Location was perfect for us. Accommodations were cozy. The owner made sure we had plenty of products since we were staying a few weeks. She messaged me off and on to see if everything was ok.
My family enjoyed our stay at this property. Just a short walk to a beautiful private beach for sunning, swimming and rock hunting. The owners were just a few doors down and quick to respond to any inquiries.
Our sister lives on the other side of the park so this was the perfect place for us to stay. We were able to walk to her place, and walk to the park for a family reunion. The lake and the kayaks were an added plus.

Hi Karen, we really enjoyed meeting you all and hope you return!!
Cute, clean and a stone's throw from the beach!! Our dog loved it too! Small fenced in back yard was perfect for our 10 pound pooch and he loved our daily walk/visit to the beautiful private beach! Our dog didn't want to leave and neither did we!

Lovely cabin
Stayed here in the dead of winter with my family. It was a perfect location and very lovely cabin/cottage. Everything was updated and clean and while small, there was enough space for all 5 adults who stayed. Loved that you could walk to the water...quite a site to see even in winter. Especially loved the electric stove heater! That heated up the room fast! Would love to stay again in the summer to really enjoy the lake. Also, owners are great and very easy to communicate with.

A fantastic, quiet getaway
We (family of 4) rented the cabin for a 4 day getaway that was close to home but had an up north feel and this checked all the boxes. I won't reiterate all of the other comments shared by others, but I echo all of the good qualities for the place and the owners. If I had to find any flaws its the amount of newer construction in the area but you tend to forget about it once you've settled in.
We will actually be back in a couple weeks. Thanks for everything Joy.

Perfect weekend getaway
The cottage was a perfect "home away from home" for our weekend away. Michigan may not seem like a great place for a winter weekend, but it was lovely to get up and walk to the Lake Huron beach for the sunrise. Joy welcomed us with a beautiful setup of fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, and a fire in the fireplace. She was available for questions when needed but we never felt intruded or checked in on. The house has everything you could need for a long or short stay, including onsite laundry, music/movies/sound system, and a full kitchen with equipment. We definitely hope we get to come back sometime, and would recommend this cottage to our friends.

Perfect Summer days
Joy & Julia are perfect hosts. They make every effort to meet your needs and expectations before, during and after your stay. Beyond their wonderful hospitality they are also very considerate and conscientious about the rental. During our stay there was some unexpected work being done in the neighborhood. When Joy realized this she called me before our stay to let us know and to reassure us that they would work with us to make us that our stay would not be ruined. We had a wonderful week and I would be comfortable recommending this rental to any of my friends.

Enchanting
This was our second year staying at the cottage, and we have already booked for next year!! As always, Joy and Julia are amazing to deal with. The cottage is truly a home away from home, the beach is wonderful for relaxing or rock collecting. The location is fabulous, only a couple miles from Port Huron and all it has to offer for food and shopping.
We had family visit one day and borrowed a long table from Joy, as always was no issue and whatever we needed to make our stay more enjoyable they are there to help. And us from Boston and my Sister and Mother from Florida we literally had our suitcases and nothing else. The cottage is fully stocked and has everything we needed for our visit and more!
This was my sister's first visit and she was as excited to book for next year as we were as she also fell in love with the homey and comfortable feel of our home away from home. The wine and flowers greeting us was so appreciated. Thank you again to Joy and Julia for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. See you next July!!

Hi Lisa, thanks so very much for the kind words!! You have a fantastic family and we loved meeting your sister! See you next year for more memories.
When I walked in, the place surpassed my expectations. The log cabin feel makes you so comfortable and relaxed. Nice decorative touches without being over the top. I like the books, games and other simple decorations. Bathroom is nice, clean. The kitchen has a bit more of a modern feel. Not too big, just right to store any food you bring. All the utensils you need. There is a small yard in the back and expect some rabbits to come visit you along with some squirrels. Crossing over the yard, you take steps to the top of the garage where there is an extra bed room. Before you go into that spare room, you will find your self on a deck with a table and chairs to read, talk to a friend or enjoy a view of the park on the lake. The home is in a private neighborhood. Nice homes all around and the residents seem friendly. It's a very short walk to Lake. There is a nice park for kids and of course a sandy beach. You also get to peer into Canada, watch big boats carrying cargo and wind turbines in the far far distance. The sunrise is a must. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer.

Thanks so much for the great review! We just love it here and are glad you did too! We hope to have you’s back!!
The house is so charming and is in a perfect location. It is just a very short walk to the beach. There was so much available for our use - kayaks, beach chairs, wagon., beach towels. This was our second time renting this vrbo and we hope to go back next year.
My partner and I stayed here for a week with our dog, Loretta. The cabin was exactly as described, and some aspects that made it even better! The yard is small but fenced in, a huge plus for a nervous dog owner. Every person we met on our walks was friendly, kind, and appeared to love dogs. The beach is stunning and quiet, and the house has everything you could possibly want to enjoy it. Maybe our favorite interior feature was the kitchen, which was spacious and modern. Fort Gratiot is a couple of miles away, making it extremely convenient to purchase last minute items or get a bite to eat at one of the small diners. And, for me, having two ice cream parlors less than 10 minutes away was a huge plus! I already miss the Carrot Cake ice cream at Milkhouse and the friendly service at Pepperoni Cow. The whole experience has us thinking about where we want to retire; this was just lovely. Thank you!
Our family had a terrific time staying at this house. The location is unbeatable, close to a small private park and beach and Fort Gratiot County Park. After an emotionally draining year, this was exactly the type of vacation we needed. Four adults, one toddler, and our dog fit very comfortably. We found that it had more than enough amenities, especially in the kitchen. We cooked every meal there. At first, it was very windy and cold, but it warmed up. We’d love to stay again next summer if possible when it’s warmer.
Great experience, easy check in/out! Great attention to detail. Loved that everything we needed was available, linens, towels, etc... Very cute and cozy with great location. Can’t wait to go back and stay longer!
The cozy log-cabin provided everything for a comfortable stay a few steps from the neighborhood beach. It felt at home and relaxing: especially liked the secluded inner-yard. The owners thought of every detail with love and attention. We enjoyed our stay & glad that we found this pearl on Huron lake shore.

About the host

We purchased this cottage because we fell in love with the beautiful beach and peaceful community. We love introducing the east side lakeshore to new visitors and repeat guests.
The 'Sunrise Side' of Michigan is really it's best kept secret!
Why they chose this property
We really feel that this is one of the best kept secrets in MI. Lake Huron is amazing providing us with beauty, Petoskey stones, beach glass, boats, freighters, sunrises, kayaking, standup paddling, snorkeling, sand and sun! We are conveniently located near a state and a county park with walking trails, bike paths and great small towns like, Lexington and Marine City. You also have the option of going international with a quick trip to Sarnia for a casino visit or a day trip to Niagara Falls.
Detroit is an hour away which offers a major airport, sporting events and more.
What makes this property unique
There aren't many original lake cabins left, but this one gives you rustic charm with modern amenities. Its a beautiful, peaceful private community and so relaxing. Located just 500 feet from an extensive shoreline where you can walk along the lake for miles.
