About this property

9-Seat Hot Tub | Walkable | Historic | Downtown

Welcome to the Garden Wing at The Knickerbocker, a private, approximately 1,500 sq ft 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom guest wing occupying the entire bottom floor of a historic Tampa property in the heart of Hyde Park.

The Garden Wing was designed for travelers who want real space, separate bedrooms, and a shared living area, instead of being split across multiple hotel rooms or cramming a group into a single suite. Comfortably sleeping 9, with a maximum occupancy of 13, it works well for families, business travelers, convention groups, medical stay companions, and friends gathering for a concert or sports weekend downtown. A refundable $750 card authorization hold based security deposit is required before arrival.

Each bedroom has its own character. The Premier Suite (approx. 270 sq ft) is the most premium room in the wing, with a king bed, a private en-suite bathroom, a 75" TV, and a 5.1 Q800 soundbar with rear speakers.

The Ember Room (approx. 220 sq ft) features a Wyoming king-size Murphy bed (two twin XL beds joined), a fireplace, a 75" TV, and a 5.1 Q800 soundbar, for a cozy retreat and an excellent second bedroom for another couple or pair.

The Watersong Room (approx. 180 sq ft) sleeps up to three with a queen Murphy bed and a twin XL Murphy bed, plus a 92" 4K projector setup and a 5.1 Q800 soundbar, ideal for guests who want a dedicated media setup for movie nights or game-day viewing.

The Oakview Room (approx. 150 sq ft) is the wing's quiet room, with a queen Murphy bed, a 65" TV, and a 5.1 Q800 soundbar — and with the Murphy bed folded up, the floor opens into a workspace or kids' room.

All four bedrooms include a frontlit makeup mirror, a full-length mirror, and an iron and ironing board, with 11-foot ceilings in most rooms and heritage-grade crown molding throughout.

The shared living room doubles as a home theater, with an 82" projector screen, a 4K projector, and a 7.1 Sony Bravia surround sound system, ideal for movie nights, sports, or watching the game as a group.

For groups that need dining or meeting space rather than a fourth sleeping room, the Ember, Watersong, or Oakview room can be configured before arrival as a dining or meeting setup (Watersong recommended), using folding chairs stored on-site.

Outside, guests have access to The Gardens, approximately 800 sq ft of outdoor living space, private to your group during your stay, featuring a 9-seat Bullfrog A9L hot tub, sized to match the Garden Wing's 9-guest comfortable capacity, a feature rarely found at this size in a Tampa rental, along with a rock garden, a 6-burner stainless Monument grill with backlit controls, a custom-built water fountain, a propane fire pit (for warmth only, no cooking or burning items on it), and an outdoor shower with warm water for rinsing off before and after hot tub use. A shared front porch with benches, chairs, and a swing offers another spot to unwind. Hot tub use is governed by posted house rules: no glass, food, drinks, or other additives in or around the hot tub, no rough play, children must be supervised at all times, and the cover must be closed after each use.

The kitchen includes a Waterdrop X12 reverse osmosis water system and dispenser, a garbage disposal, standard cookware and accessories, and a basic stock of spices, seasonings, and small appliances.

Throughout the wing, central air conditioning and heat keep the space comfortable year-round. Internet is 7.5 Gbps symmetrical fiber with Eero Max 7 mesh Wi-Fi (wireless only, no wired connections; device speeds depend on Wi-Fi), with capacity to spare for group streaming, video calls, and remote work. Laundry is included, with three washers and three dryers on-site, shared with the property's housekeeping operations. Parking is free, with two tandem off-street spaces and free on-street parking nearby.

The location puts Downtown Tampa, Benchmark International Arena, the Tampa Convention Center, the Riverwalk, Bayshore Boulevard, the University of Tampa, Water Street, Sparkman Wharf, Tampa General Hospital, and Ybor City all within easy reach, many within a 6-to-16-minute walk and several just a 2-to-4-minute drive, making the Garden Wing a strong base for conventions, concerts, sporting events, hospital stays, university visits, or simply exploring downtown Tampa.

Please note: this is a private residence, not a venue. No parties, no smoking, and no pets are permitted, and only registered guests may stay or visit. Standard reservations do not include events, gatherings, or commercial use; any such request requires separate written approval and terms. For guest safety, exterior security cameras are located at the shared entry foyer, front door, and side entrances; there are no cameras in any interior living spaces, bedrooms, or bathrooms.

This home is not childproofed. A Pack 'n Play is available by request, but baby gates, outlet covers, cabinet locks, and similar equipment are not included. Guests traveling with children or infants should plan accordingly.

We look forward to hosting you at the Garden Wing.

Host profile image
The Garden Wing at The Knickerbocker is hosted by Marcus and managed under Knickerbocker Stays, a small, hands-on hospitality operation focused on a handful of well-maintained properties in Tampa's Hyde Park and downtown corridor rather than a large portfolio spread thin. Our approach is straightforward: clean, well-equipped homes; clear pre-arrival communication; smart-lock access so check-in is simple and self-service; and practical, written instructions for everything from Wi-Fi to trash pickup to hot tub use, so guests are not left guessing. We respond to messages promptly and aim to resolve any issue during a stay quickly rather than after the fact. We also take property care and house rules seriously, both to protect the home and to keep the experience consistent and comfortable for every guest who stays after you. That means reasonable, clearly stated expectations around occupancy, noise, smoking, pets, and visitors, communicated up front rather than as a surprise. We're continually refining the property based on guest feedback, from small comfort details in each bedroom to how information is organized in the guest guidebook. If something in your stay isn't right, we want to know about it so we can fix it. Whether you're in town for a weekend at Benchmark International Arena, a multi-day convention, a hospital stay near Tampa General, a University of Tampa visit, or simply a downtown Tampa getaway with family or friends, our goal is the same: a comfortable, well-run home base that lets you focus on why you're in Tampa, not on logistics.

Why they chose this property

A private 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom guest wing this close to downtown Tampa is genuinely uncommon. Most comparable group space in this part of the city is either a string of separate hotel rooms or a much smaller condo that can't comfortably sleep a full family or travel group together. The Garden Wing solves that. It occupies the entire bottom floor of a historic Tampa property in Hyde Park, giving guests approximately 1,500 sq ft with four real bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and shared living space, all under one roof, with access to The Gardens, including a 9-seat Bullfrog hot tub sized to match the property's 9-guest comfortable capacity, under posted house rules. Location is the other half of the story. From the Garden Wing, the Tampa Convention Center is a 10-minute walk, Benchmark International Arena 16, the Riverwalk 9, Bayshore Boulevard 6, and the University of Tampa 8, with Hyde Park's restaurants and shops, Water Street, and Sparkman Wharf also reachable on foot. Tampa General Hospital is a 13-minute walk, and Ybor City a quick trip on the free TECO trolley. Few group-sized properties combine this much interior space with this level of access to downtown Tampa's business, medical, sports, and entertainment districts. This combination makes the Garden Wing a practical choice for a wide range of trips: a family in town for a University of Tampa event, a group of business travelers attending meetings downtown without needing two or three hotel rooms, a convention group that wants to gather in the evenings, friends in town for a concert at Benchmark International Arena or a Riverwalk weekend, or family supporting someone receiving care at Tampa General. It's a historic property with boutique-style hospitality behind it, professionally managed, with smart-lock access and clear house rules, built for groups who want space, privacy, and a genuinely central Tampa location, without the compromises of splitting up across multiple hotel rooms.

What makes this property unique

The Garden Wing offers a combination that's hard to find elsewhere in Tampa: real separation and space for a group, paired with a genuinely central downtown location. Compared to booking multiple hotel rooms, the Garden Wing keeps your group together under one roof, in four private bedrooms with three full bathrooms and shared living space, instead of scattering people across separate floors or buildings. There's no need to coordinate meeting points or pay for several room-service minibars and resort fees. One reservation, one set of keys (via smart lock), one place to gather at the end of the day. Compared to a typical suburban vacation rental, the location is the differentiator: the Tampa Convention Center is a 10-minute walk, Benchmark International Arena 16, and Tampa General Hospital 13. And for groups that need it, the Ember, Watersong, or Oakview room can be configured before arrival as a dining or meeting space instead of a bedroom (Watersong recommended), using folding chairs stored on-site. The property itself adds character that newer builds don't have: it's part of a historic Tampa building with boutique-style hospitality behind it, not a cookie-cutter unit. Guests also get The Gardens, private to your group during your stay, including a 9-seat Bullfrog A9L hot tub sized to match the property's 9-guest comfortable capacity, under posted house rules, smart-lock entry for simple, self-service arrival, and room variety, including a Wyoming king Murphy bed with fireplace in the Ember Room and a 92" 4K projector setup in the Watersong Room, and 7.5 Gbps fiber Wi-Fi for remote work and streaming. Together, this makes the Garden Wing a strong fit for families, business travelers, convention attendees, concert and sports weekenders, and groups visiting the University of Tampa or Tampa General, anyone who wants downtown access without sacrificing space or privacy.
