Comfortably Furnished Antiques/modern 4BR, 2BA, 2 Fireplaces Sleeps 8-10
Recline in the glow of the fire, choose the luxury leather reclining sofa in the living room or the canopy bed inthe Master. In this historic* country refuge, brand new to VRBO, feel your tension ease whether inside or if you're drawn outside, to soak in the hot tub, watch the stars against the alpine glow on Mt. Hood or Mt. Adams. Venture beyond the immediate 3/4 fenced acre, 20 minutes to Mt. hood Meadows, 12 to Hood River, windsurfing or ?, or if weather permits, snow-shoe/crosscountry out the door. Inside, enjoy the cozy feel of a true early 20th century craftsman farmhouse, catch a different grove or peak from each of the 4 bedrooms original windows, luxuriate on the heated terra cotta kitchen floor as you pull up a stool for coffee and a long gaze at Mt. Hood.
Spring brings pear/apple blossoms all around as you imagine yourself in a sea of popcorn from the coziness of the canopy bed, or overlooking the puffs against the lingering snows of Adama. Later in the season, pick cherries, raspberries, and other fruit right in your own garden.
Wild life may be as close as the walks 2 'blocks' away with deer and the rare sighting of bear, martens, cougar, and fox - or a duck or albino peacock may surprise you right in front of the house. They like the pond and the miniature koi too!
Currently, the sauna is being refurbished, but by spring, the lawns and gardens will draw you outside to barbecue, sit and enjoy mountain views and scents of flowers, or hot tub and sweat. Meanwhile, pick a BlueRay or Netflix or Amazon Instant Prime or music or head to Parkdale (5minutes) for music, beer, and barbecue, or down to Hood River for a variety of activities.
A special place, the century-old grove outside the French doors of the Master, and fire ring from long-ago stage trails draws one in a calm, reflective, nurturing embrace with nature.

About Dolores Maggiore
The Dee home has been my refuge since 1994 when I relocated to Hood River. Coming from the suburbs of New York, I was smitten with the beauty of this area and had to pinch myself everyday driving back from work in Hood River to Dee (12 minutes of ecstasy) to believe my good fortune and to insure that Mt. Hood looming up as I rounded a bend was truly real and not a mirage.
Dolores Maggiore purchased this Farmhouse in 1994
Why Dolores Maggiore chose Hood River County
The property has always provided the buffer from too much activity, whether city activity(Hood River) or sporting activity(Mt Hood Meadows/Government Camp). And yet, hiking, snow-shoeing, cross country skiing is right at the doorstep.Good food and drink and entertainmentmcan be found 5 minutes away without sacrificing the calm and meditative serenity that my home and my property inspire.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Not being a morning (or late night) person, I am brought to life each morning (weather permitting) as I feast my eyes on the view of Mt Hood from the kitchen, especially when the magnolia or the Hawthorn are in bloom. At night, the stars and the alpine glow on Mt Hood and Mt Adams delight me. Over the years, I have made it a practice to sleep in every room for the unique feel and view each offers. For example, last summer, the upstairs 'Adams' room offered spectacular lightning and thunder storms over the Washington Cascades.

Cute Farm House
The home was full of character however it could have been cleaner. The hot tub was a nice surprise as it is hard plastic not actually inflatable.
Great view of Mount Hood from the house
We had a wonderful time. All the accommodations exceeded expectations! Thank you!
Great! Glad you enjoyed yourselves!
Charming, rustic, and perfect for a winter get-away
We stayed at this property over New Year's Eve weekend 2017 and used this as our base for activities in the area - which included dinner trips into Hood River and three beautiful days of skiing at Mt. Hood Meadows. All in all, we had four adults, five teenage boys, two dogs, and the amenities were more than sufficient for us all. Highly recommend.
Amazing getaway in the hills of Oregon
Lovely farmhouse nestled in the Oregon low mountains outside of Hood River. Rustic setting makes for an enjoyable escape of the cities with lush landscaping surrounding the property which is then flanked by farmland. Very accommodating for larger groups that want to make use of ample outdoor seating and relaxation.
Great cozy location, beautiful yard
There aren't many houses to rent in Dee, which is where my sister lives, so we were thrilled to find this location hidden amongst the farms and nearby the lovely Lost Lake, which we visited on our way out. We were traveling with friends with small children and they really appreciated the toys in the house. The train and lego were a big hit with the little ones. We honestly spent most of our time in the gorgeous shaded yard and patio. The hot tub was a major plus for unwinding at the end of the day after the kids were in bed. The one little suggestion a friend had shared was that the bed frame in one of the upstairs rooms did not quite fit the bed and it moved a bit when they slept. We were very happy to have air conditioning as Oregon was experiencing a heat wave when we arrived. It was a great stay, thanks!
Hood River area offers a myriad of diverse activities from extreme sports(mountain climbing/ windsurfing)to fine dining, wine and micro brew sampling, music to suit all tastes, museums, art, artisans, outstanding native cultural sites and natural wilderness settings viewable by foot or drives.
