Cabin get-away in the Unaweep Canyon
Located in the gorgeous Unaweep Canyon, approximately 40 miles southwest of Grand Junction, CO, and 12 miles northeast of Gateway, CO, this cabin boasts dark skies, beautiful views, and nearly 30 acres to roam and explore. No streetlights limit your enjoyment of the night sky. Relax and enjoy peace in nature. A large, covered porch provides a protected outside area to enjoy the view. The surrounding area is mostly wild and home to various wildlife including: deer, elk, turkey, coyotes, waterfowl, the occasional bear or mountain lion, and other smaller wildlife such as squirrels, raccoons, skunks, etc. Cabin includes two bedrooms: one with a queen, and one with double and twin sized beds. There is also a sofa bed in the living room. There is plenty of room for a group. Games, books, and puzzles are provided for inside fun. Wi-Fi provided, bring your own devices for your entertainment needs, there is no TV. There is a perennial creek, West Creek, approximately 200 feet south of the cabin. Riparian habitat to the south and east. There is no maintained yard. Property is part of a working ranch. In the fall, spring, and winter you can expect a few cattle grazing around the property at times. We are located at an elevation of 6,300'. Summertime typically has cool nights and warm days. Wintertime temperatures can be cooler than in Grand Junction and Gateway. Snow depths vary depending on the winter but 1-2' of snow is not unusual in January. Access to the property is through a shared driveway with the host. The driveway and access road to the cabin are improved but not paved. We do not allow pets. They just don't mix well with the cattle and local wildlife. The nearest grocery store is in Grand Junction, the nearest (seasonal) restaurant in Gateway. Add to your relaxation by booking a massage to come to you through High Desert Massage, message for more details. No air conditioning is provided in the cabin. While summer days can get hot, nights generally cool down at this elevation. Windows can be opened at night to cool the interior of the cabin.
