About this property

Spacious Upscale 4 bedroom 2,750 sq ft home in Highland Sq, of Akron

Consider this house your home away from home while you visit Akron. This house was built in 1908 with amenities and built ins that you usually don’t find in homes today. The improvements that were done kept the theme of the house in mind. The major improvements were a main bath that was more than triple the size of the original one, french doors where there was once a wall that lead to a deck and brick patio, a remodeled third floor large bedroom suite, a kitchen that can be mistaken for being original in the house but the granite countertop, Jenn-aire etc might tell you it’s been updated. Lighting fixtures are either actual period lights or ones that fit the period. A couple whimsical chandeliers were added in. Front perennial garden with flagstone area and an apron brick parking area, With four comfortable bedrooms.
The King bedroom is a very large new room with desk.
Another bedroom has Queen bed ,desk, I-MAC computer with color printer, & built ins. The 4 poster queen bedroom has a wing back chair One bedroom has a Queen bed two closets and an adjacent room with a makeup desk with a mirror, also concave makeup mirror with light. and there is a twin Sleigh bed. There is a library and a side room that offers some privacy if you want it.
2 & 1/2 bathrooms, both have independent custom tile showers with Benches and the main bathroom on 2nd floor has spacious area with chair & stool Water supplied by a large Navien tankless water heater where you can run many faucets and showers at the same time and never run out of hot water. Both Showers have bench’s you can sit on if you wish, one with a hand wand and high shower head.
The kitchen has a new refrigerator with ice in a bin and dispensed from the door, new sink, Jenn-aire range, an older microwave.
The french doors lead to a deck made of Brazilian Ipea wood with a pergola above it with a large brick patio off that. Two wood benches with backs and a Blackstone 36" flat propane griddle. Whether you’re unwinding or gathering We'll be available to answer any questions while you stay at our place.
What I love about this place is you can have 9 people in this house and they can be sitting in 9 different comfortable rooms not including the bathrooms, kitchen, and basement.

We came up and stayed for a family event in Akron. We had a group of eight people ranging from mid 20s to mid 50s. It was a great location and was easily accessible to Highland Square. The home was absolutely lovely. If you are interested in Akron or Northeast Ohio history there are multiple books available to read in the “Library room“. It is an old home so there are some quirks about it. There is only a very small bathroom on the first floor. The entire place has multiple closets, nooks, and crannies. The lighting was a little bit dark. There are multiple levels on the first floor, which can lead one to trip from time to time. Would be careful with those who have mobility challenges. The second floor rooms are uniquely decorated, and have ample closet space. The bathroom on the second floor is huge! The 3rd Floor was recently renovated and has its own master bedroom and full bathroom. The hosts were great and very responsive. The check-in and checkout process was smooth and I would definitely stay here again.

I am a life long Akron resident, with a love of the area, I am putting my House out for short term rental for the first time this month. I love to entertain and this will be a form of that.

Why they chose this property

As a child I would walk from our house at 1515 Jefferson, a mile west of Highland Square to catch the Saturday matinee at the Highland Theater which consisted of a comedy short such as the Three Stooges or the little Rascals then 3 cartoons, then the main feature, great fun. Fast forward a few or more decades and I still walk over to the Highland Square shop area.
The theater is still there showing first run movies but now also you have a high end grocery store, several restaurants, Angel Falls coffee shop, a couple banks, library etc. still great fun.

What makes this property unique

The house is somewhat different but very functional in many ways.
A large out side deck & patio that flows from the house through french doors for cookouts & gatherings.
A library of several books on Akron past and present.
It’s people and industry.
The house was built in 1908 with lath and plaster walls so the rooms are more quiet than newer homes.
From sliding pocket doors, to upholstered benches on the stair landings to the architectual niches and built ins.
