About Bill Riggs
My wife and I and five girls really have enjoyed this home as it was a place that I grew up on and our girls have had the same opportunity to do so as well. They are outdoor enthusiasts and love spending time there. We currently live in Lindon Utah and try to get down to there as often as occasion will permit. We decided that since we can't be down there more often that we would open this home for others to enjoy and hope that your experience is one that you will never forget.
Bill Riggs purchased this House in 2008
Why Bill Riggs chose Hatch
This is a family home that my father built but unfortunately lost his battle to cancer before he was able to really enjoy it. Our family grew up on the land that this home sits on where formally there was an old deer hunters cabin that we built once stood. There have been many fond memories growing up here and we really enjoy how relaxing it is to come and stay and at the same time there are plenty of things to do. There is Hunting, fishing, ATV riding, hiking and seeing the sights such as Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks.
What makes this House unique
There is the national parks to visit, ATV trails to ride fishing down at the river and all kinds of wildlife to enjoy such as deer, elk and turkeys. It is away from the hustle and very peaceful and relaxing. The views are amazing including the pink cliffs to the east.
This did not work for us
We understood when we rented the house its location and how remote it was, although that was not our preference. We were expecting a house with great views sitting on a cliff. Not so much. It maybe that we were jaded after spending two weeks driving around the Southwest seeing spectacular scenery.
The back yard had cow dung all around it and you had to watch where you stepped. The master bedroom bed was so soft that the other couple had to sleep in separate beds since they kept sliding to the middle. I'm assuming the water is well water and it had a slight odor and taste. There was a filter in the kitchen that helped for drinking. Overall, the house was to personal and did not seem set up for rental. It felt like you were staying in the old family homestead. It maybe just us and that might not bother others, but it did not work for us. A little more updating, and taking out the personal memorabilia would have made a bid difference.
Not sure why they thought our house was on a cliff. Nothing we said would indicate such. However, there are fabulous views that 99% of our guests love and enjoy. The pink cliffs off in the distance are really something to behold. It's that one that can't be pleased and I guess this was the one. If the house was not their preference then maybe they should have stayed in a hotel where there is room service. Of course our home has that family feel. This was my dads home and the only personal item there is a portrait of him to honor him to all those that come to visit his lovely home. As far as the issues, unfortunately we have a gate that is required to keep closed and our previous guests left it open and cows got in on the yard. Our cleaning crew has taken care of that issue along with the water issue. My apologies for that. Not sure what they are talking about on the bed we have had no issue with that with the many guests that have stayed previously. Just take a look at all the previous reviews and it is very clear that our home not only is a place to stay but rather it is an experience to write home about. So many of them have said to me personally that they would love to spend more time just enjoying all our place has to offer.
We liked it! Hard to find, but owner sends tube video-follow it! The place was spacious and clean, everything we needed. Owner was so helpful when we needed to find a dentist.
We had a great time, easy access to Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park.
The house was scenic, the video aids in finding the property. We enjoyed our stay there, would stay again. We had an issue with our car and the owner helped us immensely. Thank Bill
Loved our stay at The Panoramic Retreat in Hatch.
5 of us stayed at The Panoramic Cliffs Retreat and it definitely provided all the comforts necessary. The road to the property from Hatch is a little rough in places but when your neighbors are open range cattle, wild turkeys and jack rabbits it is worth it.
The location is ideal for visiting Zion, Bryce and Cedar Breaks. We may have been able to make it to Grand Staircase but opted instead to visit the other 3 twice which I highly recommend.
The fishing at Panguitch Lake was good. Recommend you rent a boat at Rocky Point.
While the house has no WiFi per se we were able to utilize it at our favorite restaurant in Hatch which was the Adobe Cafe.
Their sandwiches were over the top and their french fries were some of the best we have ever eaten. No need to go all the way in to Panguitch for a good meal.
Be aware most places in the area are closed on Sunday but the Flyin M in Panguitch is open. Their breakfast was very good.
Would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet, secluded get away. And by the way the massage chair was a big hit.
Found the owner, Bill, to be very accommodating and responsive.
amazing place, just hard to get to in night
we lived here for 2 nights, it was really good. the owner pays minute attention to details, it felt almost like living at our own place, they had everything there, utensils, paper towels, washing detergent, etc. the house is spacious with good view from the dining table and otherwise too.
At first I was somewhat reluctant to stay outside a main area but after our visit there my two sons and I knew we had an exceptional experience. Driving in we had to avoid the deer and wild turkeys. The home was immaculate and well stocked with all we needed to add to the steaks and chicken we purchased. There was plenty of hot water for our showers at the end of the day's hiking. The location worked so well for Bryce, Zion and Escalante. In fact we won lotto tickets to hike The Wave. The bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms new. I would recommend this home to any that asked.
This home is located between two national parks, Bryce Canyon which is only 35 minutes away and Zions which is 50 minutes away. There is also Cedar Breaks and Brian Head ski resort. There places to go fishing such as the Sevier river which is just below our property and Panguitch Lake to name a few. This is a great place for relaxation while you travel and a great place to hold your next family reunion.
