This cottage is family owned, a dream of ours since childhood. Raised in Cleveland, one of us still resides there and the other in Newport, KY with our families. Our childhood summers always included a week, or even 2, renting a cottage along this area of Lake Erie. Those memories are still among our most precious. For a family of 13 in the 1960's, traveling 60 miles to a cottage was a cross country adventure. We even rented the cottage next to this at one time.
Ellen Brennan-Humbert purchased this house in 2006
We fell in love with this property because of it's location and charming bungalow appeal. The first floor has 20 windows, filling the space with sunlight and lovely views of the surrounding community. It is perfect for family gatherings, and located conveniently between the Lake Erie coastal towns of Vermillion and Huron. The sandy beach is deep and well maintained. Every sunset is unique, but always spectacular.
This house is well suited for multiple generation gatherings or several families, having an open first floor plan with multiple seating areas, a full basement, 3.5 baths, 2 kitchens, and a large private deck space. Up to 6 vehicles can be parked on the drive and lot.
Our two families came together to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. We had friends join us on the weekend and had plenty of space and then some for everyone. The house was ideal for gatherings and had all the comforts of home. We spent a day at cedar point but otherwise enjoyed the house and the beach. We would definitely return!
We stayed here with two other families (6 adults, 2 young adults and 4 children). The home is laid out really nicely and we had plenty of space. Open floor plan on first floor is very comfortable for meals and sitting and catching up. Neighbors were friendly and helpful, and view down by the lake beautiful at sunset. Owners were available and helpful with questions. We will rent again if going back to the area!
Our extended family of 6 adults and 5 kids really enjoyed the house which was equipped with virtually everything we needed. The beach (just a short walk) was wonderful and in a park like setting. Just sitting on a bench and watching the water was great. We also used the tennis courts about a block away. It's a small beach/vacation community with friendly neighbors, small streets, and no through traffic. One family member remarked that this goes on the list for a return visit.
This is a beautiful home in a nice neighborhood. Beautiful view from the beach.
Five of us stayed here for a weekend. We were able to have a retreat away from our busy home lives. Walking the beach even in winter was wonderful. We visited a local winery and the shops in Vermillion. The cottage is extremely comfortable including the beds and couch. The kitchen was well stocked with every utensil we needed. Having two refrigerators can be so handy when large crowds gather. The location couldn't have been better for us, only 30 minutes from Cleveland. We felt like we were on an island retreat. I recommend you give this property a try.
Cedar Point is famous for multiple roller coasters with a beautiful lake view from the rides. Historic hotel and large beach accessible. Voted 'best amusement park in the world' for 15 years running. Quaint village with unique shopping nearby.
Local wineries abound. The North Coast is a Bird- watching haven. Whether your interest is migratory birds or birds of prey, there is something for every nature lover. Unlimited family entertainment found on the coast and on the surrounding islands.
