9.8Exceptional124 reviewsAfter a year of isolation, it might seem strange that we were looking for a place just to get away from the hubbub, but that's what we were after and that's exactly what we got--a quiet and relaxing getaway.
The house is as lovely as the pictures with plenty of space and has just about everything you could need. (I will say that the collection of cookware is a bit eclectic, so if there's something specific you need for cooking, double-check before arriving or bring it with you, and if you prefer to unpack rather than live out of a suitcase, you might need more hangers.) It's also in a very quiet area, which is really nice for a getaway. There wasn't much boat traffic in that area, we only saw one neighbor on the lakefront, and only a few people anywhere in the neighborhood as we were out and about. Perfect.
The only other thing I'd point out, in case it's important to you, is that the internet in the area is not fiber optic and can apparently be iffy sometimes. We knew this in advance so adjusted travel dates slightly so we wouldn't absolutely need a solid connection for work purposes, and I'm glad we did. The first day or so, the weather was stormy and the connection was very intermittent. And television access is entirely streaming, so without the internet, there's also no TV. But, once the weather moved out, the connection was totally fine. Also, though our phones (ATT) seemed to work fine the entire week we were there, when we got out of the area a bit, a bunch of older text messages were delivered. Obviously, there's nothing the owners can do about this sort of thing, but if you're someone who absolutely must stay entirely within reach at all times, you might want to check with your provider about service in the area.
But, I point out these minor details only for a fuller picture of the environment because I know not everyone is looking for the same thing. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at his house, and it gave us exactly what we needed from our vacation. The open kitchen/living area let everyone stay involved in the conversation (or TV show) even when meals were being prepared, all the windows throughout the house gave wonderful views of the lake, the patio was fantastic, with lots of different seating areas to enjoy the outdoors, and the patio table was a great place for a peaceful dinner, especially on nights we grilled out.
If you're looking for a place to enjoy a relaxing getaway on the water, you won't be disappointed here.
