Come Relax at Mountain Springs Cabin w/ Your Own Private Pond
Our large 6 acre retreat is private, yet has convenient access to I-5 and the nearby tulip fields in Mount Vernon, Washington. Three acres are dedicated to the cabin, pond and surrounding grounds, with our house on the upper three acres. A perfect getaway for small families or a romantic weekend. Most of our guests come back annually and have made staying at our cabin a family tradition for birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions.
Out of respect for our neighbors, we do not offer the cabin as a venue for parties and we stick to our limit of four people. (small groups of short term visitors are fine) Although some of our guests take advantage of our convenient location to all that Skagit Valley has to offer, many come to the cabin and don't leave until their checkout time!
The grounds are well landscaped and include a turquoise half-acre pond. The pond is strictly available for our VRBO guests. We have horseshoes and corn hole for an evening of fun, or sit by the cozy fire pit. You can enjoy a refreshing swim on a warm summer day or fishing when the temperatures cool down. We lose fish in the warmer summer months, so we ask our guests NOT to FISH in June, July, and August. If catching a lot of fish is important to you, we suggest you book elsewhere. We never know how many fish are in the pond due to predators, poor fishing techniques, and hot weather. We have purchased a stand up paddle board for guests to use during the warmer months. Finish the day with a relaxing soak in the hot tub.
The home is fully furnished for all of your in home needs and is comfortable for up to four guests. The cabin has a Queen bed and double futon in the upstairs spacious master bedroom as well as a queen sized sofa bed in the living room. The set up is good for one couple or small families, but not ideal for two couples.
The only thing you will need to bring is your clothes, a swimsuit, and a steak for the BBQ. We have Direct TV, DVD and wireless internet. (Note: there is no landline phone available.) The kitchen is fully stocked with all appliances, including a griddle, coffee maker, coffee beans and grinder, rice cooker, microwave, electric hot pot, slow cooker, and many spices. As far as personal items, we provide a hair dryer, shampoo, body wash and cream rinse, so you don't even need to pack those. A full sized washer and dryer are available at the cabin at no additional charge for your convenience as well. Firewood for the fire pit is also provided.
Please check our calendar for availability so you won't be disappointed! For our regular "day" job we host pastors or missionaries free of charge M-F at the cabin. This is why those dates are reserved out so far in advance. If you want to come earlier than Friday please check with us as the dates may actually be available if reserved with enough advance notice.
Our weekends book way in advance, so if you want to book for a week long stay, you need to get in your request early. Winter weekdays are often open and can be booked last minute. To get an accurate quote, click 'instant quote' to enter the dates, number of guests, and whether or not you have a pet. You can email us if you have questions or use the "instant booking" option if you're ready to secure your dates. Our prices include all fees (except pet fee). No hidden fees.

Our stay was absolutely fantastic! The property was so clean and well taken care of from inside to out, including the beautiful grounds around it. Our kids had a great time on the private pond, and the hosts were so welcoming and helpful. It was evident that they put a lot of care into their property and from check-in to check-out, it was a breeze. Would highly recommend!
Absolutely gorgeous stay. We loved sitting in the hot tub in the evening and watching (and listening) to all the wildlife. The property is a dream. The cabin itself is cozy and clean. We brought our 5 month old with us and managed to make a pack-n-play work in the upstairs bedroom. We would definitely stay again!
The cabin is so peaceful and the hosts have thought of pretty much everything! There are notes everywhere to help with your stay, there’s even a binder filled with information - it was amazing! They don’t have a ton of requirements for checking out, but we tried to make their cleanup as easy as possible - it’s a beautiful place to stay and we hope to get the chance to stay again! The hot tub was great and we really enjoyed the pond and all the wildlife there!
What an amazingly magical place! We celebrated my 60th birthday here and it was like no other vacation. The home and property were out of a fairytale. The cabin is super comfy and cozy and has everything you could possibly need for a perfect vacation. The hosts were terrific and friendly. The bed was very comfortable and having a 1/2 bath downstairs was very convenient. The pond was spectacular also. Everyday the deer drank from it. Several eagles soared over it….1 really huge eagle the last night was beautiful! It was really hard to leave this magical property. Thank you Mary and John for hosting us on your amazing property.
The cabin was such a treat. We loved sitting on the deck with a glass of wine and gazing at the pond. The hot tub was great for pond gazing also. John and Mary have thought of everything to make the cabin a special place. Highly recommend.
Wonderful cabin and located close to a lot of cute towns with great things to see and taste. Bow, Wa has a phenomenal cheese place called Sammish Bay. Place an order and have a picnic on the property or a nearby vista point, which there are plenty. We live in Seattle and loved this getaway so much. The cabin is beautiful and the hosts pay attention to details. The property is manicured beautifully. The spring is wonderful. I will come back. We watched a few movies over coffee or wine and played a few games. Our dogs loved this property. The deer and rabbit came out every day and the dogs loved it.
This property is fantastic!! Beautiful, clean and the views are perfect. We had a very rainy and windy day where we just stayed in for much of the day and we enjoyed being inside just as much. Snuggled up and read. Well maintained and enjoyable.
Everything about the cabin was PERFECT!!! So many thoughtful things. Bedside fans, great cookware and utensils, and an AMAZING lake!!! We saw two deer and there was resident pair of ducks.
Like something out of a dream! This little cabin was cute, clean and cozy. It was exactly as described. Well equipped with everything that we needed. Fit our needs perfectly for a mother daughter getaway to see the tulips. We would love to come back. 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Mount Vernon area.
This place is magical! Time seemed to slow down. We used the hot tub so many times in our two nights. We stayed here a few years ago, and after another incredible experience, we plan on coming back.
This was our second stay, and it was just as amazing as the first, and we definitely hope to return again someday. The hosts were very welcoming, responsive, and both times we have stayed left a little gift for us when we arrived. The cabin was very clean, cozy, and beautiful, and we had everything we needed for our stay. We love this spot!
What a place! Absolutely beautiful. Wonderful family trip as a early Christmas present to my family. Great fishing. Had a great time!

About the host
Hosted by Tim Harris
My wife (Ericka) and I love to travel and have been to over 25 countries across Central and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. We lived for 8 years with our boys in Costa Rica and have a love of nature and God's beauty. We have been hosting people for over 16 years now (2026) and love the opportunity to share what we have been blessed with.
Why they chose this property
This area of Washington is FANTASTIC! It is more rural so there's space between houses, the pace of life is slower, the temperatures are moderate and our neighbors are friendly and helpful people. As you can see from the pictures, we live in a resort like nature setting which is so calming and relaxing. There's also plenty to do in town (art fairs, car shows, theatre, movies, etc.) and if having motorized fun on the water is on the agenda there's Big Lake (boats and jet skis) and Clear Lake (boats only) within 15 minutes.
What makes this property unique
Our property is unique because there's a fully stocked private pond with a dock and hot tub right out the back door. It's also on 6 manicured acres off of a quiet country road. If you want peace and quiet, seeing the stars on a clear night (no light polution), watching birds, deer and other animals walk the grounds and relaxing by the water ... THIS is YOUR place!
We invite you to experience a truly inspirational setting that is both in nature and close to the city. You won't be disappointed.
