About Bill Riggs
My wife and I and five girls really have enjoyed this home as it was a place that I grew up on and our girls have had the same opportunity to do so as well. They are outdoor enthusiasts and love spending time there. We currently live in Lindon Utah and try to get down to there as often as occasion will permit. We decided that since we can't be down there more often that we would open this home for others to enjoy and hope that your experience is one that you will never forget.
Bill Riggs purchased this House in 2008
Why Bill Riggs chose Hatch
This is a family home that my father built but unfortunately lost his battle to cancer before he was able to really enjoy it. Our family grew up on the land that this home sits on where formally there was an old deer hunters cabin that we built once stood. There have been many fond memories growing up here and we really enjoy how relaxing it is to come and stay and at the same time there are plenty of things to do. There is Hunting, fishing, ATV riding, hiking and seeing the sights such as Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks.
What makes this House unique
There is the national parks to visit, ATV trails to ride fishing down at the river and all kinds of wildlife to enjoy such as deer, elk and turkeys. It is away from the hustle and very peaceful and relaxing. The views are amazing including the pink cliffs to the east.

amazing place, just hard to get to in night
we lived here for 2 nights, it was really good. the owner pays minute attention to details, it felt almost like living at our own place, they had everything there, utensils, paper towels, washing detergent, etc. the house is spacious with good view from the dining table and otherwise too.
At first I was somewhat reluctant to stay outside a main area but after our visit there my two sons and I knew we had an exceptional experience. Driving in we had to avoid the deer and wild turkeys. The home was immaculate and well stocked with all we needed to add to the steaks and chicken we purchased. There was plenty of hot water for our showers at the end of the day's hiking. The location worked so well for Bryce, Zion and Escalante. In fact we won lotto tickets to hike The Wave. The bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms new. I would recommend this home to any that asked.
Perfect location. Very Quiet.
Clean and nicely stocked. Enjoyed our stay. Very secluded and quiet.
Off the beaten path and very comfortable
The property is only a 7 minute drive from the main artery through Hatch, but you'll feel like you're in the back country. The house has a very comfortable layout with a master bedroom and bath, two more bedrooms share a bathroom, and another room has some beds. The kitchen is well appointed, and the living room has a big screen TV and comfy couches. There is also a washer/dryer. One minor thing, very low water pressure in the kitchen sink. The owner was very responsive and sent a video with directions as GPS will not get you there. Watch the video with directions that the owner sends and take notes. It could be dicey finding it at night as you're traveling on dirt roads through some horse farms with a few crisscrossing roads that could lead you astray. One part of the drive goes past a No Trespassing sign--ignore it! There's not much in Hatch as far as food, and the closest grocery is in Panguitch about 12 miles up the road so be prepared. We did love the Outlaw Saloon which is on the main road near the turnoff for the property. You cook your own steak on a communal grill and it was a lot of fun. The owner was very responsive when we had questions. It's about a 45 minute drive to Bryce Canyon and a must see if you have time (take the Queens Garden Trail if you have limited time and need to pick one Trail).
Thank you for such a detailed review and as far as the pressure in the kitchen sink please note that if the water filter is turned on then the pressure is low but when off the pressure is just fine. The switch is on the faucet and easy to switch back and forth. We provide the filter for our guests for drinking water. Our guests usually have no trouble finding our home if they watch the video. We recently had a guest who commented that the video was a brilliant idea as they travel this way all the time and it would have been nice to have a video like the one we provide.
Great place in Hatch
This home is a great place to stay if you are visiting Bryce and Zion. We enjoyed exploring the land, seeing the deer in the meadow, and watching the beautiful sunsets and the reflection off the pink cliffs. We also visited Red Rock Canyon which is only a few miles away. The house is roomy with a washer and dryer. More food storage containers and new frying pans would help in the kitchen since we cooked our meals and packed our lunches for the week that we were there. We liked being away from it all and glad that it is pet friendly!
Was ok, could of been better though
It was an ok stay, could of been better had there been internet, there were hardly any paper towels to use, and toilet papers were just one roll in each bathroom, couldn't find any extra, we have to provide our own so far from store, can even find a cutting board, we had to use alternative. I don't like the fact that I paid fir cleaning service but I must required to pull all sheets from bed and put in laundry room this should be the cleaning services..watch out when you pull drawers to get utensils, knives were all mixed together can cut yourself, this needs to be better organized..thank you!!
I find it interesting that for the last 4 years of renting our home out and almost every review we received has been positive every once in a while you get a bad one. If the customer would have read the services available before they rented, they would have seen that we do not offer wifi as a result of our rural location. However, a hot spot on the cell phone works great out there which I explained to them when they asked about wifi. It really isn't to much to ask that you put the used linens into the laundry room and this is the first time I have had a complaint. Maybe this group should have rented a hotel. What you don't get at a hotel that you get here is the piece and quite, the views and the beautiful nights with the amazing stars. As far as the other concerns we have always had a cutting board. It turned up missing and we replaced it. We always provide plenty of toilet paper and a roll of paper towels. We have a drawer with knives for guests use and have yet have anyone get cut as this guest indicated. Please be sure and look at other reviews and you can quickly see this guest was being a bit nit picky.
This home is located between two national parks, Bryce Canyon which is only 35 minutes away and Zions which is 50 minutes away. There is also Cedar Breaks and Brian Head ski resort. There places to go fishing such as the Sevier river which is just below our property and Panguitch Lake to name a few. This is a great place for relaxation while you travel and a great place to hold your next family reunion.
