner. There are spacious porches off of each floor and the terrace off the Great Room offers a sweeping 180 degree view up and down the coast with enough area for both a hammock and a sitting area. Relax, read, or have lunch while enjoying your oceanfront view.
When you don't feel like cooking you can take a five to ten minute beach walk to two of the island's finest restaurants - Mata Chica and Rojo/Azul Beach Bar. Add the convenience of Mata Grande Grocery directly behind the property, a market offering a wide array of provisions and an outdoor cafe serving lunch and breakfast. A cold beverage or a tasty lunch are 100 yards away.
Two sea kayaks are provided for your use during your stay. Housekeeping service is provided every other day of your stay. Caye Villas provides onsite caretakers as well as night security to make your stay more comfortable!
Calm Caye shares its beautifully landscaped grounds, a 20'x40' fresh water pool with a large stone-tiled lounging deck, an on-site caretaker and nighttime security with four other privately owned villas.
Our villa is nestled into the palms on this one-time coconut plantation 4.5 miles north of San Pedro. Close enough to be in easy striking distance of town but far enough away to provide seclusion, quiet and private relaxation. The road to town provides a diverse collection of restaurants from funky to elegant, yoga retreats, beach bars and coffee shops.
Lounge by the pool, paddle out in one of our kayaks to the longest reef in the hemisphere, or ask our management to arrange a snorkeling trip, a beach lunch, diving, fishing, yoga, massage or a trip to the mainland for a visit to Mayan ruins, cave tubing or zip line adventures. Whether you're a family looking for relaxing distractions for kids of all ages, couples chasing a break in the sun or single travelers seeking a once-in-a-lifetime Central American experience, Calm Caye provides the postcard-perfect spot. Be as active or as leisurely as you want to be, Calm Caye is the perfect place to call home.
Just stayed at this property on a trip to Belize and we stayed at Caye Caulker and then on Ambergis. Pictures don't do the villa justice and there were beautiful appointments throughout the house and David was very helpful.. We booked Coral Reef Divers the day before on his suggestion and were the only divers/snorkelers on the boat. Excellent location to the water ferry and everything about the villa was top notch. Grounds are beautiful and we felt very safe. The pool on the property was extremely clean and everything was well planned for arrival including taxi's back/forth to the water ferry. I would recommend this villa to anyone that is looking for an upscale worry free vacation and will definitely be back.
Calm Caye is a beautiful home with stunning views. The home is situated north of town in what feels like a secluded area. The little grocery store is very convenient in case you have forgotten anything from town. David and Sonja who live on site are extremely helpful with anything you might need from best places to shop & eat to who to call to arrange a fly fishing excursion. I do suggest arranging for a golf cart for use while there, especially if you like to run back and forth to town. It is also handy to have to explore the island. Calm Caye is truly one of the nicest homes on Ambergris Caye. We can't wait to return!
My wife and I (and multiple groups of friends) have been coming down to Ambergris Caye since 2007, and we have been lucky enough to stay at Calm Caye Villa about 10 out of the 12 trips. As all others have said, the house is very spacious and comfortable, and very well kept. The grounds are some of the most beautiful anywhere on the island, as David (caretaker) and his team have worked very hard with the owners to create a wonderfully tropical paradise. The location is perfect if you really want to feel like you are off the beaten path and in a private and secluded spot, but also be close enough to both town and some of the best bars/restaurants that are further north. With Mata Grande Grocery and Aurora's Grill (simple, but amazing local food) right behind the property; Sundiver Resort and Bar about 200 feet away; and Rojo Beach Bar & Grill (our favorite place, say hello to FIN for us!) and Mata Chica Resort/Bar about 5-10 minutes away by foot or cart - it's easy to keep your appetite and thirst under control with very little effort. And you'll be doing so with some of the best views of the sea and reef right in front of you.
The pool is amazing and always clean. The private guard is always there to keep an eye on things (we've never had a single concern or issue, but it's great to know someone is looking out for you). Brittany and Shane at Caye Mgmt are incredibly helpful and fun. The housekeepers are very friendly and keep everything looking great around the house. There isn't a single thing I can think of that isn't pretty perfect. Which is why we keep going back to Calm Caye Villa!
You can kayak out to the reef from the villa and see some amazing sea life while snorkeling. You can also easily book tours/day trips of any kind, and with Sundiver pier being one house away, your pick-up and drop-off is about as painless as it gets.
This place is heaven on earth, and the local neighborhood is made up of incredibly friendly people. You cannot go wrong if you stay at this house.
My husband, mother in law and I just got back from a weeklong trip to Ambergris and we loved the Calm Villa! Like the other reviewers mentioned, the house is spacious and comfortable. We especially loved the charming, international decorations--they made the home feel very personal, and less hotel-like.
David was fun to hang out with and a great caretaker. And Brittany and Chris did a great job getting us organized logistically.
Our trip was so much fun--we enjoyed a lot of snorkeling and some fishing with Genie at Coral Divers. One of our favorite days was a whole day fishing and snorkeling followed by catching some conch and having a beach bbq.
We also rented bikes, which were great for getting into town and to a beach on the other side of the island. Each afternoon we jumped in the pool and did a fair bit of lounging too. The pool felt like it was practically ours to own, as many of the other residents weren't home/rented out. Overall, we found a good mix of activity and relaxation, but there is definitely room to do more of one than the other, depending on the taste!
My husband and I stayed here with another couple and we had the best time! The house is gorgeous, spacious and equipped with everything we needed. The house was huge, which gave us plenty of privacy but also had great common spaces where we could hang out together - including a porch looking out over the ocean with a hammock! There is a caretaker (David) who lives in a separate building on site who is so kind and helpful. He came right over whenever we had questions and even let us borrow his cooler for a few days when we went out adventuring. Brittany who works at Belize Management was also incredibly helpful and was so responsive over email in advance of our trip. She helped us coordinate our arrival (we were picked up at the airport and taken to the house in a water taxi for free!) and all our activities while we were there.
The house is a great location - north of the city where it's most beautiful and less crowded but an easy golf cart ride into town, especially now that most of the road is paved. Plus, the house is located near to some incredible beaches and easy walking distance to some fantastic restaurants. There is a large pool on site too that has lounge chairs if you want a break from the salt water. Just like everything on the property, it is very well maintained and the area is beautifully landscaped!
We loved our week at Calm Caye and are already planning our return trip in 2016!
Thank you so much for opening your lovely home to us! My wife and I, and our two grown daughters and a son-in-law enjoyed it very much and had a wonderful time. The house is so well appointed and comfortable. I would highly recommend it to anyone truly looking to escape to paradise. It's location offers seclusion yet is within walking distance to great restaurants/resorts and only a short boat ride to San Pedro. This trip ranked very high with us and we are already talking about plans to return. Lastly, the arrangements/advice made by your Property Manager, Brittany, were so helpful and the on-site caretaker, David, really helped us and made the trip special. Thanks again
Calm Caye Villa is located 4.5 miles north of San Pedro Town in the Mata Grande area. The property sits beach front in a group of five villas that surround a large pool. Mata Grande Grocery is right behind the property and there are some great resorts within a short walk that have excellent restaurants and beach cocktails!
