Outdoor Enthusiasts, Nature Lovers, and those Seeking Solitude...

Just 31 minutes west of St. Ignace (Mackinaw)you will turn down the winding drive, and experience the quiet calm of Michigan's North Country at its finest. This gem, up one flight of stairs, is secluded, private, and spacious. Nestled in the trees on 3+ acres with over 250'+ of private beach on the sparkling North Shore of Lake Michigan.

National and State Forests to the East provide a thriving habitat for Bald Eagles, Sand Hill Cranes, and Deer which wander past your window as you take in the spectacular view of the lake. Settle in for the evening by a cozy fire and listen to the the gentle sounds of Lake Michigan lapping at the shore, but don't fall asleep until you've taken in the stars through the six sky lights above.

Within an hours drive, you can visit lighthouses, waterfalls, and historic forts. Sault St Marie (Soo Locks), Mackinaw City (shopping, theaters, fort, and new water park), St. Ignace (gambling, shopping, and museums),Mackinac Island, Lake Superior (Whitefish Point Lighthouse, Tahquamenon Falls, one hour North) are highlights that will make your trip memorable. One of the best kept secrets is the Cut River located just minutes from our property. This natural gorge provides a wonderful hike as well as picturesque view of the lake.

Meander down the back country roads and perhaps you will catch a glimpse of Bear, Moose, Wolf, Deer, Bald Eagles, and many smaller critters. There are miles of trails to explore by foot, horseback snowmobile, or four-wheel ATV. If fishing interests you, fly-fish some of the finest steelhead and brook trout streams anywhere (we support 'catch-and-release'... or 'clean-on-the-river'...).

Just four miles to the east are two restaurants and to the west enjoy the small fishing village of Naubinway where fresh Whitefish is caught/sold daily. If you've not experienced, the world famous 'U.P. Pastie', stop by any of the roadside shops who advertise... You are sure to fall in love with this Northern Michigan novelty. Groceries, gas, and antique shops are readily available within a short drive.

Winter enthusiasts can enjoy snowmobiling out the door to state land or along the lakeshore to Hog Island Road and trails everywhere even to the Wisconsin border. Snowshoes are available for up to four people.

We look forward to welcoming you to our unique experience, and trust that you will come back to visit us year after year.

We appreciate your support of our clean environment by not smoking in the apartment.

Perfect, private and breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Cedar Loft 9/9/16-9/12/16 to celebrate our anniversary. It was perfect. Clean, roomy, pretty and great location. We saw the stars through the sky lights nightly and the moon over Lake Michigan shined through the window in a breathtaking way. The private beautiful beach left us in awe. The sand was so soft, we spent each morning and night walking or sitting & admiring Lake Michigan and it never got old. We saw 2 huge eagles soaring the first morning we were there...just amazing.

The owners were absolutely a delight, kind and knowledgeable. We adored them. We didn't see them very much only on check in & check out actually but they left a lasting impression. We loved everything about the cedar loft and we will definitely go back.

While we were there we went to Pictured Rocks, Tahquamenon Falls, & Sioux locks, all within a reasonable commute. .which by the way was beautiful.

Can not wait to return.

Cedar Loft is the ideal place to stay when you want to completely relax in a beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

This was the fourth time my husband and I have stayed at Cedar Loft. We absolutely love going there, especially when we just want to relax and spend time together. It is so incredible to be able to walk out of the Cedar Loft just steps away from a private piece of Lake Michigan. It is so quiet and the beach area is perfect for reading, napping, swimming and just enjoying the view. There is an extended shallow area, which is perfect for kids. The apartment itself is everything you want in a vacation place. It's clean and comfortable. There are lots of skylights and you can hear the water from the bed. Dianne and Glen couldn't be friendlier and will do anything to help make your stay enjoyable. They have lived in the area a long time and can generously give any advice you need for things to do. We will most definitely go back again!

Lovely place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful few days at the Cedar Loft. Diane was helpful and generous every step of the way. Due to the time of year and weather, we spent most of our time curled up by the wood burning stove, appreciating the beautiful lake view from inside, and cooking.

We briefly visited Tahquamenon Falls. The river and falls are quite the sight, and we had the place to ourselves because of the offseason. However the brewery closes for a few weeks in the fall, so we are planning to return this summer when it's open and to do the hike between the lower and upper falls.

Best of all, it was our three-month-old daughter's first trip and she started sleeping through the night there. I think it was from listening to the peaceful sound of the waves crashing on the beach!

If you're looking to rent a place that's great for any season, super nice and affordable, and has owners who are wonderful to work with, Cedar Loft is it!

Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent a week at Cedar Loft and it was perfect! The sandy beach and clear water were very inviting, the sounde of the waves hitting the beach and the fresh cool lake air blowing through the windows was magnificent and made for a wonderful sleep.

Our hosts Diane and Glen provided everything you could possible need including a welcome gift of fresh baked bread and fresh eggs. The loft lacks for nothing and as other guests indicated, the photos do not give it the full credit it deserves. You need to visit to appreciate it.

The peace aand quiet the beautiful landscapes overlooking Lake Michigan make this a perfect place to vacation.
