About Joy or Julia
We purchased this cottage in 2010 and loved it so much that we bought a house two doors down and moved here permanently.
Joy or Julia purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Joy or Julia chose Fort Gratiot Township
We really feel that this is one of the best kept secrets in MI. Lake Huron is amazing providing us with beauty, petosky stones, beach glass, boats, freighters, sunrises, kayaking, standup paddling, snorkeling, sand and sun! Yet, we are conveniently located to shopping, restaurants, casinos, antiquing, etc. Detroit is an hour away which offers a major airport, sporting events and more.
What makes this Cottage unique
We are conveniently located near a state park, trails, and cute lake towns like Lexington. The 'Sunrise Side' of Michigan is really it's best kept secret!

Joy & Julia were wonderful and welcoming! The cottage was perfect for our girls weekend getaway! It was a perfect place for some R & R! Would definitely recommend a visit!
Best vacation ever !!!
We had a fabulous week! The cottage is absolutely charming, clean and inviting. The owners Joy and Julia are truly wonderful hosts. We've stayed at many homes/cottages over the years, this was hands down the best! If that's not enough, beautiful Lake Huron is just a stones throw
from the front porch. You simply can't beat it, it really is the best kept secret on Lake Huron.
We absolutely loved having you and Joe as guests and now friends! Can't wait to see you's again!
Home away from home
Second time back. This place feels so homey and Joy is the best!
We loved having you and the girls! Part of why we love doing this is welcoming people back and watching kids grow! Hope to see you all again next year.
My husband and I stayed here for the week and had our adult children up to celebrate all of their birthdays on the weekend. We had a great time and our hosts Joy and Julia were beyond gracious. The accommodations are way above average and there are several perks that make it that much better. We loved the movie service that allows you to pick out a show from a very well organized directory and it appears shortly there after in your mail box via our hosts. The water was high and the temperature for July was a bit below average but despite such, a fabulous time.
We really enjoyed meeting you all and hope to see you again!
Very cozy and owners were very attentive to our needs. The cabin had a lot of attention to detail and met out needs. I particularly liked the location and distance to the lake.and the daily views of the great ships going to and from the Port Huron area. The cabin itself had a lot of charm and was well equipped right down to the coffee and cream. Thanks again to J and J.
Hi Jon and Cynthia , thanks for the great review! It was really nice meeting you all! I really enjoyed our little chats. Thanks as well for leaving the cabin in such great shape. We would love to have you's back!
The cottage was very cozy and clean. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake. Can't wait to go back.
The cottage was cozy, comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved kayaking on Lake Huron, it was peaceful and relaxing. The property owners were very friendly. We can't wait to go back.
We enjoyed meeting you and sharing our beautiful lake! Hope to have you's back.
This is Thomas Edison's boyhood home. The riverwalk is amazing! It borders the St. Clair river with Canada on the opposite side where a casino awaits any who dare. The annual Port Huron to Mackinac sail boat race is my very favorite wknd. The boats take off opposite our beach and are beautiful! Also the 3rd Sunday in August is the annual Floatdown. This event draws thousands and allows the opportunity to float from the lake to the St. Clair river and beyond. Port Huron and Lexington are both cute towns with quaint shops and restaurants. There are also many festivals, county and art fairs throughout the year. With nearby trails, golf, shopping, swimming, boating etc, etc a good time is just about guaranteed!!
